      I know someone in Sydney, who does not even bother to visit Kuala Lumpur when he comes to Malaysia, because his reply is " It's just another asian city".

    Condos in Malaysia are the best in Southeast Asia, they are cheap with very luxurious facilities. If you do research, there are other cheaper ones with the same facilities

      Absolutely agree & thanks for pointing this out. There are definitely other fantastic options at half this price point or less, just a bit further out from the city centre. Thanks for the comment!

      I do live here under MM2H and he is paying for the location. I have a 3 bedroom, 1,600 sqft flat with balcony and paying 2850 RM/ month near MidValley Megamall. Depends on where you want to be but his view his fantastic. By the way, does he mean 700 USD or 700 AUSSIE dollars? That would make a big difference.

    I admire your motivation to uproot from home and go seek new surroundings while still earning a living. KL is going to be a must see place for me before too long, but not has a place for location independent working. I'm about 5-ish years away from retirement and I'm patiently waiting to see what the Malaysian government will do regarding the MM2H program that is currently under review. Fingers crossed they structure something that is similar to the pre-covid MM2H program (which was very popular). With more realistic requirements, my pension will be more than enough to live comfortably in KL. Cheers. ☺

      Malaysia welcomes affluent individuals and families, not the mediocre or even the very high net worth ones. That's why the requirement is monthly offshore, onshore income of US$9,000 a month including minimum liquid assets of ~US$300,000. It's not that high really, for those who want to base out of South East Asia.

    • @jfk5402
      @jfk5402 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do agree Malaysia is absolutely a good place to retire. But I wouldn't get my hopes too high that they will dial back the requirements dramatically to match what was before. They may just make small tweaks such as lowering monthly income to perhaps $7-8K from the current $9-10K. The goal of the program is not to provide retirement places for the global masses but to attract affluent individuals/families who can help Malaysian economy. Personally I think the low requirement days are over.

      Doesn't seem too bad. I'm assuming retirees would just have to show that that's their investment interest + pensions/social security@@leealex24

    Am guessing Aria (et al.) will be going up in price after the news gets out and demand goes up.
    Wondering what you think re: the MM2H rules that just came out recently requiring 1 Million Ringgits bank deposit (from foreigners looking to live/move to Malaysia) ? ($215K USD)

    • @JackAlderton
      @JackAlderton  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Appreciate your comment and kind words - thank you for the feedback! Yes, it does look that way, it's probably up on when I signed the lease so this is something to keep in mind.
      As for the MM2H, I can't say I quite understand the logic. Attracting foreign capital and inflows is beneficial and I think increasing the requirements significantly makes it a much less feasible option, especially compared to other surrounding countries. Hard for me to say though, I'd trust they changed the requirements for a reason/there is at least some data/modelling to back up the logic.

      @JackAlderton  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi Jason, yes it's a good idea for a video. Primarily you'll want to secure an employment pass to stay semi-permantently, otherwise you'll be stuck with 3 month tourist visas with border crossings. If you have a lot of money, the process for MM2H would be much more straightforward and flexible. Hope that helps!

    That looks like a really great place!
    In another TH-camr's video tour of a different complex, he showed the gym, and said it's fairly warm (ie: uncomfortable). How's the temperature in Aria's gym?
    Also, I work from home, but I require hard-wired internet. Not just wifi. Is that a possibility in Aria, to have a router/modem?

    • @JackAlderton
      @JackAlderton  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Gabriel! The gym is cool enough (aircon). I usually jump right in the pool after either way.
      For the internet, yes you can wire it to the router but might need to run a long cable depending on where they set it up. In mine it's by the main TV, so if you worked in the study area it would be about 10 meters. Hope this helps!

      Sorry but your friend and her family sound like they are the boring ones. Australia has probably the most diverse natural landmass in the world, not to mention holding multiple of the top 'liveable' cities (as much as I disagree with that term) - it literally has everything that every other country has so i'm not sure how anyone could be bored, unless they stay in their room all day. The major cities are very expensive, yes that is definitely true and a con for living there, as for other western major cities.

They had their door open all the time but I couldn't hear them unless I also opened my door.Only minor concern might be the pool - it's fairly open and neighbouring buildings can see.
      There's no dedicated housecleaning, but it's super easy to find good cleaners in KL.

I heard people say that before, saying it is dead quiet, but when I try myself, there is still a lot of sound, so others are probably better at ignoring it. Please let me know, as I have been on a long search to find a really quiet place to live.

    Cool video jack. Can you offer any advise for how to get into an apartment like this? We're a Kiwi/Aussie couple with the 3 month tourist visa. We looked at renting an apartment but there were so many fees associated with that. When we come back from Bali in a months time we'll have a look at SpeedHome, for a 3 month lease, but not sure what their requirements are. How have you done it?

    • @JackAlderton
      @JackAlderton  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks Michelle! Sure, so typically you sign a one year lease agreement with 2.5 months put down as a bond + as well as a signing fee if you go through an agent. There are also known issues with getting the bond back. SpeedHome would probably be the best option for you as you avoid the bond and other fees and should have no issues with a 3 month stay. By the looks of it, SpeedHome charges about 50% more than what the 1-year rental rate would be to compensate for the added flexibility. You might also be able to get a good deal on AirBnB for a stay of this length. Good luck and hope this helps!

      I work nearby so it was easy for me to walk to office. Grab (similar with Uber) is easy to get around in KL if you are not after public transport. Jalan Alor is walkable from Bukit Bintang MRT station.
      Assuming you are holding Malaysian passport, you can stay as long as you want. Otherwise you should be able to get a 3 month visa on arrival no worries.
      Generally the rental lease here is minimum 1 year but you can discuss your need with a rental property agent and they should help you with it. Otherwise, Airbnb is definitely the easiest or websites like Speedrent/Trovit is good for short term rental too.

    Is it true that aria has a lot of airbnb?

      It's against the by-laws, so in theory it shouldn't have any. In the last few months it seems there is an uptick, but in general definitely not. It is very private - hope this helps!

    Stonor @ Tun Razak isnt really ideal location wise. 10mn down TR you can get a 3br place for less money and have better access to local food and parks.
    Additionally, to get this place at Aria for 700 per month surely you've had to sign a year lease, yeah?

      Hey Alexandor, thanks for your comment. Obviously location is subjective but for me and those I work with it's the best place. We can walk 5 mins to the office, it's right next to KLCC park and you can walk to 2/3 of the best malls in KL. The MRT station just opened right nearby too, which I didn't mention in this video (public transport access is essential in KL IMO). If you're on a budget yes there are absolutely great options at lower price points and with more space. Yes, if you want to rent a place at a competitive price you'll need to sign a one year lease.
