Redmax just came out with a new blower that has slightly higher cfm numbers but comes in at approximately $150 more. This was Redmax’s attempt to compete with Echo. I have the Echo PB9010T that I use with my business, and it’s a beast.

@@GarageGear Trust me, the RM9000 is the top dog. I own a lot of different top tier BP's and the new 9000 is much nicer in so many ways than the 9010. The tube is much more massive in size, yet much lighter and easier to swing on the 9000. It is not just a little step up, it is noticeable - 1110 cfm vs 1245. 48N vs 56N. Run them in some very deep leaves and you will see rather quickly. I've had my 9000 for 3 1/2 months and have used it quite a bit already. Echo is going to have to remove that statement from their site because it is now false advertising.

Went to my local dealer and tried on 3 blowers a week ago, Stihl BR-800x, Echo PB-9010t and a Red Max EBZ8560 and found that the Echo was just too heavy and the Red Max didn't feel good on my back. The sales person was pushing the Red Max so that was funny. After trying them all on several times I choose the BR-800x & then went home and gave it a spin and I have no regrets at all. Everyone tries to steer you away from the Stihl because the valves need to be adjusted but that is ridiculous and it is so easy my wife could do it. The Stihl is quiet it idles down and still twist my body at full throttle plus I was amazed that 912 CFM it could move my very old grass compost pile of grass tree limbs etc...... Take care of your machines and they will take care of you!!!! If I were young and dumb I would choose the bigger machines because I could of handled it 40 years ago but I am wiser and smarter now and know better. LOL ( AND THERE'S YOUR DINNER )

Great review. I own the Shindaiwa EB910 (Same as the Echo 9010) and Stihl BR800x. Both are excellent blowers. The Shindaiwa is phenomenal for fall clean ups or when moving heavy debris. It's air volume and power is reminiscent of the small 5 hp walk behind blowers from the 1990s. That's it's niche. However for everyday mow and blow jobs, I found it's way too much. It tends to blow debris up into the air and then back down behind you requiring you to go back and reblow again at times. It's also heavy, noisy, and consumes fuel. You get used to the weight but I've had many compliants from neighbours of customers and the fuel compensation is high. This is where the Stihl BR800x comes in. It's lighter, more fuel efficient, and quieter. It's not as powerful but because it's air stream is more focused than the 9010, it actually doesn't blow debris up and around like the 9010 does. It's also great where you need a focused air stream such as when lifting grass during spring clean ups or blowing snow. During fall clean ups, it does a good job but no where near the 9010's ability. I've had zero issues with both blowers. I've had the Stihl for 5 years and the Shindaiwa for 3 years. Overall, I'd recommend the 9010 for fall clean ups and the BR800x for pretty much everything else. The new Redmax EBZ9000 seems to have slightly elevated the top performer. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Stihl and Echo come out with something that surpasses the new Redmax pretty soon.

Another banger of a video JB. I agree with everything you said. I sold a 79cc Shindaiwa EB802 and replaced it with thebEcho PB-9010 AND a PB-2520 handheld blower...best move ever...an 80cc backpack blower is way too much weight and bulk on and off your back for small jobs like grass clippings or a few leaves from a small tree on your driveway/patio - enter the handheld blower...TBH I would have bought the Shindaiwa version of the 9010 because it has everything the Echo has including the 2yr/5yr warranty and 1110cfm/220mph but my research shows it comes with a hip strap to help better disperse the weight...my dealer had the Echo so i went with that...would like to hear feedback regarding the Shindaiwa straps...(I believe both are available online with Home Depot in the States)...i actually don't prime any of my Echo equipment cold or warm start in the Spring/Summer/Fall...two pulls is usually enough to draw fuel through the system...how frustrating it must have been outbof the box! Flooded possibly? Give me a call when youbwant to blast some leaves together!

The oil you use was good info but I was puzzled you didn't also mention the importance of ethanol free gas. I get mine from a gas station that has a dedicated pump. The pumps where you select the grade and the ethanol free is dispensed through the same hose as regular gas can have ethanol in the hose from the previous person. That needs to be flushed into the vehicle first before filling the gas can for the small engines. I have the PB-9010T and it started 2nd or 3rd pull the very first time when new, with ethanol free gas. None of my small engines have problems starting, even after sitting for many months, all using ethanol free gas.
