For a Prius engine that’s absolutely insane man! I shared (if you don’t mind) about this car on Instagram and it left a few people confused, I don’t think anyone has heard of a prius swapped car. I can’t speak for them but I’m all here for it, it’s a pretty damn cool build man! That exhaust sounds glorious!
Hey thanks for that! Yes it doesnt sound like a combo that makes sense, but it works out well haha. If you want a bit more of an overview of the car, the guys from Moving Our World put together this awesome video when I went to the drags which covers some other bits in more detail. There isn't much in life that's more fun than smashing expensive gear in a well-sorted shitbox at a public track day. Seeing you pass that Merc over the top of the hill was delightful.
Man, this blew my mind! I was thinking about getting my 2 door Echo a 2ZZ swap but good ones are unobtanium. Prius engines are more attainable. You were hauling ass in that track! Thank you for this, it gives me hope for my budget build 🔥
Yes I feel the same way. 2ZZ is a great motor! But they are hard to find. You really need to buy a whole car to do the swap and that's beyond my budget. The end result would be amazingly fast, just need to look at some of the Puerto Rico 2ZZ Echos running 10 second quarter miles NA! But also, my 1NZ car is running faster than a lot of standard 2ZZ powered cars. And can keep pace with some of the Hondas as well. So I'm more than happy with how everything has turned out. I have no plans of putting any other engine into this car.
Awesome. Ive had this car for about 9 years now. I bought it as second owner with 30,000km on it. I drove it completely standard to 200,000km, and it was awesome.
The car looks and sounds like a blast to drive! I used to have a Yaris several years ago, I wish I had performance like this in it! It would have made highway merging alot less hair raising.
Thanks, heading back to same track on Jan 14th but on some slicks and with a better cooling system. As it was losing power from getting a bit too hot. But I was blown away by how well it ran!
Always wanted to do something like this when I had an Echo. Looks like a riot. I remember that gear ratio tho.. this is begging for a 6-speed if it hasn't had one put in already.
Yeah 6 speed would be cool, the C56 box is not too bad though. I parted out this car to work on another project, but probably would have stuck with the 5 speed. As 6 speed too hard to find a replacement if you blow one up.
@@RomanDaveThings I'm curious. Did you keep the motor to put into something interesting? Are the mods listed in this video everything you used to get to 9k rpm and 140whp? You used the factory 2016 prius c cam gears?
@adamdrumonde1664 a friend bought the engine, so it will go into a vitz RS at some point. Yes only those mods, I ran my fastest quarter mile time with a fully standard exhaust.
It was great. Today was the first time trying e-throttle rev match. So I could just leave my foot on the brake pedal, motor blips it automatically. It was awesome!
is the short block standard? we don't get any performance variances of the engine here in the states so i had no clue what a prius motor could be. it has a smoother, throatier tone to it than a honda k series.
How did you make that much power from that engine? It produces 74 hp from factory. I read it has 13.4 physical comp ratio but 9.5 dynamic comp. Does it have to do with the cams?
@@DimZin yes, needed bigger injectors too as standard ones maxxed out. Need an ecu to run it too obviously. Should be a little more now with good exhaust on it
Having driven (what looks the same as a yaris inside) often, i can feel how terrible the steering position is here. That said, there are extension kits available to bring that wheel a good 2" closer to your chest than it is here. It's suggest doing so would give you even more control over the car.
Do you have any details on the S1000RR ITB by-wire setup? What year BMW? What are you using as the throttle pedal/signal? Seems like a really clever way to add ITBs to things using modern Standalone ECUs
Hi sorry for the incredibly late reply. There are three variants of the S1000RR throttles. Early ones have a cable pulley on them, but ethrottle motor. Middle stage ones have no cable pulley, single ethrottle. Later ones are dual ethrottle (two cyls each, for bike traction control) The "middle" ones are the one to get. Then I bolted in an ethrottle accellerator pedal from an SCP13 vitz which had it from factory. Then using a link ECU to control it.
Not running a rear sway. Its just dead weight when you can use stiffer springs instead. Im running a mix of ohlins (front) and hks (rear) coilovers. Then some camber bolts in the front to get to -2.4 deg. Using vitz RS front rotors/discs with znoelli pads. Rear is still factory drums because im too lazy to swap in the disc rear setup. Haha.
VVTI works fine, no oil pump issues that I know of. The 1NZ has roughly the same stroke length as an S2000 motor, but a much smaller bore diameter. It's definitely at or beyond the limit of what a cast piston can sustain. I did break a piston on a previous motor. But that was lots of 9200rpm limiter bashing doing burnouts at the drags... Not ideal haha. Longer term really need to look at some forged pistons and rods.
@@RomanDaveThings thank you for these informations, I’m really thinking to do a similar swap and mods, plus in France I can run it with E85 fuel. I saw your 1nzfxe is a 2016 model with electric water pump, a previous model with standard water pump is it ok?

Better yet, do it with a 2AR-FXE and then upgrade the electric motor with one of those 200+hp, tiny, axial-flux motors.
