Contrary Spinda's are super expensive right now, you can easily catch Alphas that don't have a healing move by tricking a Lagging Tail onto them and then using the Breloom Sub/Spore tech to catch them.
@@swaffelkonijn1752 Hadn't played in a long time, and holy crap was I surprised to see how many more rain teams are in gym reruns now to stop Typhlosion eruption. In order to make it work it seems like weather setup is now mandatory. Just weird how far they are going to nerf very niche things. Forcing people to use other teams won't stop them from doing the easy gym reruns. It just makes it more tedious. That was Typhlosions only niche too, it's pretty mid for any PvP content. I know it's still good for gym reruns, but not nearly as good as I remember it. Went about most of Sinnoh without even using it.
personally i like to use a bulky spinda (31 HP DEF and SPDEF, 252 Hp 170 Def and 88 Spdef, +Def Nature) with lagging tail trick on the first turn and skill swap on the second turn, only a few pokemon can 1 shot it (namely gallade and some lucario) but if you get the trick off its a free skill swap, and if the alpha ever reverses its stat changes, you'll still outspeed bc of lagging tail. only thing that sucks is if it has a healing move tho.
Yeah there is a lot of nuance you can add to the strategy, I plan to make a more in depth overall alpha catching guide. This covers like 95% of cases for most people so just wanted to make something to shove in the faces of the people that complain that the strat got nerfed.
I had no idea this game even existed. Is this made by fans? Ok answered my own question. It's a collection of the base games with a fan made MMO applied to the games.
If you Double Team and the alpha misses, its guaranteed a hit on the next turn. But using Breloom, you're always going to spore, so the guaranteed hit turn never happens.
-Swoobat has Kluzt to Trick Vest and has SuperFang too. -I prefer Seismiss Toss or other offense move on Breloom over Double Team. -Clefable can help u tank the alpha if Breloom died, no need Haze.
The bright side is you can easily just convert your Delcatty to a Cute Charm catching Pokemon, and your Smeargle can do whatever because it is a Smeargle :D
Not necessary as Contrary effectively acts as a lagging tail but yeah you Sub Breloom can handle a lot of Alphas with just a lagging tail on the Alpha.
I wanted to get some murkrows for when i finally try the red fight, its awesome though that they are helpful for alphas also. I also finished my normalize build a day before the update but now i can just use delcatty for catching. So that's cool.
On my Spinda, Instead of Rock smash and Covet I use Seismic toss for 100 dmg and Trick to put a ring target on Ghosts. Lastly breloom won't benefit from double team since the Alphas Lock-on when they miss. So I use Swords dance to Max my attack for Healing opponents. Try my strategy out. I think you'll like it more!
when alphas lock on when they miss, they only have a 100% chance of hitting on the next turn. so if you spore the alpha before it hits you, it wont matter.

killer videos. love the concise and easy to follow guides. thx for making these!
Thanks for the nice video man! 🎉
Nice Video Caav! Love it and will be definitely working towards having my own alpha catching team thanks to this.
Devs underestimate the power of Nerds. But yeah, devs will always nerf strats that make alpha catching easier.
Which is totally fair on their part. If alpha catching is too easy, it can have negative effects on the economy.
@@caav.pokemmohate the game not the player would be my opinion 🤷 devs shouldnt nerf everything a player outsmarts them on

@@SuperCatacata you use a torkel to counter the rain teams. That mf so slow, it’s drought will override the rain

healing moves are such nightmares. just took me 45 mins to catch an alpha breloom with drain punch😂

What is the accuracy mechanic you mentionned? Something about a guaranteed hit?
If you Double Team and the alpha misses, its guaranteed a hit on the next turn. But using Breloom, you're always going to spore, so the guaranteed hit turn never happens.
ppl always say it's a bad idea but instead of prankster murkrow I use multiscale dragonite with haze and focus sash.
