    I've been gathering figures for Frostgrave. I'm trying to make sure I have enough figures around that several people could play if they wanted. Trying to hook friends and family. I had some old Mordheim plastics and they look great. I bought official Frostgrave figures too. Wizards and soldiers. And some wizard figures from Wizkids and Reaper. I also grabbed some old Bretonnian archers. But the big deal I found was some awesome modular plastic viking figures from a company called Gripping beast. I think they were 44 figures for about $30. Found them on Ebay. Anyway I think I finally have enough figures for 6-8 warbands.

    To the guy from Brazil: what you can do is what I do for models that are out of print and can only find on eBay for a very pretty penny: I cast them. Buy a box set on eBay and create a mold of them while they're on the sprew. It works especially well for bits such as shields you've lost, broken spears, or something like that

    Hi! I love your videos. I unfortunately had to bring some work home tonight and used this video/podcast to make it at least enjoyable. I try to save these "every other Sunday" shows for long projects sitting at the computer, like bringing work home. Keep up your work and look forward to your next show :)

    Regarding bones: keep in mind that acrylic is a thin layer of plastic and it tends to stretch and not flake.

    28:00 For the reaper bones miniature with the bendy arm - I wondered the same thing myself so I asked for others advice and was told that if you varnish the model first, then prime it, paint it, and varnish again that makes it not so bendy to the point where is fine.

    • @tabletopminions

    Regarding the stripping of models: for acrylic based paints methylated spirits is the single best thing to use (I believe in the US, it's called denatured alcohol.) It's purple in colour, strips in minutes, is reusable, non-toxic and doesn't leave gunge over your miniatures like Dettol. I cannot recommend it enough.

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does it hurt plastic or resin? I'd be concerned about those materials. Thanks for watching!

  • @RotoRooster
    @RotoRooster 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Straight Ink in the airbrush is fine, you don't need to thin them. I don't and have no problems.
    Great Frostgrave warband. I wish I could get anyone to look at it but getting friends into anything lately is a challenge. How would you rate it next to Mordheim or something like it?

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like it better than Mordheim, because in my mind, they looked at Mordheim and tried to 'fix' it with Frostgrave. I think they were pretty successful. Thanks for watching!

  • @MrArmour
    @MrArmour 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know whether anyone else has suggested this, but if they haven't it may be helpful. The bendy arm question reminded me of 1/72 toy soldiers that are manufactured with soft plastic. A TH-camr called Lindybeige has a recommendation on his website that one paint a layer of undiluted PVA (Elmer's glue) over them to help them better retain paint. I have been trying that, and it has been working quite well. He notes that it doesn't obscure detail on the models, and I have found that to be true in some cases, albeit not in others. Anyway, it might be worth looking into before chopping off the arm.

    • @tabletopminions

    I thought your comment about how you dont think making all the terrain look snowy. When I first got into Frostgrave I was a blizzarding fool and really buried my terrain with it. Now I have peeled it back some! I play a lot of Dragon Rampant and I needed less snow!

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can really look cool, but then it doesn't look as good to use some of that terrain in Age of Sigmar later. Thanks for watching!

    Love the Frostgrave minis. I just recently collected everything I need for my warband and as soon as I have finished a few AoS projects, I can start on them. Hopefully I will be able to find a game, but it doesn't look like likely haha

    Hi Atomic, although they're not for sale yet CMON just did a Kickstarter called Massive Darkness. The models are superb. Some of the range will be sold as individual box sets. The troglodites sound like they would be cool. Also the characters are great.

    9AM central USA is 4PM in Dwarf Kingdom, so its either work (if I'm at 2nd shift on Sunday) or RPG session where I'm GM if I work on morning shift or have a free day, so no luck :/

      But then I can't focus on what I'm doing :P
      (And the fact that I run out of things to paint doesn't help either).
      I usually listen to stuff like that when I'm cleaning house or playing some online games.

    You never completed your sentence "If your paint varies a little bit" at 21:21..
    I too paint at a batch of 5 or 10 at a time and sometimes go back months later to finish the next batch of an army. I started writing down a paint journal to record exactly what paints I used to mitigate variances in paint colour/shade..

    @BladeRunner21577 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stripping paint. It might be the clear lacquer over the top, like a matt varnish might be the problem, I know a guy who uses a car paint as a varnish to make them tougher then matt coasts over the top so it looks like normal but you will not get that varnish off a plastic model, which is thee major problem with plastics, they are almost a one shot deal with regards to painting. I will be stripping some Sisters of battle figures over the next couple of days, I will be using a solvent called RPDE which is designed to clean epoxy resins which would disolve plastic but because there metal I have no worries.

    I always have thought it to be a huge taboo to convert models with bits from different miniatures lines. I don't know if it's just from reading white dwarf in the 90's, but I just can't use bits from different manufacturers on the same model.

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think instead of beating the crap outta stripping models, i think its best to join them rather than to strip them. Why? Bcoz of costs, time and patience... So what i mean is, strip it to the most you can get it, and if you cannot? Prime the damn thing, bcoz in the end, yur gonna modify it anyways, just put a spinoff off of something yur gonna do anyways!
