It's a glorious moment when you stumble on to Eugene Mumford footage that you haven't seen before. With a voice like his, he should've been a superstar. The man was/is an American treasure. Much thanks, Mr. Baptista.

I cry to know when I found out that Eugene Mumford died in 1977 at the young age of 43 just up the street from me in Los Angeles at Vermont Knolls care home . At that time I was 10 years old and if I was introduced to the Larks and Dominos material " My Reverie" " Stardust" " Stolen Love" ...ect , I would have been there singing to him everyday after school and let him know how much he was Loved !!!!

You simple do not hear perfect 4 part harmony like this anymore. Your father is directing this group with perfection. Today they use auto tune, fake instruments, and all kinds of sounds put to a beat and that's it. I am a Female Musician of over 50 years. I know good music when I hear it. I actually came to this website after this song stuck in my head after watching Goodfellas. I pulled the music and the video and now I have "Star Dust", among my many songs in my collection to play and sing whenever I want. Bless you. I hope you have musical talent as well as your offspring.

All were great😊 and went on for fabulous careers. Which singer was the greatest? This one is easy, but I'll be honest it's a four-way tie😊. As far as I know, Tony Williams & Platters never sang with Billy Ward, but sang on Federal Records, as did Jackie Wilson. Eugene Mumford sang lead for the Larks on Apollo Record's. Went to prison. Came out and restarted his career. I discovered him later on Columbia with a song called THIS I KNOW. About 1958 i have it in my collection of 45's. Not listed in price guide or American Records 1950 to 1975. You know who was the greatest of all---BILLY WARD!

My parents had this 45. I bet I listened to it 500 times, trying to mimic and study his vocal style and attack -- Eugene Mumford was one of the most influential singers on m as a kid, growing up 25 years after this recording. Still one of the most professional jobs of manhandling a song I've ever heard.

The released version of this is very moving, so good as an example of pop singing, thanks to Eugene Mumford, that nothing is better; but, Billy ward, an arse without class, in his keenness to make money and be someone and keep the real talent under control, is a disgrace here, mugging and overacting.
