It was 30 years ago this month that we lost Kurt. A beautiful tribute to have this released in April 2024. Thank you from a huge Kurt and Nirvana fan in Seattle.❤
This is the first time I've understood how controlled Kurt's vocal technique was. I always believed he was straining/shouting and giving it everything. He makes it look like that in so many performances. But here, before the "proper" cameras roll, you can see the same signature sound, but it's effortless e.g 2:42. His whole apathetic anti-musician shtick was genius, because beneath it was a real depth of skill.
man i was just thinking THE SAME THING!!!!!!! nice to see kurt doing that effortlessly, he’s hitting those notes more smoothly than normal, i guess maybe the type of drive he did was bad, but anyway
Yeah I was just thinking during the intro to Territorial Pissings how fun it would be, if I were actually a musical genius, to pretend I was kind of shitty at guitar and singing and yet also letting out a continuous string of awesome hooks. And to dress up in the clothes and live the lifestyle. It would be a great act. But lord knows how many dudes tried it after Nirvana hit it big, and I feel like we saw through every one of them.
Reminds me of Cristina Aguilera or Whitney Houston’ or Mariah the Carey! Such Tonality, range, power, control. A true vocal genius and velvet voice of the decade. Allegedly
Thanks for allowing the rest of us to see this! Kindof ridiculous how the gatekeepers of livenirvana kept this hidden, only viewable to those in their exclusive little elite sub group and not properly distributed to the regular ln members.
Thanks for that very interesting, as a Nirvana fan first time around as I've gotten older and gained a wider perspective, a lot of the mystic and hyperbole about Nirvana has faded and my knowledge continues to evolve in part with the help of these uploads to gain a greater(an hopefully accurate) understanding
Kurt looks at the black Stratocaster he just strapped on thinks, “I’m so gonna smash the hell out of you tonight. They think you’re my second song guitar, but you’re my smashy guitar.”
During the most successful times of these fellas lives was my worst years growing up. I lost my dad in a car crash in 91 and 92 we moved to a new school district where I was bullied and picked on constantly, it was my knowledge of drawing that saved me then. Though I do not miss these years growing up, I do miss the music scene. Especially when these guys took off cause they helped bring in a whole new genre of music.
I think it wasn't so much the new genre, but just Kurt's charisma that made everything explosive and fresh. We wanted to identify with this scream. While Kurt had a tendency to mix genres, it's a shame that early 1992 was the beginning of his end. Because maybe it would really be something new.

Wanna take the feeling out of a musician playing the song live??, have him play it 10,000 times... Can't you just see the excitement dripping from his face!! 🫠😬
I was going to say, they fkn played these songs sideways backwards. Just do a sound check and that's it! They are ready! He often played with guitars not quite in tune, didnt really care and neither did his fans. Way over controlled should have bailed like the chick singing with Metallica...

In 8th grade 2002 I had my friend with a computer and fast internet burn me a DVD with all Nirvana stuff and I watched SLTS on SNL 1,000 times. I was obsessed. @phyntaman oh, it's just a meme like "screaming crying throwing up" :D the description says "from Russia with love" so I wanted to show that we got the message. And yeah, we're not really fine, but we never are. It's a bad time to be a punk in this goddamn prison.
