Did I miss something? $375 and the bottoms weren't finished. The white chairs have exposed slats, staples and uneven frayed edges. The blue chair has scuffed up legs that should be painted or at least touched up. 😮

I was just going to comment on these things. Being able to see the wood slats to the underside of the chairs when you look at them from the front would be a huge no-no to me, I'd never pay money for that....looks very "DIY" and unfinished. I personally don't care for the contrast of the light fabric and the very dark/black metal base, very harsh contrast.....wonder what based would look like spraypainted a metallic silver or gold instead? And yes, being able to easily see the uneven frayed edges of the fabric around the chair bottoms, not a good look at all.

I know the purpose of the video was to show how quickly one can flip chairs, but perhaps if you spruce up the legs on the blue chair and paint the exposed wood on the white chairs to diminish the appearance and staple a simple upholstery braid to cover the staples it will look like you have gone the extra mile to refurbish them.

Lauren, I have been watching you and Neiman since you were in your parents garage and paying off your student loan. I have always admired your work ethic and the quality of your work. I have watched you and Neiman continuously through good and bad. I have felt like a proud parent. But I’m not sure about these chairs. The white ones are really pretty but I feel like something should’ve been done to cover up the staples and to make the fabric not droop in areas around the bottom, also maybe something should be done about the legs that show. The blue one is OK it’s not my favorite, but hey, each to his own. You’re gonna have some that aren’t as great as others, but just keep on working toward the end goal. Take care, stay safe.

Yikes, $375 for the chairs with the staples. I cut the bulk off the skirts, especially around the corners, then fold the fabric under tightly and staple. I stopped ripping them off a long time ago, after running into similar issues. The piping looks so much better than staple holes or actual staples. Cutting the extra fabric off so it's unnoticeable is key. Anything with mid-century modern legs sell better for me, compared to rockers, as well. ❤

  • @lisbethslvhj5380
    @lisbethslvhj5380 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

Skirts are put on to hide the staples. When you know that youll put on skirts you dont bother to pull the fabric underneath the frame and staple it there, where you cannot see them. That means that if you remove the skirts, youll have to cover the staples with a trim or something like that. Also the skirts hide the legs, so the manufactorer dont pay too much attention to them , which means that you need to do something to make them look better. As an old upholsterer I am really not impressed with the result. The bottoms are not finished and the legs not too good looking. As for the price, I dont know about USA. but here in Denmark you would probably not be able to get more than 20 dollars a piece. Love your paint work, this not so much. BTW there is a special tool to remove staples with, you can also use a small piano-plyer which has very pointed ends. Kind regards from Denmark

I think if you finished the bottom edge of the fabric, you'd be more likely to get the price you want. Considering the condition of the bottom edge, the price seems a bit high. Maybe finish it off with a colour matched trim that would cover the holes from the staples and the unfinished bottom edge.

RE: Swivel chairs, have you considered converting them into desk chairs by replacing the bottom rocker/swivel stand with a used base from old desk chair? Upholstered wing back desk chairs are priced higher than brand new sitting chairs. Also when removing the skirt a new trim will give finished detail & to update the exposed unattractive base, placing a round disk style base to cover would make the chair more appealing and new. Just a thought

Hi Lauren. By now you have registered the common theme in comments about why they aren't selling. I have watched you for ages, I've seen you go to crazy lengths to get the tiniest scratch out of something before you paint and it's always so worth it in the end so I am surprised that you don't feel the same way about these chairs.
You could have re-stained those legs while a chair was drying or replaced them with something new you have in storage. Also as many said, those edges with staples, my dear, what were you thinking?😮 😅
I understand your emphasis is on a “quick flip” with these chairs and you are “quick”, just not done yet. Why not spend another hr and do something with the bottoms, there are a myriad of quick fix solutions to fix that edge these days and you have the imagination to find them. One more thing, I don't know if it was your lighting or not but the white chairs, one especially, doesn't look clean, a bit blotchy, and that might be turning people off. I say this with the best intentions, to help you, because I adore you. 😅

Nailheads are very popular. Why not finish the edge of the white chairs with some. It now comes in rolls where you only have to hammer one in every so often. Would a wipe with some tinted Old English help the legs of the blue chair? You could show a picture in your ad for the blue chair showing the decking under the cushion covered in the same fabric as the rest of the chair. It is an expensive detail. Sadly, the white chairs still look dirty where people's heads have rested.

I hope that makes sense and helps a bit. I’ve sold on eBay and on consignment and pricing is definitely an art. Keep going and inspiring us all!

Both chairs need a bit of braided trim along the raw edge where the skirt was removed. It could be glued or stapled on. Touch up the wood legs on the blue chair with lemon oil. Your prices were a bit high. People expect to negotiate for a lower price. $100. To $150. for each chair would be reasonable and still make a profit. I like your videos. Very informative. Thanks.

Ripping skirts off without first checking to see how the fabric is stapled to the bottom was premature. If you had lifted up the skirt first you would have seen that the fabric was too short. Chairs that swivel and rock also have more structural elements underneath that people don’t want to look at in their homes. Maybe stick to chairs without these features and only remove the skirt if the fabric underneath was pulled underneath the chair.

Spending so little time to produce an end product that clearly (look at the comments!) seems shoddy just makes you seem greedy. “Flipping” is increasingly getting a bad rap, and it’s for reasons like this.

Shotty work and rushing to stage & post to sell!! I DONT THINK SO! Especially when you dont finish all those bottom edges to look neater, nicer. Are you not caring about the workmanship finished look on your items you post to sell?

These are not finished to the degree that they should command your high price. The blue one,,maybe $ 75. The light colored ones,,maybe $80.00 each. Those unfinished bottoms are a HUGH deduction on the price. Live and learn. ,thats all we can do.

Your prices are too high! The white ones have exposed staples and uneven fabric edges.

Sorry but these are a big no for me. You should check comps on brand new chairs and then price below that to account for the missing skirts and worn out cushions

Don’t like the look. Don’t want to see the unfinished look underneath.

So many keyboard cowboys and rude comments. Wondering if any of them would like to leave their successful TH-cam channels and warehouse addresses so we can start learning from them 😉 Have a great weekend!! And I like the chairs! Hope they sell for you all soon.

Why not take the lower offers you are getting from potential buyers? Then you could move onto something else. If they were higher quality pieces I could see you wanting to stay firm on the price, but these pieces have seen better days. Just a thought.

Why have there been so many negative comments on all creators TH-cam channels? I think those trolls need to try to do the flips or come up with content to film.

I wouldn't buy any of these chairs. Un finished bottoms. Ragged fabric. They are still in need of work.
