Forging a Viking Axe from random junk I’ve had laying around my shop for ages. I take a quick dive into the forge to forge weld some scrap leaf spring to an old axe head, shape the handle from an old ash baseball bat, and finally top it all of with some creatively sourced leather for the handle wrap. This was a fun little project, although it wasn’t as brutally time consuming as some of my other builds, the end result is badass.
I intended for this build to be a little different than my others, instead of retaining a wasteland aesthetic from the components I wanted to really test the potential of these materials by transforming junk into a work of art. I love the final product, not only is it beautiful, but the thing packs a serious punch. Enjoy the fast paced, no BS build video; thanks for watching!
that axe throw near the ending is cherry on top of the icing ngl
The sound of that belt coming off took me way back
Lmao
I'd really love to see him make a video explaining all the steps he does to forge a weapon and why.

Actually it was two iron in this case(mods)😂
Minecraft
In my opinion , one of the best jobs done replicating that kind of axe on TH-cam , specially because you're not claiming that it's a perfect replica of what a viking axe is supposed to be. Great job man !
One mans trash is another persons treasure.
One mans trash is another mans viking axe
Metal is sort of eternal matter - it can`t be a trash or someone`s treasure - wether it`s Eldorado gold or Viking`s machete.
Well unless it`s Metallica.
4:55 I imagine that all of your oven made pizza tasted slightly of metal after that

This is convenient time to upload since I just came across your videos and subbed a few hours ago and I've been binge watching your videos since.
❤️
plot twist: no belt were harmed in this video
was
Very impressed. Half my family is Norse Viking. The other half is Cherokee. I was brought up around axes, bows, & spears. Very impressed. It is a nice axe.
the kind of video I love to watch before bed 🙌💭 ...incredible creation ...
Since I only have a coal forge I'm going to start making axes like this after my first forged weld went very well making a tomahawk. Great video.
Odin is with us!
Always has been.
Sir, I am in awe at the vast amount of talent you have. Thank you for the inspiration.
Thank you!
that axe throw was so satisfying
Не плохо, радует разнообразное оснащение оператора, хотя большинство технологических шагов можно упростить, а результат улучшить... Удачи.
that belt was beautiful
Great job bro👍👍👍👍👍👍
Best use of a Wilson baseball bat I have ever seen.
he is forge master!
I liked the belts storage idea very useful
10:03 nice ending 🤣🤣👌🔥
Bad ass....I love all the repurposed materials!!!
5:53 this sound is so satisfying
I fell in love with this chanel today 😍
Thank you!
This is incredible. You are succesful.
A perfectly working bat and belt went to youtube heaven .
The bat was broken.
Nice vid Keaton, it was cool to see part of your build in person.
Thanks man! Yea I'm glad you got to check it out
Adding wood now? Sky's the limit. Excellent build!
It's borax. It acts as a flux and helps the welding process
That axe is worthy to adorn the halls in Valhalla.
I miss your longer videos.
7:21, what are you doing step-smith?
Thanks mate! No talking, just doing.
The maker force is very strong with this one💪💪💪👍👍👍. Just subscribed.

Sweet build! I love it! You always keep things interesting! I still jump everytime I shred a belt😜 nice work on the axe man, especially liked the handle material👊
Thanks you as always! Looking forward to your next build bro
6:32 Chewbacca had a hard time finding work after the last Star Wars film, so he took up being a blacksmith's assistant.
Nice to see old steel repurposed... and that is a rather vicious hand axe I might add . Subscribed ^.^
Incredible, thanks for it.
This is the coolest thing i have seen. Lol i just wish there were instructions on how i can do this lmao i would love to build one but don’t know half the stuff he is doing lol
This reminds me Assassin's creed Valhalla and eivor's battle axe ( one in world reveal poster)
Ravindu Gayan I’m excited because my ancestors were Vikings!
just love it, i freaking love the AXE man!
FANTASTIC 💓💓💓💓
I got a trick for you : take off the plate of your belt grinder to smooth wood. and work with cubi II and trizact gator, best combo on wood for me .
Nice job man
Tremenda. Voy a hacer lo mismo. Hermosa pieza.saludos desde argentina.

awesome bearded axe,i love the polish
Awesome result; subbed.
I love watching your videos sir💕
Glad you like them!
I'm a viking and i approve this craft! Skål !!!!!
Who loved the axe he made
its three minutes in
This kind of thing is a dream build for me, learned a ton from the video and it answered some questions I had too, regarding that specific forge welding trick, with the splitting down the middle. Just one question though, how did you get the eye to stay aligned/straight? I never saw a drift or punch or anything.
I do wish there was curve in the handle
I’d pay big bucks for a personalized Norse axe made by this guy!
First time I saw on TH-cam the plasma cutter for material removal! I've been wondering why everyone goes for the cutter/grinder method. Perhaps no plasma in the shop. I wondered if it would work or ruin the hardness, but now I'm eager to try it!
Thanks!
Of course it ruins the hardness if you cut a hardened steel. But he was cutting the axe before heat treatment so it's ok.
You are actually good in making beautiful weapons, i have one suggestion for you, make a weapon which name is ' trishul ' as pn hindu mythology, its awesome, i want to see you making trishul, please friend 😄
Great ending 😂
When you quenched it in oil all I could think of was...."Forged in the fires of Mount Doom!" In scary voice
Amazing piece of artistic craftmanship!
Although I couldn't stop yelling "Noooo! Wilsooonnn!!" as you made the handle. I really do love the end result.
Quick question. The 350 on your oven. That Fahrenheit or Celsius?
Thank you! 350F for the temper
This is really cool.
Why doesn’t anyone ever put a metal handle on anything but swords?
かっこええですなあ!
Give some geht some, very nice material choice!!!
everybody gangsta when he took off his belt
Beautiful wish i hade the tools to make it
You did a great job setting that weld but it still looks sketchy as hell imo
You should do a video on making a trident
Love the beard of this ax!
"Grand those swords, but I prefer me trusty axe"
Nice dude!
Overall, your axe WILL KEAL! Nice job man.
Amazing !!!
For Valhalla!
When dad comes home to bad grades 7:19
Nice Axe👍🤘😉
Thanks brotha 🤙
Can you call it back into your hands?
Quick question, what do you do with all the stuff you forge? Do u keep them for decoration? Do you sell them? Lmk
Me in quarantine : Eat canned noodles while watching youtube.
This guy in quarantine : Forging a viking axe frome Minecraft .
Me : 😐
Does it really count as forging since you only forge welded it? Awesome axe tho, love it
It will KEEL.........LOL Awesome job man
for the next one, a bigger and heavier ax
One thing I wanted to see... wasn’t done in this video 😢 the eye on the axe head wasn’t modified! There’s supposed to be a wider and sorter eye. Like an egg 🥚 shape not a sharp raindrop shape. A modern axe has an hourglass shape inside for shimming. A Viking axe is different. The handle and eye are tapered and the head slides over the handle til the taper traps the head. Then the head can be removed by tapping the handle vertically on the ground. Then the head can be used as a knife.
What's that white powder that gets put on the metal when it's taken out of the furnace?
That's flux, highly reactive stuff that leeches impurities to help the steel weld strongly into one solid piece rather than having a big fault through the join.
What does thermal cycling do for the steel
Absolutely gorgeous axe. Please please please don't do brass handles like some others who shall go nameless.
me :trying to watch the video
mosquitos : 06:40
Can you shoot lot of cutting scenes, and use more slow motion, please 🥺🥺
Nice , i'm from Indonesian
what does the scratching it after quenching it for?
Do you sell the things you restore because I really love that axe
*
Cool, I wish I had such a hatchet!)))*
plz try to explain the whole process so that we can learn from the video
This guy should be a blacksmith in cyberpunk 2077
Can you make dual sword?
