Capacitor calls are the best 😁
Very safe using a screwdriver to short out capacitor😅
Mini splits, I'm trying to like them. They are great when they're working. Thanks for taking us along.
And the biggest P.I.T.A. when they are not.
Had an Issue with a Sequencer today in an Electric Furnace. Furnace kept Running and Running and I quickly determined it was Not the Thermostat. 🤔👍
My humble opinion
Most mini split issues are an issue with Freon. Usually from a bad install. Either careless or inexperienced at flaring the copper and or tightening the nut
Agreed. Some of them come with pre-flared linesets, and usually they're gouged or deformed so I always redo them. Had one the other day where the flare nut cracked at ~8 ft-lb (1/4", was supposed to be 11.8). I'd just had the digital torque wrench recalibrated, never seen a flare nut crack like that. Crappy pot metal that looks like brass but certainly isn't up to spec. Replaced with a USA-made nut and it tightened right up to spec, no leaks.
P6 is a code for low pressure. Happens all the time
Someone probably put moth balls in their unit to keep the mice from chewing the wires.
Snake away too
Your a glutton for punishment with the duct less 😅nice job 😊
Wow people do clean their house in Georgia, SIMPLY AMAZING
Shocking! 😬👍
If you are smelling moth balls near the condensers, someone has been suffering lizards on the units.
I had a pest controller specialist give me that inside tip when dealing with areas where lizards are a problem. Apparently mothballs is the cure! Ive tried it and never had any repeat issues of the little critters frying themselves on the boards
I ran into that same sys last winter with p6 code. It was freon issue. Remove and charge by weight. Been good since. It was over charged
Excelent video Mr Curtis n have a good day
I've noticed the use of pine needles a weed block where you are. In Canada I've never seen anyone do that, it usually bark mulch, but the needles seems like the obviously better material. I'm going to give it a try as my pine tree is a never ending supply. Loving the videos.
Pine needles or Douglas Fir needles ? Big difference down here
I don't know where to tell you to look, but I thought I read some comments of people saying a big fluffy pile of pine straw for mulch can catch fire, right next to your house, and therefore some local governments don't allow it for house side mulch. You might want to research that. I think it was on one of this Hvac Guy's videos, he was working on a unit where there had been a fire.
Thanks Curtis, a few Mini Split faults would be a change to view 👍 Au
Good thing on the mini splits is there’s only a couple of manufacturers but a gazillion different versions and very little documentation that’s easy to locate. Wish Bluon would add more to their database. Watch that dang wasp 🐝 they are very sneaky and will come atcha outta nowhere to pop you. Being allergic to em makes me hate and scared all at once 😮
Couldn't resist a joke from the 60s:
I smelled mothballs 🤨
How did you get the little legs apart? 😅
😂 Imagine that
If it is rebranded from Midea to Carrier price probably tripled or more.
Mini split has mini problems 😂😅
Brostash!! Great stuff
We have 3 LG Ductless Mini Splits here. I believe it’s compressor module protection
Worked on a 1994 icp package unit today. Damn thing was older than me
I have one like this about 4 months ago. Ended up having to replace compressor and VFD
Found a blown up hard start today lol
My son completely destroyed his shoulder trying to get away from wasps in AC unit. He fell into something & had hours of surgery to try & repair but still not right.
👍👍👍
Nice work on both jobs Curtis. The second job you need to run from. Mini splits suck.
One of the reasons I retired, units like this
Nothing good bout those mini splits when they start failing 😅
That multi head unit is very loud
The big question is what do you charge, Curtis, for a capacitor
Mini splits should always have a surge protector Best practice
My very humble opinion. The residential customers are getting beat over the head with mini splits. They have tripled the cost of heating and cooling your house with almost no added benefit. Love your channel Curtus
Question??? I thought you said you heard refrigerant flowing when you initially checked the inside. How was it flowing if the compressor wasn't working due to the capacitor?
I thought I did too. But, there’s another line set in that closet, maybe that’s what I heard
@@HVACGUY That makes sense. Thanks for your reply.
What magnet do you have on your meter?
Comes with the meter
Really like the magnets on ur meter can u please let know where to buy it for my meter . Brand, Model. Please
Either or both the condenser fan(s) or compressor don't sound normal with that ticking sound as the system ramps up and down.
What is the other condensing unit there for?
It use to be carrier toshiba but I think midea makes theme for carier now
Sad thing is he really doesn't know mini splits definitely needs to go to a few classes on them.
Could u tell what type , make , model of meter magnet on ur meter is !!!!! Please
Frustrating. It seems to me that AC should be a lot simpler. Oh well.
That mini split is a Madea
DUUUUDE missed a screw
They sure dont make easy to work on them mini splits. I hate the ones that have the boards up side down.
I'm trying to figure out why the first thing you didn't do after getting the one system back up and running is check your running amperages of your compressor. The second thing is how are you going to test freon without making sure that your components are clean. You didn't check anything inside. You know for a fact that can answer coil is dirty. Therefore, your pressures are not correct and how are you checking superheat or sub cool when you didn't put not one temperature probe on nothing,... And 160 suction pressure is hardly ever okay. Just saying
Hi bro
What's up?
"Made in China" well there's your problem lady!
Mothballs….to keep cats from doing their business there.
Mini split sounds horrible
Curtis, I finally got the first comment!!!! Wooo
Woohoo
I think you are right with the multiple problem idea. Good work on that one buddy.
The difference between the first and second call is quite striking. First call: No beeping smoke detector, barking dogs, rat crap or piles of trash, everything is labeled correctly, clean, normal equipment, even smelled of moth balls and not of trash! And then there's that second call... Shitty mini split, even more frustrating than usual, Shock hazard, cryptic error code, mucky outdoor unit, annoying video ad, couldn't find the problem, and worst of all: WASPS!!! Could be worse (rats, trash, barking dog, actually getting zapped, sewage), but also far better.
That would still be better than a mini split. :D
Bluon refrigerant is crap and so is their website and manuals. Waste of time
Don't like new systems too many brains for me you fry brains out trying to figure what wrong
