- Barney the Boxer is just 6 months old and hasn’t had the best start to life, he has sadly gone through so much in such a short period of time.
Born with no tail and anal stricture, Barney was sadly bred by a backyard breeder with one parent who had medical issues and the other that was simply bought from a classifieds ad.
Poor Barney, wasn’t able to go to the toilet himself. A very serious problem, the breeder tried to empty Barney’s bowels himself and unfortunately further injured Barney internally.
Taken to the vet, the surgery was too much so the breeder surrendered Barney to Boxer Rescue Network Australia (BRNA).
BRNA without hesitation got Barney the surgery he needed, but sadly it didn’t work. They were given the choice for a second attempt but life long faecal incontinence or to be put to sleep.
BRNA had Barney in for his second surgery and he has recovered well. The only drawback is he has to wear Dundies inside. A tiny insignificant thing really, so that his life is saved. Thank you so much BRNA for saving Barney’s life.
Barney has been up for fostering with the view to adopt for a month or so now. He had over 150 applications but sadly none have worked out. Faecal incontinence can be a big responsibility, luckily here at the farm, poo, and lots of it everywhere everyday 🙈 … is our normal! 😅 So don’t you worry about that Barney. As time goes on, Barney is missing out on some important socialisation and puppyhood, as well as not yet having a home of his own.
So Barney has come to the farm to have some fun and simply concentrate on being a puppy and having a social life. Until now, Barney has been in and out of hospital and has had to keep a quiet life always recovering. When out and about he has been in a pram.
Barney arrived at the farm today. He’s already adopted farm life whole heartedly. Running with the pack, playing, finding the drain, coming in for a nap on the couch. And being loved of course.
Barney is a beautiful sweet boy who is soooo excited to be at the farm for a new chapter in his life. And we’re super excited to have him here.
For those wondering, we are fostering Barney but he sure has a place here at the farm for as long as he needs or would like. I think we know a few Boxers than can vouch for farm life being a reasonable way of life 😉

Barney is right where he needs to be, surrounded by loving humans and doggies alike. While I’m sad to hear about his incontinence, I believe in the power of love to heal all things. Getting good exercise, breathing fresh air, eating yummy food, all these things will contribute to his recovery - but I believe the love he will receive at the Farm will be the most healing of all. Thank you, Uncle Luke and Aunty Sam, for opening your hearts to Barney. I know he has the best chance of healing under your care. ❤️🐕

Gussie was Barney’s very first friend! They loved each other from the start.❤️ Though his time was tragically cut short, Barney lived his best life every day at the Farm.

My old boy Bob, had DM, so for his last 18mths, I had to express his bowels on a regular basis, DM stops them knowing that they need to go. It's manageable, in his last couple of months, he couldn't control his bladder, again just learnt to express his bladder every 4-6hrs. He slept on disposable & reusable pee pads. It's a bit of extra work, yet so worth it, that's what you do for the ones you love. Barney is in a great spot with you both ♥️♥️♥️

It was amazing to watch Barney fit right into the pack at home. Gus was such a sweetie with him. Luke and Sam are the best. What kind hearted children you are raising with the warmth and loving care you show these pups and dogs. We need more good people like you guys. Luke has found the perfect partner in Sam with the love that they show every dog no matter what.

Yes so important, but now politics decided to punish the unvaccinated healthy people. Instead of dealing with human and animal cruelty & trafficing.
Fortunately, New South Wales has a representative in Parliament for the Animal Justice Party. They are doing a marvelous job.
@@violimo we have something similar here in Germany. The trouble is not with serious breeders but with those cruel backyard breeders who only focus on profit. As long as stupid people are willing to pay less for a breed without checking the breeder‘s credentials we will see lots of suffering pets. All my Dobermans, Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest Cats are from serious breeders and I am blessed with wonderfully behaved and healthy fur babies.

@@violimo please don’t take my comment personally but Barney pup comes from NSW so not too sure what your sitting minister from Animal Welfare is actually doing……sadly I have nothing positive to say regarding any of these so called ‘animal welfare/humanity’ or alphabet agencies involved in ‘caring’ as NOTHING has changed regarding backyard breeding, home checks or anything really for that matter…..I could say more regarding these cruel agencies but I won’t.

This happens to older dogs sometimes too. I've always kept my dogs all the way to the end, incontinent or not. I think Barney will do wonders at the farm.
Thank you Luke and Sam for fostering Barney. It’s tough to hear what breeders do to poor dogs like Barney. He looks like he gets along with the dogs and very good natured with the kids. Bandit and Yo Yo will take him under their tutelage and he’ll have fun!

Oh my heart ❤️ my boxer boy Billy was a puppy farm reject at 8wks old . I thought I was taking him in just to live his final days - he was so poorly and tiny , I didn’t know if he would survive. He is now 10 yrs old and fills my heart with joy everyday ! Good luck Barney you lucky boy ❣️❤️❣️❤️🇬🇧
11:27 Sweet Freddo is so calm even while being stepped on during the Barney and Gus "love fest". Barney had a great first day, his loving disposition on full display and sooooo tired by evening. Where most see limitations, you see possibilities. The compassion for the dogs is truly heart warming and your have certainly passed that caring and compassion down to your girls. Very sweet to see them being so loving to Barney. Looks like Barney found a friend in Gus on his first day.

I need to say, Luke and Sam and all, what you are doing is INCREDIBLE. My daughter adopted an Italian greyhound with that exact same issue, from the same kind of background. She was told if he wasn’t rehomed immediately, he would be put down the next day. My daughter then spent the next 8 years with Geoffrey, changing diapers and dealing with his diva personality, giving him the best him he could want!
You are all just the most amazing people. I'd pray for Barney but he's already in heaven!
