Several thoughts: there were lots of nice little touches in this film. First, until I heard this, I didn't clue into Rose resisting the cop checking Chris' license - not out of outrage, but to cover her tracks. And Rose telling Chris that her dad "would have loved to vote for Obama a third time", then her dad says that word for word; it wasn't just "Oh, I know my dad so well, I KNOW he's gonna say that", that was just part of the story they'd made up in advance. And Rod? One of the best bros in cinema, hands down. Also, I loved Woolie's description of retreating to the kinship of other black people as a "save point".
Thats kinda of a tribe thing to do right like i know if i am surrounded by people of a diferent cultural background like in a party of something if i see another mexican or latín american people (even if i dont aproach them or anything) brings me some modicum of comfort in an otherwise akward situation
im imagining you have the legal name on your profile and all your life people have made fun of you for it so you go to a party and introduce yourself as daniel snutts and you meet a girl and date and get engaged and on your wedding day the priest says "i pronounce you mr and ms.....bofa d. snutts" and *everyone* falls out in laughter except you, with this sullen look on your face.
I got so hype like ten minutes into this that I fucking paused the video and went to go see the movie for myself. Woolie is right; Get Out is a genius horror film that offers amazing social commentary without feeling preachy or demonizing anyone. Probably one of my favorite films of the last five years. I can't wait for more from Peele.
^ It's a fucking horror movie with racism as a thematic undertone. Yeah, a movie that talks about racism is going to highlight black people under an oppressive system perpetuated by white people because um...that's been the history of the U.S.A. Slavery, Jim Crow, Segregation, efforts for black suffrage...there's a whooooole lot to draw from. Also, keep capitalizing certain words, I like that idea that you think you're really sticking home your point with those. This movie got all up in your comfort zone huh.
For someone who talks about hostility you've certainly got that in spades, man. The police officer isn't portrayed as evil. Do you know why? Because these white people in this fictional community in particular are basically an insane cult. The movie does not say or suggest that literally all white people in the country behave this way, that's your projection. Racism is still very much alive in this country. We could take a look, for example, at the two highlighted police shootings in Minnesota. When a black man was killed (a black man who was a loving and supportive father with his daughter in the car, so you should at least love him, right?) as he complied during a traffic stop, the officer shot him. However, the media portrayed the officer in the most innocent light possible while smearing the victim (talking about his use of weed as if that justifies shooting a non-threatening civilian). Meanwhile, a black police officer shot an innocent white woman, and media outlets have gone to great lengths to bring up the officer's identity and religion and lambast him (justifiably) for the shooting. While the white woman has literally been referred to in media as "the most innocent victim ever". The fucking police chief was forced to resign because of this shooting. So. Same city, two police shootings of innocent and non-threatening civilians, two VERY different public responses in the media, along with VERY different consequences. You're gonna tell me race wasn't a factor in all that though, huh? Then again, you've got a warped view on black people anyway. The only other things I need to respond to are 1.) MLK was assassinated because of his efforts for Civil Rights...shit didn't magically become all good a few years later. 2.) That whole "where are the black fathers!!!" thing is a Fox-News level talking point that has been debunked. Here's an article that talks about how and why. www.nytimes.com/2015/06/08/opinion/charles-blow-black-dads-are-doing-the-best-of-all.html And if you're gonna be a bitch about that, here's a study with a ton of data that suggests that black fathers are there for their kids more often than hispanic or white fathers. www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr071.pdf
Buddy, you've got some pent up agitation towards black people that I can't help you with. Racism has a ton of forms in this country, from White Flight and Red Lining, responses to black drug addicts versus white drug addicts, voter suppression, an uncanny amount of confederate supporters considering the Civil War was fucking done with over 200 years ago, a web of police violence against black victims that never results in proper police punishment, respectability politics, etc. But it's pointless to talk about any of this with you because you'll somehow deflect it all and blame black people for where they stand in society today. Good luck being so full of disdain for black people. Is Woolie one of the good ones to you? Lmao
You're a raving lunatic dude. Also, I linked to a study after the opinion piece, but it's great that you ignored that. You've got some pretty thinly veiled racism in comments you've made about black people in this video, so it's pointless to try and talk this through any further. Good luck with life
I saw that movie with my little bro and our parents. We were quiet for a good 8 minutes of the ride home and then just exploded into talking about the movie.
I didn’t grow up around many varied types of people, but it never occurred to me to intentionally change my behaviour for them. Also they were right, the movie seems more about a weird fetishization of being black rather than any racist sentiment
I don't mind Opie, but Matt is what people describe Opie from O&A as. His greed and apparently disdain for Pat and Woolie's chemistry is what killed the crew. Ironic since they were fans of O&A
I listened to the podcast while doing something else and somehow ended up thinking that it was a typical social comentary movie not this evil cultist thing I guess the start of the conversation made me think and assume the style of movie it was yet somehow ended skipping/missing all the hypnotism and brain transplant stuff
I was under the impression this was going to be an utterly shit movie from the trailers, but now I'm going to turn of the spoiler cast 2 minutes in so I can give it a chance.
"Do to your genetic makeup, you'd be a beast in the ring" the white guy says, to a black guy that's skinnier than him. Seriously tho, Keith Stanfield played Snoop Dogg and L, two of the most skinny guys ever.
The only part of get out that I liked was the part where the black guy picks cotton out of the arm-chairs arms then stuffs it in his ears to save himself from the rich old liberal hypnotist woman.
I couldn't stop laughing cause Pat was so quiet throughout this whole thing probably thinking about his alt right girlfriend like "Oh fuck this is awkward as FUCK!" lmao
Paiges now deleted tweets about her "best friend Ben Shapiro or Milo whatever the fuck dipshit" is something i quiet enjoy to reminisce every now and then. This fanbase is fuuuuucked and i love it. Cheers.
I think the line the father gives about Obama is just a way to shit on trump though. Go back and listen to the line again and the way Chris agrees with the father makes me think they were using that line for that.
"This Black Man Comes With Two Day Shipping!" sounds like a regular Friendcast title
Finding the other black guy at the party to refill your Estus

I've only seen the trailer but the shot of the protagonist staring blank faced and *weeping* is such strong imagery it makes me want to see it.
Daniel Kaluuya is a hell of an actor, but it's even stronger once you know the context.
misread that as "black faced and weeping"
First movie I've been to where the crowd clapped before the movie ended.
When the guy showed up in the cop car people in the theatre cheered.
luedog4life I so wish I had seen it in a crowded cinema just for that moment.
Just for the reader's sake, that's The Skeleton Key, I think. But yeah, what a weird similarity!
The deleted scenes & alternate endings were also fantastic and funny, Jordan Peele is a genius.
0:56 the best moment Matt has had in like two years
Get Out was the most uncomfortable viewing experience I've had in a really long time and I fucking loved every minute of it.
im imagining you have the legal name on your profile and all your life people have made fun of you for it so you go to a party and introduce yourself as daniel snutts and you meet a girl and date and get engaged and on your wedding day the priest says "i pronounce you mr and ms.....bofa d. snutts" and *everyone* falls out in laughter except you, with this sullen look on your face.
I just imagine Woolie profusely sweating and looking super nervous while watching the movie
I imagine any white person watching it with woolie sweating, and woolie just nodding
Sweating like a pie thief in the suburbs
God I could listen to this conversation continue forever.
The save point being a lie is just like that one time in Pokemon Fire-red when Gary camped out in front of the poke-center waiting for you.
"You hear the drums" I'm fucking dying
I got so hype like ten minutes into this that I fucking paused the video and went to go see the movie for myself. chris campbell I think "demonizing" is too strong a term to use. But if you don't like the movie why continue to comment?

20:00 MIMIC BONFIRE
Honestly, my favorite scene was when Georgina broke from the hypnotism and laughed/cried.
Man, explaining the subtext to my white, Iowan step-dad is fucking painful.
Roasted Pheasant You know white people can understand the sub-text too, right?
Bet you're mad your mom is a race traitor.
I saw that movie with my little bro and our parents. We were quiet for a good 8 minutes of the ride home and then just exploded into talking about the movie.

35:10 Holy shit, I got goosegumps
The sad part where Woolie didn't post-in "YO WE'RE DONE TALKING ABOUT IT AT ____" so I wound up just skipping the entire podcast.
The Typer he did though, well before they started talking about it
Matt is trying extra hard to contribute to the conversation
Sam Cherry imagine how awkward he feels lol
I disagree. Matt had a lot to add.
@@codafett totally, he seems a lot more relaxed than normal on this podcast actually
I don't mind Opie, but Matt is what people describe Opie from O&A as.
His greed and apparently disdain for Pat and Woolie's chemistry is what killed the crew. Ironic since they were fans of O&A
Just act causal people, people look different that's all.
10:00 My white ass feels that every time I go down town
This made me watch it with my black girlfriend , uncomfortable as fuck, loved it
Oh my lord is that THE satchbag on the super best friendcast!?
you know whats funny , matt tells woolie his blacker then him like a few days later
nemsis turboverdirve oh no
nemsis turboverdirve well, Woolie isn't black
I listened to the podcast while doing something else and somehow ended up thinking that it was a typical social comentary movie not this evil cultist thing
I guess the start of the conversation made me think and assume the style of movie it was yet somehow ended skipping/missing all the hypnotism and brain transplant stuff
Goddamn this movie was amazing!
I was under the impression this was going to be an utterly shit movie from the trailers, but now I'm going to turn of the spoiler cast 2 minutes in so I can give it a chance.
why did you assume that? also what did you think of it?
im visualluzing a very different movie
"Do to your genetic makeup, you'd be a beast in the ring" the white guy says, to a black guy that's skinnier than him.
Seriously tho, Keith Stanfield played Snoop Dogg and L, two of the most skinny guys ever.
40:15
heh, the "next hack" woolie predicts here is 2020's Antebellum
Anyone know the podcast number?
Who is the paper bag guy?
Satchel
like a bag
I tried to search him up, could you send me a link please?
idk how to share channels on mobile lol heres a video th-cam.com/video/L9Vhp92aq4U/w-d-xo.html
So to summarize the film and podcast, instead of weaboos we have white people obsessed with black people or being "black"?
not surprised pat isnt there
Pat's building up his streaming donations to buy a nice, tall body.
The only part of get out that I liked was the part where the black guy picks cotton out of the arm-chairs arms then stuffs it in his ears to save himself from the rich old liberal hypnotist woman.
I couldn't stop laughing cause Pat was so quiet throughout this whole thing probably thinking about his alt right girlfriend like "Oh fuck this is awkward as FUCK!"
lmao
Pat wasn't in this cast iirc.
'alt right girlfriend'
Is Paige based? I didn't know she was based.
Paiges now deleted tweets about her "best friend Ben Shapiro or Milo whatever the fuck dipshit" is something i quiet enjoy to reminisce every now and then.
This fanbase is fuuuuucked and i love it. Cheers.
just watched it and now wish i had watched the movie these guys think they watched
It's not genius it's skeleton key with the races flipped of the protagonist and antagonist
I think the line the father gives about Obama is just a way to shit on trump though. Go back and listen to the line again and the way Chris agrees with the father makes me think they were using that line for that.
The movie was first written during Obama's first term, but if it was then cool.
Awwww yeah you right. I wonder if he was announced that he was running at that point.
I saw this movie a month ago and it's not a good movie at all, I got the premise but it didnt stick with me and I got bored of it halfway through
