^^^ THIS! As an actor, that monologue is something you dream of, and Nicolaij ate it up and licked the plate. It still takes my breath away all these years later.
The song that Stannis's daughter was singing was a line from a character that wasn't in the show. His name was patches that was a fool that served her and was pretty crazy.
The scene with Arya and Gendry is so sad in the books. The readers also get Arya's thoughts while it's happening and she is really upset that he's not going to be with her anymore. Same with Hotpie. She feels like everyone she loves goes away. She really considered both of them family. She is also still quite young through all of this. Around 10 at the time. She's also scared the entire time that her family will not want her back because of the people she's killed. In the books she kills the stable boy. But she also kills the guards at Harrenhal so they can escape. The Unsullied were also given new names every day. Not just the one at birth. To the masters, having one name would give them individual identities if they kept the same name. So Grey Worm kept Grey Worm because he considered it lucky.
@@Rash23215 while yes it was a horrible thing he did, u gotta really think about it, if bran told anyone and robert found out he would die, cersei would die, the downfall of his entire house and death of his children, war would break out and thousands would suffer and die. yes its his fault, the things he does for love.

You think Margaery and Lady Olenna look alike now... you should see pictures of Diana Rigg when she was Natalie Dormer's age. They look like they could be sisters. Stannis sons were stillborn... though keeping their corpses is kinda messed up.
For all the horrible things Jamie has done, killing King Aerys.... wasn't one of them. I DON'T UNDERSTAND how people were mad at Jamie for killing the Mad King, even if the Mad King didn't order him to kill his dad, the man was killing inocents left and right, hell, Ned and Robert WERE planing to kill the Mad King.
This is the episode that gave me mad respect for the Lannisters. One, with Tylan cleverness. And two, more importantly, this episode gave me empathy for Jaime. Jaime became the most dynamic character in the show for me after this episode. I went from feeling like Jaime was the worst most evil character to feeling bad for him. Thats good writing. I ended up naming my cat after Jaime .
Jamie's "Ned Stark has no right to judge me" persecution complex never really hit with me. He killed a couple people in defense of hundreds of thousands of innocents, and when the authorities arrived (Ned), he said nothing. Then, during his trial in the court of public opinion (the following hours, days, weeks), he refused to testify. Now he complains that he's being called (accurate) names because no one knows his story. He didn't tell his story! Short of someone torturing the information out of him, he is the only one who decides if people know the truth or not, if people call him Kingslayer or not.
There's a certain stubborness to it for sure but to be fair, if I was him, I would take the knowledge of a weapon that powerful to my grave. God knows what people might have done with it
Facts. Which puts more weight behind Jorah's words for me, because he knows full-well Selmy would body him, and he said it with a full chest and straight shoulders regardless.
Excellent reaction and introduction of new plot lines. I see the two Lannister boys as inspired by the Princes in the Tower - the sons of Edward IV who were placed under the care of Richard III...basically usurped the throne and the boys were never seen again. There were two skeletons found in recent history and it is surmised that they may actually be the Princes, but the royal family will not allow DNA testing. Also, I see Selyse, Stannis's wife, as Kathryn of Aragon...1st wife of Henry VIII , she had several miscarriages and their only surviving child was their daughter Mary (Queen Mary I).

This is a perfect episode showing the Lannisters don't actually have wealth. They are in massive debt, and that's why I laugh whenever I hear "a Lannister always pays their debts", except for the Iron Bank they owe...
Dev had a great point in pointing out how similar Olenna and Margaery Tyrell's actresses looked. Go google Olenna's actress, Diana Rigg, and the pictures that come up from the 1960's (especially when she starred in the original Avengers) look almost exactly like Margaery's actress.
Now..... I know that Sansa had her heart set on a different husband. But if I'm her, I'm not gonna be upset with that arrangement. Tyrion has literally been THE ONLY PERSON in kings landing that has treated her with compassion and understanding, without an ulterior motive. He has stood up to Joffrey for her, he was able to get Shay in there and give her a friend, and he has been sympathetic for all the awful things his family has done to her. I know it's not ideal for her, but in this day and age, it could have been a lot worse.
But he is still a Lannister. His family killed hers, and marrying him is not freedom. She will still be close to Joffrey and Cersei forever. But marrying Loras Tyrell meant freedom; it meant she would leave King's Landing
@@Hafsah_AdilRespectfully, can Sansa fans please get past making excuses for her endless bad decisions throughout the series. Her fans love to say she learned so much while in KL but even this far into the show she’s still acting like day 1 Sansa. If escaping KL was so important to her then maybe she should have left with the Hound or with Littlefinger. But no, what Sansa is and STILL hoping for is a fairytale escape where she’s not only free but also on top of the world. This only highlights how little she’s learned and makes it less believable down the line when we are supposed to respect her intelligence when she’s only been an airhead season after season. It’s like taking a bunch of Spanish classes in school but never taking it seriously but somehow waking up years later magically being fluent in Spanish…HOW??? This season would have been an excellent point in the show to have her up her game and try to use something like her femininity or her connection to the North as a way to ensure Tyrion stays true to her and her cause and maybe try widening the rift that already exist between him & his family. But instead we have to endure more childlike, head in the clouds dialogue from her when instead we should be seeing action which illustrates that she truly understands the situation she’s in. But she doesn’t which only points to the fact that she still hasn’t learned anything 😂 and her apologist keep on pumping out excuses…she’s young & naive 😂. No, she’s just stupid. Most disappointing main character in the entire series and it’s not even close.
Stannis keeps his daughter locked up down there because she is afflicted with Greyscale, and he is somewhat ashamed of her I think. We hear more about it later, but Greyscale is typically a death sentence, and most people who get it are sent away to Valyria to live out the rest of their days because there is no known treatment. I coulda gotten some of this wrong

Lord of Light is taken from the Zoroastarians who inspired Xianity with its beliefs in two deities - a light god and a dark god. Only in Xianity, Lucifer became a name for Satan even though they were originally two different characters in the Bible. Satan was an angel with a job description for a name in The Book of Job, while Lucifer literally meant the planet Venus (morning star) but was obviously a gibe at some king or the other that Isaiah didn't like. As in "ooh Lucifer, aren't you bright and rising and oops there you go." kind of like the way we use Einstein or Sherlock to taunt people today.
One thing I’ve always thought was interesting and this may be a continuity error is did you recognize that Stanis’ daughter, Shireen has blonde hair? If you remember Ned Stark, based on the Great Book of Houses, determined that Joffrey was Jamie and Cersei’s because Joffrey had blonde hair and every Baratheon listed in the book had black of hair. But, here we have Robert’s brother, Stanis, black of hair and his wife, black of hair, produce a dirty, blonde hair child which goes against the Book of Houses - Baratheon - black hair lineage. So, if Robert’s brother and wife can produce a dirty blonde hair child - then why couldn’t Robert (black hair) and Cersei (blonde hair) produce a blonde hair child? One possible solution is as Shireen is kept locked up maybe she was never observed and added to the Book of Houses so no one knew a Baratheon had blonde hair- or - maybe only men are in the book. I only seem to remember Ned reading men’s names. But, Shireen’s dirty blonde hair is a potential debunk that maybe, just maybe, some of Cersei’s children are not all Jamie’s but could be Roberts!

Bravo for not truncating Jaime's confession and side of the story. This is one of the best dialogues in the series.
Another of my favorite scenes. I honestly love Jaime. It’s fun watching first time watchers slowly come over after hearing his side.
Top tier acting. One of the classic GoT scenes.
Brother really said truncating
He still slept with his sister, had 3 inbred children, and pushed a boy off a ledge and made him cripple. So there's still no redemption.
Season 3 and 4 are peak TV. The Jaime bath scene is one of the best in the series, and that's saying something.
