My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. When I went to MS to help out with Hurricane Katrina, I bought an Echo chain saw from a local shop for like 300 dollars. It was expensive for the time but we needed our own saw to cut trees off houses and doors. That saw is STILL running, and has given me zero issues. Echo is for me!
Aspen fuel and Saber oil combined gives you a clean screamer that last ages even with a 24/7 wide open throttle.

I have a Echo 8010 and got it a few years ago when they first came out. It is a very reliable blower with more power then any blower I ever owned and I have been in the landscape business for over 42 years.
I’ve owned Echo equipment for 30 years now. I still think they make really reliable equipment especially the gray units that I started with in the 90’s. I really hope that we’re not at the end of gasoline engines but you can’t ignore the signs. There should have been more R&D on both machines and not using customers as Guinea pigs.
I have a PB60HT that still runs strong. New straps and a carb is all I've done.
The Stihl blowers are not any better.
I have a srm 210 and it is 17 years old and still has 125 psi compression and runs
My personal climbing saw wich is heavily modified (cs-305 with a top controll and a ported and piped cs-346 engine) I personally ran that saw 10-12 hrs a day 7 days a week for 7 years was ran on either stihl premium or echo power blend with red armor being used now but I only climb on weekends to stay in shape lol but yeah can still see the cross hatch on cylinder and lines on the piston been through 30 carbs and a few coils and idk how many clutches but still starts 3rd ppl I'll cold and firstpull warm
Many of the problems occur when two competing marques go into a war and try to outdo each other for specification ratings, the customer always loses.

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.
I have echo 770t. Bought it used for $150 back in 2013. Blows wet and dry leaves. Love it

My Echo PB-9010 runs great - saves me time. But I only have about 30 hours on it. I added horizontal chest straps that I purchased on the big A. This blower is AMAZING. I wish they made a 250cc ;)
*PLEASE* What Brand and part number? I need those straps pretty bad.

@@aportilla007my local Stihl and Echo dealer just sold me a Stihl strap that goes across my chest. Without that cross-strap, this blower is a nuisance to carry around.
The 8010s also had major dirt ingestion issues because of the intake baffles before the carb leaking, they improved the elbow , filter base and baffle for the carb, did a shortblock on one last month and even though it was a year out of warranty echo still covered the parts.
Excellent analysis of the 80 and 90 10's. Every issue you mentioned, my 5 had. But you forgot to mention that the throttle handle cracks on the hip controlled throttle ones.
As a one man show, l heavy depend on your opinion on power equipment l am going to purchase. I will watch others but you are my best. Just starting out l want to thank you for my successful business . Once again this video is

I have an old (15-20 years) Echo SRM-266T that still starts on first pull. Great machine! I maintain all my own equipment and if you take care of it it takes care of you. Only issue is my straps are wearing through.
Awesome!! Video! I own a 9010 and I love it! But right off the bat the dealer had to replace the carburetor because he was unable to adjust it. I only use it around my house but I love badass GAS power equipment!👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for the awesome information!

Very interesting video. I ran (2) 8010s for 5 years now I think...bought them when they first came out. Love them and literally had no issues used them commercially. Finally sold them to some friends and bought two new 9010s. Love those machines. I'm shocked they have all these issues and I got so lucky. I did buy a brand new br800 stihl...and it didn't last me a year before exploding. Thankfully it was within their 1 year warranty and I got a new one replacement. Fingers crossed this one lasts
This has helped a ton. I love my 8010 however I've been having these issue for the past two years. Take forever to warm up and doggy on the throttle. Have the carb cleaned all new seals then three months later back doing the same thing. I'm going to the garage to take a closer look at all these issues. Thank you so much
Love my 8010 and 9010 they are the best by far and you even solved my random problem with it randomly cutting off because of the kill wire! I’ll fix it as soon as it’s warm enough to get out side and do it!

For years I’ve asked, “Why are they messing with products that work just fine?” I believe, much to our chagrin, R&D in these manufacturing companies feel they need to continually improve on great machines, eventually leaving us in the lurch. I highly doubt R&D is messing with what works as much as most companies that finally make a solid product are then pushed (by management) to lower the cost on every part and reduce the labor needed to manufacture their products... which ruins the design.

Hello, I don’t comment very often but I wanted to say I love your show, also I’m surprised that Echo has these kind of problems.I had the hand held blower and also weed eater’s and they started third pull every single time. Also they lasted for many years with no problem what so ever and still use Echo because they are beautiful reliable machines.
I broke down and bought mine yesterday, the 9010, and let me tell you, compared to some of the others, this is a beast, more than double the cubic feet of air a min, its amazing, there is lots, gobs of power, but where I am, I get matted pine needles at times, and have over a acre of yard, with lots of trees, so I wanted a bigger one, and pardon the pun was blown away with the power, if your of small frame, be ready for it, its like strapping on a small turbo jet, I am 6'00 over 300 lb, so its not that bad to me, but even at my size I could feel it wanting to torque me, other words, blower tube pushing back against me, but the leaves go flying also, its great.

I was a Stihl guy. I need to replace 180c mini boss I decided to try the echo cs-3510. Now I own all echo equipment.
I work at an echo and stihl dealer. We have had issues with short blocks on the 8010/9010’s coming in with scored cylinders, with no visible reason why. We have had issues with carbs. Also, we have seen multiple times the units bogging down after 10 minutes when the incorrect fuel filter is put on.
The br800 problems we have seen is the muffler issue that Bree mentioned. We have had blower fans breaking and coming loose, and wearing the crankshaft on the engine side. And choke knob issues.
We have replaced at least 50 shortblocks from both echo and stihl
I have a 9010t and have owned it less than a year. I use it the least of all my blowers but yet it cut off and the dealer said that it wasn’t warrantied because dirt got in the pistons!! Bull!! These 9010s have a flawed design that’s causing these blowers not to work properly and the dealer refuses to warranty them for it.
Merry Christmas, another excellent video.The thing about stihls is they need more maintenance than a traditional 2 stroke. I've noticed that the stihls wrist pin seize often, then the crank seals and the dirko silicone leak after time.
Hugh fan of the 8010. Bought mine after going to the GIE in 2018. It has been a awesome blower.
Thanks for telling it like it is. I guess I should hang onto my Echo PB755. Except for normal things like fuel lines, it's been flawless. I've always wanted the biggest/baddest blower but the PB9010 might be too big and I don't want problems. I've always heard the BR800's are lemons.

I'd appreciate more info about why the choke won't work. As a non commercial user if/ when it happens I'll likely be fixing this myself.
That jet issue just seems stupid in an area where threads should have been used. Probably bean counters at work there.
I'm going to be proactive on the kill wire and cut small pieces of vacuum tubing to fit those areas of contact to act as insulation and secure it with zip ties.
Chickanic, I love my Echo PB-9010, great blower, especially when blowing wet leaves. Haven’t had any issues yet, but now I know what to watch. Appreciate your videos!

Spile it thanks I'm getting a echo 9010 in a few days. My Husqvarna 580 7 years old never had those problems. Just the carb was not in tune. I had do tune it my self dealership didn't understand what was going on... lol. TH-cam helped me ... thanks. IL get a Husqvarna 580 mark 3 when I can find one . I want to get the echo 9010 because it's the baddest... iv been to good for to long...ha ha..I still don't trust STHIL..😄
Love my 9010 during, an hour afterwards my back is killing me. Still love it.

Great info! I use the pb9010t for my business and after cleaning the carb, the unit worked like new again until a few weeks later when the blower power started cutting in and out. But that may be because I didn't secure the choke wire (or whatever it's called) nut properly when I put it back together.
Great job. Stihl 55 which # to adjust the H speed 10000rpm or 8400rpm.
I bought a Echo PB 400 40 years ago for my own use besides a carb rebuild and the muffler coming loose it still runs good. The blower guard was broke and the blower ate my t shirt right off my back . Some hardware cloth and tucked in shirts fixed that

In the last 12 years, we have used back pack blowers from Sthil, Echo and Husqvarna. The Sthil units worked ok and so did the Echos. These units were of the older type that were pre "blower wars" machines. About five years ago the shop/dealer we work with had some issues with Sthil and their policies over sales and marketing. I rolled in one day and all the Sthil logos and most of the inventory was gone!
In it's place was all Husqvarna products. They were up front with me and since I was there for 3 new back pack units, they asked if I would try them and see how it went? I got an excellent deal and left there with 2 new BT 570's and a BT580. Neither myself or the dealer really knew what to expect and since we had always used Sthil and Echo stuff prior to this, I was nervous as we use and beat the living crap out of these units.
We have 2 guys that mainly do cleanup of overgrown properties and de-thatch and overseed lawns on a daily basis. The blowers they use are probably running full tilt 2 or 3 hours EVERY day. They got the two 570's to replace the older Sthil units they had been using. The Sthil's (square top spark plug covers) had so many hours on them that when you pulled the starter rope there was hardly any compression left and it could be hard to start them if it was fairly cold out. The plastic covers were busted and missing etc. so they had earned their retirement Lol.
The BT580 was used as an extra unit for any crew that had some kind of a major cleanup etc. on their route that day and regular hand helds were not enough. The Husky BT570's are still running today. Broken plastic and some duct and electrical tape on the straps and tubes to repair obvious abuse issues and the primer bulbs a few times and one unit needed a new coil last year but still going with way over 1200 hours on both of them.
We only buy the Husky units since the first 3 and when you have employees running any tool, only god knows what kind of abuse they will get? Our older Echo units are gone now too and I can't say anything good or bad about them or Sthil at this point because we haven't used the newer models. After this video? It seems we made a good choice for now?

Great information… I just bought a husqvarna blower hope they behind there products like ECHO
My 9010T is running great. No carb issues yet. My 2012 Redmax EBZ 8500 still starts and runs like new. I did tear the Redmax engine down and cleaned the carbon deposits from the cylinder and piston to be honest. Other than fuel lines and tune up parts that's it.
The wiring issue you pointed out in this vid made me think that I would run my wiring through a flex tube like a gas line or something similar so that it was completely protected from beginning to end

I confirmed that Stihl is testing for the EPA. I pulled the plug from a Stihl BR600 and it showed signs of use. Also, in the primer bulb of a Stihl BR800X. it looks like fuel.left in the primer bulb. Thanks for the info.
I've got 2 8010's, and 1 9010 and no problems as of yet. I did go ahead and buy the small d carb adjustment tool after your last echo blower video.
Uss a large tie wire on the 800 backpack blower to hold the tube in to the frame eliminating the shoulder issues in your video. I want a blower with two hoses, two nozzles. Sick and tired of the spinning around thing

I have owned Echo and Stihl blowers in our company our echos pb 755 T and 770T have outlasted our stihl br600 and 700 we can only get 2 years out our Stihl’s and our Echos are 5 and 8 years old and still running even our Echo Srm225 have outlasted our Stihl trimmers
That problem with the carb trying to spit the main jet back out is common across so many other brands of small engines. I was given a piece of equipment (that needed a lot of work) that had a Robin/Subaru engine and a 2bbl carburetor (single stage). The guy that gave it to me had removed the carb and blown it out using compressed air. After reinstallation it poured fuel into the engine and filled the crankcase. He got disgusted with it and stopped working on it. After I got it I went back through the carb and noticed there was only a hole where the main jet was supposed to be...sure enough he had missed the fact that he ejected the main jet AND that o-ring under high pressure. After researching this appears to be a VERY common problem for engines that sit for a while without starting (especially with ethanol formulated fuels). Unfortunately the only fix in this case was another carburetor, and since Robin/Subaru is no longer in the States supply is dwindling while demand for parts for old units is staying steady...so what used to be a $100 carb cost nearly $400. If I had to pay for the piece of equipment I would never had bought a carb for that kind of money...but now it's back together and running well.
Long story short - tl;dr, carb manufacturers taking the easy way out in manufacturing by affixing main jets with o-rings are giving EVERYBODY fits.
Thank you. I have not had an issue with my 9010 as of yet, but I just ordered a carb kit to have on hand. Echo doesn't sell just the o-ring, so you have to buy the whole kit. But they are not expensive. When you live 70 miles from the nearest Echo dealer, as I do, it is a good idea to keep parts on hand. Love this blower. As I weigh in at 135 pounds, it does want to twirl me around and I need both feet firmly planted on the ground. But what a machine! Keep up the great videos, Bre.

I had an Old Echo 751T that little thing was a beast I modified it by mounting it on a luggage cart and adding 6 inch pneumatic tires on the rear and a crazy wheel from a shopping cart on the front mounted on a spring action gate wheel bracket I used it as a parking lot blower .. four acres of asphalt four times a week for 20 years (lots of tree debris) I know I had up in the thousands of hours on that thing the last time I checked the piston and cylinder (the whole machine looked like) new .. cross hatches and milling marks still visible I wore clean through two sets of those pneumatic tires and two front wheels the only thing I ever had to do to the blower is blow out the carburetors and the oversized modified screen filter I put tank a couple of times
I own PB 770 St Echo Backpack Blower love it also have SRM 2620 weed eater had no issues with either one of them yet both fairly new but I'm no stranger to Echo products I've been buying them since the early 1990s when they were light colored Gray and they're always why I have the new ones is because my old ones got stolen and they lasted me for well over 15 years with no issues whatsoever definitely worth the money as far as I'm concerned nothing wrong with still they are great a little more expensive as far as echo and still I personally think they are about neck and neck

I've been running an Echo 9010T since they came out. I replaced my Husqvarna 580 and it was might and day. They only complaints I have are the swivel tube sticks and has from the first month of use. Just recently, it's getting a little harder to start and doesn't idle at the normal start position. I usually just put the auto a little higher. I figured it needs a carb adjustment. I need to buy the echo tool for it. Otherwise it has been an incredible time saver!
red max brz8550 been working great for 3 years now 0 issues.
I own 2 br800, one is a first yr model that still has lots of power ( more than a 2yr old red max8050 that I don't use that much).the newer 800 runs like crap and has no power. I have to watch that channel. Thanks
I also own a 1 yr old echo 9010, the engine that lost compression. Echo warranted it but lost it for most of my fall clean ups. Dealership had to wait three weeks for the parts. Dealership also told me they 3 more in there shop for same problem. I noticed the spark plug was white as a gost before I dropped it off.
I have a plug-in leaf blower and I don't need more than that but I still find this interesting.

For residential use, I have a Shindaiwa EB633RT Blower (bought in 2009), and a Shindaiwa EB262 blower. The EB262 looks like the equivalent Echo. I like Shindaiwa, but I guess they are being absorbed into Echo.
kill wire rub thru . Cover with fiber glass tape /sleeve THEN wrap with nylon spiral wrap .
Both of these are used for abrasion prevention in different industries .
Just watched this video. VERY informative. I own a PB8010T for my lawn business. It's 5 years old and the carb is the only problem I've ever had and I finally had to replace it. Got a short video coming out on that soon. Ask your customers if they use standard pump gas with ethanol. If yes, that's the problem. Over time, ethanol eats away the enternal seals and orings as well as gumming up the carb which causes the bogging and unlevel idling it was doing in your previous video. Yea, I watched that one too. 😜 I really enjoy your channel and thought I'd mention the ethanol gas thingy. Ethanol is a small engine killer. After being in the lawn/landscaping business for over 23 years, I can say without hesitation or reservation that the other issues...straps, wiring, tubes is mostly user abuse. Not pointing fingers but no one will take care of your equipment as well as you will. Merry Christmas and keep the good info coming chic. I have learned much from your videos.
I’ve always ran Shell premium gasoline in all my small engines. Years ago, I had read an article somewhere that Shell had the best fuel (at least in Canada where I live).

Great Video! I purchased the Shindaiwa EB910 (Echo PB-9010) - super powerful blower - as a backup for my Shindaiwa EB802, as Shindaiwa discontinued the EB802. Unfortunately, I've found the EB910 is way too much blower for everyday use on weekly maintained properties simply to blow off driveways and sidewalks - the exception being for heavy leaf cleanups, which is why I rarely use it, and it remains in constant layup. Overall, it's power is spine twisting, side-to-side movement of the nozzle requires considerable effort - especially if at WOT, it's slightly more heavy, but considerably more cumbersome than the EB802... the race for more power has it's draw backs.
Since Echo bought out Shindaiwa, they've been discontinuing the actual Shindaiwa line and replacing them with re-badged ECHOs - example the Echo PB-9010/Shindaiwa EB910, and the majority of their trimmers, edgers, blowers, etc. Personally, I've run Shindaiwa equipment for the last 7 years without any major failures. It seems the only true Shindaiwa blower, edger, and trimmer left are the EB770 blower - my next purchase for everyday use as the EB802 was discontinued, and the T235 Trimmer and LE235 Edger, which if still around when I need them will be my next purchase to replace the T242 and LE242, which have been bullet-proof - fortunately I have a new T242 and LE242 waiting on standby that I bought years ago for backups.
Nothing beats the original Shindaiwa equipment. I've been using their handhelds since the 90s. I still have a T230 from 2007 that runs with no issues. I also bought a T242 in 2016 and it's been awesome as well. They and Redmax always made the best 2 stroke equipment from my experience.

Could the echo carb issue possibly be a issue for the pb770t? We are commercial and only had ours for about 2 solid months. Within the last week it went from the amazing blower it is to crap. It works great till it gets warmed up good then it stops wanting to run. Boggs down and literally sounds like it's on its deathbed. We watched your video about it losing its spark and changing the coil. So we did that but no it's still running bad. Please help us, I watch your videos every time we run into a issue. You inspire me so much with helping my husband and his lawn business.
I am the 2 cycle tech at a very busy mower shop in Central Florida so we run all year we are both echo and stihl dealership and being that I am the master 2 cycle tech I see every peace of equipment that takes mix gas sold and we sold an equalish number of 8010s and 800s and now the 9010s but out side of stihl choke shafts being broken off and typical 4mix air leaks I rarely see either echo or stihl 80cc blowers come through the shop and the shop is very busy with a 4 week back log year round. The biggest issues being
1. Lack of maintenance and or cleaning
2. Straight gas
3. Old gas (home owners)
4. Phantom "no start" ( operator error)
5. Legitimate problems
This should not be taken as cannon its just my observation in a very busy shop in one of the biggest lawn care markets in the world just saying I have never seen a 8010 come in blown up from a lean condition always straight gas or so dirty they overheated

Bought new pb9010 two months back. Loved it. Problem is it seized up on third tank of gas. I was offered replacement but decided to go back to Stihl product.
My Echo dealer gave me about every reason why l destroyed this machine wrong gas didn't warm up bla bla bla . No l think to get all that power out of it they are running them way to lean right from the factory.
We have all the brands of blowers and each one has its advantages over the others. The Red max blowers are by far the most durable as far as taking a beating and they are very reliable.
I have an old Echo PB651H Hip control it's been an excellent unit
