Exactly. 😊 Unfortunately, I think the answer is... people follow programing; which is to work a 9-5 job in order to buy a box house that used a lot of resources to build: resources that support a lot of different polluting industries. And, so the programming continues. 😕😣😧
Maybe because it's a fortune to build and few people have the know how to do it. A dome is not as space efficient as a cube. Footprint is large, so also expensive. Modern architecture often uses a roof as a garden, but it's still not affoardable.
A couple of reasons. First, they built it themselves. To get a construction company to do something like this would be enormously expensive. 2nd, it doesn't fit modern codes. Trying to get a government to agree with something like this would be almost impossible. People who try things outside the "norm" have a huge disadvantage. One of the biggest problems is that the .gov wants engineers to sign off on anything that doesn't fit current code (massive expense) and insurance companies won't insure it.
Why aren't we building like this today? There are two answers to that - a short one and a long one! Short one is "we used to" but the long one is too complex for this space so I'm currently writing a book about! To elaborate even a short answer: a couple of centuries ago, when we were in principle building same way as we are today still, a common man, a farmer or a tradesman, typically without much education to speak of but armored with knowledge and wisdom inherited from forebears KNEW BETTER than we are today, took advantage of cardinal orientation, local materials, natural principles and wasted nothing! Today we are placing houses parallel to adjacent roads (which some senseless art-college graduate slash county council planning department employee scribbled on "general" plan at first place), building clusters of completely pointless, short-lived sleeping quarters while ruthlessly ignoring Solar gain via Cardinal alignment to South, natural light, Summer and Winter Arc, heat loss, Solar shading etc. but also the importance of Organic Social Environment, Working Full Loop Infrastructure, Circular Economy etc. etc. the sum of which can be only described as >>Total Ignorance of Nature, Environment, Social Structure, Future of this Planet and ALL of its inhabitants" derived by our long cultivated arrogance as a "rulers of the world and nature" that we have acquired though our schooling since second half of 19th century! What has to happen' is the entire Paradigm Shift from "ruling race" attempting to control and govern Nature and to become "Conscientious Custodians" of that incredible Space Ship of ours called Planet Earth with all its inhabitants and organic structures, to grow out of our infancy as human race and start behaving and acting AT LEAST as adolescents with potential to grow up and reach certain meaningful maturity one day! So far - standing by!
We found the Skywalker residence! Just WOW! And that Fridge, built into the kitchen islands instead of taking wall space, every house should have one and I love the science behind it!

@@teremertz Talk about living on the edge lol. I would definitely want to be above high tide and above any estimated sea-level rise in the future. So a hill/house on a high clearing with a path that slopes down a hundred feet to the beach and sea level.
"We call it "earth integrated" because it's integrated into the earth." That really clears up the important distinction between dome houses with dirt piled on top vs. box-shaped houses with dirt piled on top.

@@TurboHommy certainly there are differences. Some people can design or engineer, but do not do the building. @empbac I wonder. A tual marble stone is expensive. The dust might be a production waste product? This may be worth a few internet searches. :). Found it: Retail today, in very small quantities of 4 lbs dry, it is $2.25 per pound. It is like gesso, so you would basically paint it onto the concrete. Not bad! A lot cheaper than tile and many other wall coverings.
@@AnonGaming333 I would think the dust would be a cheap waste product from making marble statues, countertops etc. like sawdust. But if it was too expensive you could get practically the same result with white paint although possibly not as durable. In other words you might need to repaint every 20 years.

And it's got vents for fresh air circulation.

@@AnonGaming333 Maybe could also used crushed glass?
