A solo miniature game, these are pretty rare, I might pick it up just for this reason. I also like the darker style of the game. Good game, thanks a lot for featuring it!
I love that this is one of the few wargame rulesets which does contested attacks. It's very elegant that one roll confirms and assigns damage amongst the fighters. It's especially nice that the winner may break combat.
Bought the rules yesterday, so this video is perfectly timed! Rules nerd comment: You upgraded too many skills. Each Build Point gets you 8 skill upgrades, so spending 2 build points will get you a total of 16 points in skills; you spent 18. No big deal, just wanted you to know. You're playing all the games I'm into lately: this one, Adeptus Titanicus, Kill Team, Gaslands, Last Days, etc. The stars have aligned, so I'm loving your channel these days. Keep it up! :-D
Thanks Ash, I really appreciate the videos you've made for Rangers of Shadow Deep and I would love to see more in the future. I think that it is excellent that you provide coverage for smaller systems like Frostgrave, and your battle reports are top notch. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!
Just ordered the book and looking forward to the experience. I have zero fantasy terrain or miniatures yet, so there's quite a lot of projects ahead before my first game, but this is a great motivator to build and paint a lot of cool stuff!
"He's leaping forward because I converted him to not be standing on a rock". I knew when I saw him, something was missing 😉 Great paint job on them 😀 I'm allways impressed by your minis. You ever get bored of the bat reps you could add painting tutorials to your channel.
I peed myself when you said this has solo play...I've been trying to get Frostgrave to work solo for so long because I live in the middle of no where this is amazing.
This game seems like it was designed for a pandemic. It's a cooperative game that runs great with one or two players. The A.I. is simple but extremely random. The D20 system is a mite "swingy" but that keeps it fresh & challenging for the solitaire player. Get it!
This looks like a really great game! As so, exactly what I was hoping for! :) And your video is as always of top quality! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Ha! I just noticed your name in the rule book credits and came here to ask if you were going to do a video on it. This will give new life to all that stuff I bought for Frostgrave.
I think this game looks pretty neat. Hope your buddies get their bands put together soon. I know you have a full plate every day but I really like this kind of game where you can use the minis you want, make the characters you want and have the option to kick ass hero style with a couple of friends.
LOL. dude, the rock being chopped off of the Ranger foot is hilarious and works oddly well! It looks like he's cocking the front leg for a sweet side kick. Oh man, that just put Bronn into an interesting headspace of mine.
Great let's play Ash and the game looks fantastic. Only one minor quibble: the scenario states that each clue marker result can only be obtained once and duplicate results are to be rerolled, so FYI for anyone looking to play through the scenario after watching this. Otherwise great job!
Hey - Anyone have an idea for a flying ranger? I was thinking of using Warhammer rules for flight but wondering how OP it is and what an appropriate penalty would be to balance it out. Was thinking of reducing Armor from 10 to 8 and taking away one ability (Evade, for example)... Thoughts?
Is there a way to play miniature games like this without having an elaborate table setup (much like in the video) but also not play on a table where you use soda bottles as a proxy for trees? Like a middle ground. Are there maps or mats that do a good job of throwing in nice details and obstacles? Something like what Infinity does, where it throws in a paper mat and includes cardboard foldable obstacles.
Really look forward to trying this out! Such a great idea for a wargame. Are you going to try and play with max players? Curious to see the downtime between each player when there's so many playing at the same time.
Really enjoyed the video, thanks Ash! Rules thought: end of the scenario exp. It doesn't say 'each' on the survivor exp, so that would be 15 total, not 45...? That's the way I'd read it, since the kill exp is awarded for each.
So this is only like 2 years after you made this video, so i hope you see it, but where are those buildings from? I've been interested in Frostgrave for a while, I've even bought a few of the books, but i don't know anyone else who plays and since now there are solo and Co-op modes for this game it might be something fun for my son and i to do. but i don't have any terrain, and do not have the patience to try to make buildins out of FoamCore.
I think this is the game I've been looking for - kind of warhammer skirmish meets D&D without the annoying voices :) A pre-written campaign of discreet quests with miniatures and terrain... yes. Not sure how this design hasn't been around much longer... unless I've missed some huge chunk of gaming history? Anyone?
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames what are the origins of the resurgence? Are you referring to Hero Quest or D&D or something else entirely? I was new to all of this at precisely one month into the pandemic. Letting myself dig into stuff I was fascinated/intimidated by as a kid. Really enjoy the Castle Ravenloft board game. I have about 500 points of a deathrattle army and really enjoying the hobby but the narrative aspect of a game like Rangers or Frostgrave checks a certain box that is lacking in matched play Warhammer. Any other suggestions for this kind of game are very welcome. Thanks!!
I love your tshirt! I haven't seen one those road signs in a long time. Where'd you find it? Greeting from near Algonquin Park. I/m not trying to be nosy just love to get one. Nostalgia. Great video as well! Thank you for your well done instructions :)
I always admire this playing mat, can anyone tell me who makes it? Game looks great as well. The ruleset has attracted my wife’s attentions as well. Looks like a great game to play through together.
I like it a Co-Op Mini game, I like it, with Solo capability very nice, is this going to come out as a actual production game or just PDF you miss match minis for it ?
Coming back to this after Grimdark Media. Still feels like a classic D&D Game.
Welp. I’m sold. Also would love to see more videos of this game. Thanks, Ash.

This was amazing. I loved how you narrated the things that went on in the game. You really painted a picture.
frostgrave was amazing... and this looks even more amazing... genius making this as a single player game as well

Fantastic production standards. Well explained. Thanks for putting this series together.
Probably the best game I've played in years.
Saved up the videos so far for this game. Off sick today so I'm going to binge :) keep up the fantastic work!
Bought the pdf today, cant wait to play a game. Great use of a night shift break to see how it plays

Check out Dark Alchemy for Frostgrave - it's got solo and co-op scenarios in it!
Dapper Fox I have just posted a demo of how to play Frostgrave solo.
@@GeekGamers01 I actually just saw your post on BBG before this comment! Checking it out when I get a chance
Dapper Fox oh that’s funny. Hopefully my vid will be of use. I’m working on another now using the dungeon rules.

This is a great game, the RPG and narrative aspects really sets it apart
Looks Great. I'm definitely picking up this game. Love the narrative of this
Thank you for showing this game. I've been trying to decide on it for the past couple days and I will definitely be getting it now.

Love the light up D20 dice! What an awesome feature. Thank you for doing a play through, so hard to find a quality video

Awesome game! Can't wait to see more, I'll be looking forward to it.
Someone disliked this video? I'm literally painting my Ranger and his raptor as we speak, and watching this for the 5th time.
Looks good. I wouldn't hate to see some more of this on the channel.
Looking forward to Monday... need more shadow deep in my life.
Just got this on Wargames Vault what a coincidence. It looks very fun. Thanks for the run-through.
Loved it! Looking forward to more!
The premise of the Shadow Deep kinda reminds me of the Colourless Grey Fog from Demons' Souls
I was on the fence, but now I'm going to purchase the game.
Really like the interior art of the final.
I like the look of this game, the solo play is definitely intriguing! Awesome playthrough, think ill grab this ruleset and get some more info!
This looks super fun - thanks for posting!
Looks amazing
Cool game! Can't wait to get my hands on it.
Can't wait to see more players!
I thought you had the dice rigged to begin with. Then the middle showed that your dice hated you 😂
Haven't got this one yet but will eventually. These solo play games are drawing my attention these days.
Pretty cool, And I did not think it would be. Nice!
And where does that terrain mat come from? It's great.
Ash! Damn you brother! Another great game I need!
In retrospect this video and game woud be great for many in isolation.

This was a pretty awesome game! I'd love to see a playthrough with a couple players too.
Hahha. You built a man of the outdoors with zero buff to tracking.
😂👍🏽
Thanks for the excellent videos!

I wonder why the clues aren't determined via a card draw like the Events? That way you would only get each clue result once.
@@Siygess I was thinking the same thing. I may house rule this at my table.
this awesome game could 100% be played on Roll20!!
Told myself I'd wait for the PoD copy, but watching this is making it tough.
This game is perfect to play as a Solo game of The Witcher 😁
"Each result on the Clue Marker Table can only be obtained once in the scenario." page 92. You found 3 survivors.
A soloable miniatures game..? Color me intrigued
Quite liking the AI on this game, seems to work fine as a single player so far.
What buildings did you use for this? Are the print files available anywhere?
No those are Tabletop Worlds
Kewl. Are those only available in the UK or do you know of a way to get them state-side?

Looks very interesting!
Would like to see you switch to a felt dice box instead.
When an enemy is in base contact with two rangers, how do i decide which the enemy attacks? Is there a rule? Couldn't find anything.

I just purchased this book and can't wait to play. Great Video. What battle mat are you using? It fits the mood really well.
Where can I buy buildings like these, that you can remove the roof and place models inside? It are they custom made?
Tabletop Worlds!
