Double world champ Max Verstappen on why his TAG Heuer Monaco is his "lucky charm"

Last weekend, Max Verstappen joined the pantheon of multiple world-champ greats. Winning the title once may be a hugely impressive accomplishment, but out of 34 F1 champions, only half have been able to repeat the feat. Though touted as a hot-headed teen upon his entry into the sport, Max has matured into a clinical, calm and collected racer, seemingly presenting the same in interviews. In this video for T+T, he talks about motivation, lessons from his early racing days, and why his TAG Heuer Monaco has become his "lucky charm".

Andrew got the chance to speak to Super Max after qualifying in this this year's Monaco Grand Prix, which saw Ferrari storm the field, locking out the front row with a stonking performance from the Charles and Carlos duo. While Verstappen's Red Bull team secured a second row start, the first of many Ferrari strategy cock-ups this season would throw away a 1-2 finish, resulting in Max's team-mate, Sergio Pérez, winning the race, while Max took the lowest step of the podium.
While Max didn't necessarily have the weekend of dreams in his pseudo-home Grand Prix, he went on to secure eight more victories after Monaco for a total of 12, and with four races left still has the chance to break the per-season win record of 13, currently jointly held by Seb Vettel and Michael Schumacher. Much like the two German greats, Max secured his title on Japanese soil, winning in treacherous, rain-soaked conditions at Suzuka, seemingly cruising to a 27-second lead by the end.
With a 165-point constructors' championship lead, Red Bull is on track to beat Ferrari again, which would be their first title of the turbo-hybrid era thus far dominated by Mercedes. Next stop - the US of A.

I am a huge F1 fan and this is one of the best interviews I have seen in the sport.... F1 interviewers, take some notes.
Uhm. Ok.
Everyone else knows Max is a big critic of Drive to Survive and doesn't want to be involved as they sensationalize F1 and make up juicy stories.
Kind of makes him seem not really in the loop regarding F1. Which could be interesting... but it wasn't really. To be honest, it was only 1 minute 30, if even, watch talk. That should have been the most part if not all of the chat, that's Andrew's expertise and it would've given them some common ground and sharing of passion with some cooler insights (like: 'do you have a watch that was passed on through generations?', 'what's in your collection?', 'if you were to design a watch, what would it look like, what feature would you like to add to it?' for example) which would be nicer for Max than the run-of-the-mill questioning 'what must it be for you to race at home in Monaco?', 'you and Lewis really pushed eachother last season, eh?' he's probably getting constantly during the weekend.
F1 news media companies need a complete overhaul of new talent.
Max always gives great interviews with his intelligent, focused analytical mind. Max is always so honest and he is the Great Max Verstappen. I haven't seen driving talent like Max since Senna. Max has that same burning desire and amazing talent. Max is clearly the greatest at this time in F1. Go MAX 👍

What an iconic interview. As a Mercedes fan I started to be very impressed by Max Verstappen when I first saw him driving live in LeCastellet this year. His attitude and his driving is just on another level. Looking forward what he will achieve in his future

I've seen Max wearing the (round) TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Gold Jack Heuer's Birthday Limited Edition on several occassions.
Now that's the kind of watch I'd like to see TAG Heuer do more of!
