      Unfortunately the high amount of false accusations makes the need for the cops to be as nonviolent as possible, imagine if you got accused of being a child predator falsely and the cops come to your house and shoot you dead

    I liked Voight’s anger here; he really made that guy scared, plus I liked how he said he had the guy thrown in with the general population at the end of the episode.

      No joke. A friend of mine had to see a judge for something, told us a story about this one guy that attacked someone on the stand, and the judge responded saying that he didn't have to worry about the convict, because the others would take care of him.

      There was a case in Denmark, where the guards made a "mistake" during shift rotation, meaning there was no guard for a few minutes. The guys nuts was placed on a hot plate...

    I never understand the logic of "I'll shoot my hostage if you come closer" like, dude, if the hostage is dead you got no more meat shield and the cops won't hesitate to light you up

    The real deterrent to prison is never what the guards will do, but rather the inmates.
    The inmates generally have the same universal code of what is beyond unforgiveable.
    And no, they're not dumb thugs. They know, nad if they don't, you better believe they'll find out.

      Just shows the saying 'honor among thieves' is true. They may be in jail for stealing, gun crimes, etc., but if they get wind there is a child predator among them, the gloves come off.

    My best friend was abused as a child so I definitely feel Voights anger. At the end of the day you have to make the bad guy scared of the dark.

      Your anger is based in reality. This character is written to be satisfying to the viewer, but in any semblance of real life, more than half of his cases wouldn’t go to trial due to coercion, and police brutality. You can try to make the bad guy afraid of the dark, but if you do it illegally, there’s a good chance the bad guy won’t see the inside of a prison.

    I still would've made sure he made it to general population and slipped info to the inmates... Rules are in place to protect the wrong people, anyone who touches a kid deserves whatever's coming to them... Whether it's in the prison yards or waiting outside their front door

    Inmates who are cops, child molesters, or their relatives are usually the most unsafe in prison. They got targets on their backs & don’t always last long.
    This guy though, definitely didn’t last more than a few hours in there. Voight made sure of that. This is just one badass way of how Voight protects the city & the people he loves.
    Edit: I should probably add that snitches don’t always last too long in prison as well

    Big mistake at the beginning. Jay went after the other guy instead of immediately securing the girl, even though there was already someone covering that escape route. Needlessly put her life in danger.

    What I like about the interrogation scene is when Voight gets his hands on the handcuffs it shows that he is still debating on killing him. First as brass knuckles and then using the chain as a means of choking him. It’s a small detail that I appreciate.

    I know the writers want us to think about this, but when I watch CPD it’s hard to reconcile the part of my brain that hates police brutality, and the part that knows that if someone does this to a child it’s a fraction of what I wish would happen to the perp.

      Yeah by the end of the day, some of these prisoners are also fathers, uncles, grandpa that rarely sees their children or not anymore. And somehow they put their anger on people like this criminal.

    as badass as that scene, I'm pretty sure that's not the SOP for dealing with a hostage situation. lots of thing could've gone wrong. the guy could've shot the kid, even if it's just out of fear or nervousness.....

      i don't know if it's SOP or not i'm obviously not a cop but that seems like the guy got himself into almost a no win situation door #1 guy shoots the kid hank shoots him but non fatally guy gets to spend what little time he has left in general population where sooner or later what he did will be found out door #2 he points the gun at hank we saw how that turned out which leaves us with door # 3 drop the gun and save yourself the terrible fates of doors # 1 and 2

    The one thing that about 99% of the criminals in jail agree on is that those that hurt children are the worst and will be dealt with in horrifying ways.

    It makes me cry happy tears that such sick people would get even sicker treatment after what they've done to kids.
    I did not receive the protection I needed for what I went through when I was a child.
    (Childhood sxual assault by older sibling. For 4 to 5 years, including mental abuse.)
    It makes me feel validated and loved for being stood up for like this. Even if it's just a series on tv.
    The ending is so healing to look at even if others wouldn't understand. And I love Hank's harshness toward that guy.
    It makes me feel like humans actually care. Never really felt that. I'm thankful for the portrayal of this kind of protection. I needed this.

    One of Voight’s character is he have soft spot on kids and innocent girls who can’t defend themselves against criminals like this. There are more episodes that Voight went full beast mode just like this one but stopped by his crew.

    I find it quite interesting that there is hierarchy in prison. You can have the absolute worst kind of people in there, but even them hate people that do things to kids

    Hank Voight is an ultimate badass how he shot that guy point blank range to save that Girl. I admire his way of doing things and how he is able to get whatever information he needs by whatever means necessary. I just wonder what he whispered into the guys ear sitting in the chair though does anyone know what Voight may have said?

      There’s some episodes that shows Hank’s ability to be the shot caller since he used to work in the gang unit.. all I can think of is either his death on the way to prison or in general population.

    See, these guys who do this(and even women who participate in the getting these kids sometimes for the guys) fail to realize...that most of these inmates, have kids on the outside. They can't be there to protect them. Inmates...have certain, "codes",. not unlike cops. On this, they are mutually on point.
