- Hello fellow racers and track dayers! I'm back with a new hot lap / track guide video and this time it's for Castle Combe race circuit! I raced here for the first time in July 2022 and have picked out my best lap from the race.

Worth bearing in mind - this was my first visit to the circuit so although I did as much research before the race, clearly it won't be a perfect lap compared to a regular round Combe. That said... I did finish 5th out of a field of nearly 30 cars, so I didn't completely disgrace myself on my first visit.
You may also notice that my dashboard was completely switched off by this point. It went blank after just a couple of laps when taking the inside kerb at Camp Corner. A cable must have worked it's way free out of the back. So my revs and gear changes was all about sound and feel!
Let me know what you think of the lap, good or bad. And shout me in the comments if you're heading to Castle Combe in the near future. Thanks for watching!

During the steam fair at castle Combe a couple years ago I took my Raleigh chopper across the circuit. Due to it being a bicycle it took a solid 25 minutes to loop around
Very good! Book yourself a track day and see if you can improve on that time 😁
Thank you James
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Managed to get a 1:15.6 in the old mini at Combe after getting some pointers off your content, it dose help 👍🏻
That’s amazing! So glad it helped. And great lap time! Keep up the good content on your channel 😎
Very nice. I did a morning recently in my road-going RS3 with probably a lot more power than this, but road tyres etc and did a 1.23. Think I might have got closer to your lap with some decent rubber. Doesn't help the RS3 weighs about 1.6 tons though! ha!
Hi! Thanks for watching one of my videos. Did you have fun at Combe? It’s a fun circuit with plenty of peril if you get it wrong, which is exciting! Don’t worry too much about the times. Our power may well be different but so is the weight. I’m sub 900 I reckon so big difference. Racey tyres as well, etc. Do you have any onboard footage or plan to go track daying again?
@@JamesWilson234yep i have a video of a lap on my channel and also a video of yesterday doing llandow. I'm very much hobby trackday person though. Just like putting a fast road car through it's paces legally and ha
Awesome I’ll check it out! Annoyingly on the YT Studio app it doesn’t let you click through to a user that left me a comment so I’ll have a look on my Mac later 👍🏽

Great job man! For your next driving videos, it could be possible to fix a camera on the pedalbox to film your footwork please? :)
Hi Constantin! I'm definitely toying with the idea of a pedal came for a qualifying session! I'll see what I can do next time out at Oulton Park.
@@JamesWilson234 Great, thank you very much man! :D
Do you mind me asking what app you use for your laptimes mate?
Hi Josh! It's race Chrono: racechrono.com/
Although I just "retired" from using it as it's a strict rule in motorsport now not to run phones or tablets in the car and mine was getting increasingly noticed. I feel like I've used up all my lives before I get a fine or DQ from a session so I now resorted to my digital dashboard which although isn't as bright and clear, does the job.
Is there an alternative? Or do you need to use something like Draggy and look at the data after?@@JamesWilson234
I’ve actually stopped using it now as your not allowed mobile phones inside the car so I kept getting told off. I now have live data on my dashboard, my garmin watch for data after and my transponder/tsl also for lap times.
@@JamesWilson234 thanks for your reply James! Do you know if this includes track days? Would be interesting to see your dash set up!
