i love that he whispered about robbing a bank to end up in there with him so he can rip his skin off and wear it like a cape. at least that's what i would have said it's one of the grossest things i could think of

Unfortunately the high amount of false accusations makes the need for the cops to be as nonviolent as possible, imagine if you got accused of being a child predator falsely and the cops come to your house and shoot you dead

I liked Voight’s anger here; he really made that guy scared, plus I liked how he said he had the guy thrown in with the general population at the end of the episode.
I would say like 75% of the time guards throw the child molesters to the convicts that follow the rules of hurt them badly

For those who don't know, the speech he gives in the interrogation room is actually pretty accurate. Convicts HATE people who hurt kids for the most part
Pretty much. You could be freaking Osama Bin Laden, but the second you cross that line, you're gonna be the target of people FAR worse than Fleece Johnson.
No joke. A friend of mine had to see a judge for something, told us a story about this one guy that attacked someone on the stand, and the judge responded saying that he didn't have to worry about the convict, because the others would take care of him.

Guard: I'll tell you but I want 6 months of quiet and no bullshit.
Inmate: Bet.
Guard: He was child trafficker. 2 kids died because of him. He won't be missed.
Inmate: We'll take care of him.
I love this comment sm. The fact that this actually happens in jail. Prisoners who find out if other inmates hurt children will beat the crap out of them

There was a case in Denmark, where the guards made a "mistake" during shift rotation, meaning there was no guard for a few minutes. The guys nuts was placed on a hot plate...

I was channel surfing and caught this scene. I had never seen Chicago PD before. I replayed the scene for my husband. We've been hooked ever since.
I liked that look he gave the guy as he shot him.
I never understand the logic of "I'll shoot my hostage if you come closer" like, dude, if the hostage is dead you got no more meat shield and the cops won't hesitate to light you up
True but so long as they aren't dead you got leverage as cops don't want to see an innocent person killed.

The real deterrent to prison is never what the guards will do, but rather the inmates.
The inmates generally have the same universal code of what is beyond unforgiveable.
And no, they're not dumb thugs. They know, nad if they don't, you better believe they'll find out.
Just shows the saying 'honor among thieves' is true. They may be in jail for stealing, gun crimes, etc., but if they get wind there is a child predator among them, the gloves come off.
When I was locked up we had a guy come thru the guards let us know what he did and every race had “fun” with him most guards would look the other way when we dealt with them

@@RockDay-wv8jq That's the thing almost every hard af criminal incarcerated has one thing in common, and that is an abusive childhood. They know what it was like being a child and being victimized. There's a reason why even the AB considers children off limits.

My best friend was abused as a child so I definitely feel Voights anger. At the end of the day you have to make the bad guy scared of the dark.

Agreed. As you said, there are some people in this world that just need to be made to be afraid of the dark.
Your anger is based in reality. This character is written to be satisfying to the viewer, but in any semblance of real life, more than half of his cases wouldn’t go to trial due to coercion, and police brutality. You can try to make the bad guy afraid of the dark, but if you do it illegally, there’s a good chance the bad guy won’t see the inside of a prison.

I still would've made sure he made it to general population and slipped info to the inmates... Rules are in place to protect the wrong people, anyone who touches a kid deserves whatever's coming to them... Whether it's in the prison yards or waiting outside their front door

If I recall he walks out of the room, and someone asks him if he actually plans to put him in solitary or whatever, and the cop says “no.”
Even if their in Special Population, guards sometimes make “mistakes” an inmate finds his way to someplace he shouldn’t be. And sadly attacks this poor man brutally. Then slips away. Oh yea the cameras didn’t see anything either. Weird. >.> lol

Guards probably look the other way while the inmates go vigilante on a child predator. It’s the one line that’s never to be crossed. And when it is, it’s open season on the predator.

Inmates who are cops, child molesters, or their relatives are usually the most unsafe in prison. They got targets on their backs & don’t always last long.
This guy though, definitely didn’t last more than a few hours in there. Voight made sure of that. This is just one badass way of how Voight protects the city & the people he loves.
Edit: I should probably add that snitches don’t always last too long in prison as well

Big mistake at the beginning. Jay went after the other guy instead of immediately securing the girl, even though there was already someone covering that escape route. Needlessly put her life in danger.
Halstead is a hypocritical boy scout who keeps wanting to sell Voight out and can't keep it in hid pants when he has a female partner.

There wouldn’t be any predators in prison, cause their cases would be thrown out due to police brutality. Sadly, entertaining fiction doesn’t translate well to real life.
It’s true. Prisons house the worst of society but even they get sick at the idea of hurting a child. And if they know someone in GP with them is a child predator… well… dead man walking.
What I like about the interrogation scene is when Voight gets his hands on the handcuffs it shows that he is still debating on killing him. First as brass knuckles and then using the chain as a means of choking him. It’s a small detail that I appreciate.
I guess we know now who trainned Batman in the art of intimidation...And his name is Hank Voight!

I know the writers want us to think about this, but when I watch CPD it’s hard to reconcile the part of my brain that hates police brutality, and the part that knows that if someone does this to a child it’s a fraction of what I wish would happen to the perp.
You can be against police brutality and be 100% for monsters being put down like the diseased dogs they are.
Police brutality happens more often on TV than in the real world.
And Sickos like this get off more lightly in the real world than they do on tv.

Yeah by the end of the day, some of these prisoners are also fathers, uncles, grandpa that rarely sees their children or not anymore. And somehow they put their anger on people like this criminal.
So many Dads and moms are incarcerated and missing their children more than anything else about freedom
as badass as that scene, I'm pretty sure that's not the SOP for dealing with a hostage situation. lots of thing could've gone wrong. the guy could've shot the kid, even if it's just out of fear or nervousness.....
i don't know if it's SOP or not i'm obviously not a cop but that seems like the guy got himself into almost a no win situation door #1 guy shoots the kid hank shoots him but non fatally guy gets to spend what little time he has left in general population where sooner or later what he did will be found out door #2 he points the gun at hank we saw how that turned out which leaves us with door # 3 drop the gun and save yourself the terrible fates of doors # 1 and 2

The one thing that about 99% of the criminals in jail agree on is that those that hurt children are the worst and will be dealt with in horrifying ways.

It makes me cry happy tears that such sick people would get even sicker treatment after what they've done to kids.
I did not receive the protection I needed for what I went through when I was a child.
(Childhood sxual assault by older sibling. For 4 to 5 years, including mental abuse.)
It makes me feel validated and loved for being stood up for like this. Even if it's just a series on tv.
The ending is so healing to look at even if others wouldn't understand. And I love Hank's harshness toward that guy.
It makes me feel like humans actually care. Never really felt that. I'm thankful for the portrayal of this kind of protection. I needed this.
It is not just what the other inmates will do, but also what the guards will not do (meaning they will not keep your info quiet and will not respond quickly.
Yeah, I was told once that wether or not you lived as one of those disgusting people is wether or not the guard felt like doing paperwork.

One of Voight’s character is he have soft spot on kids and innocent girls who can’t defend themselves against criminals like this. There are more episodes that Voight went full beast mode just like this one but stopped by his crew.

I find it quite interesting that there is hierarchy in prison. You can have the absolute worst kind of people in there, but even them hate people that do things to kids
They probably do bad to full grown adults, not children who have innocence and have a lot of life ahead of them but mostly innocent

I don't agree with Voight on many things but he remains my favorite character in the Chicago shows. This was absolutely what was needed.

Hank Voight is an ultimate badass how he shot that guy point blank range to save that Girl. I admire his way of doing things and how he is able to get whatever information he needs by whatever means necessary. There’s some episodes that shows Hank’s ability to be the shot caller since he used to work in the gang unit.. all I can think of is either his death on the way to prison or in general population.

Probably a brief but graphic description of what was going to happen to him while incarcerated when he is "accidentally" left in General Population after the other inmates were informed of what he did.

See, these guys who do this(and even women who participate in the getting these kids sometimes for the guys) fail to realize...that most of these inmates, have kids on the outside. They can't be there to protect them. Inmates...have certain, "codes",. not unlike cops. On this, they are mutually on point.
