I’ve got the blue Jaguar on order, as I’m not a huge fan of gold. There’s been a Jaguar-shaped hole in my collection for a long time, and I slept too long on the purple one…but it worked out because blue sparkle is even better.
My wife has a silver sparkle CV Jag with matching headstock from a prior FSR. We put a purple pearloid pickguard on it. It looks amazing and after I had given it some tlc with a nice set up and a neck shim, it plays so good it’s genuinely amazing. I am a Reverend fan and primarily seek those out when I’m looking for a new guitar, but if you want something great on a budget, you the Squier CV stuff really can be top notch.
I can attest to what a lovely guy Andy is in real life was great to meet you & Paul! Good times and gonna give a shout out to Nacho Paul 😇 his music is great 👍🏼. Much love Andy thanks for showing me Denmark Street ❤
I’m still new to guitars, but I adore these videos, I almost love watching videos about guitars and people playing them than I do playing…although as I get better, I expect that to change…I love the videos though, thanks!
Squire's Classic Vibe series is just killing it! I LOVE the new Squire Classic Vibe 60s Telecaster I got in Sherwood Green with the matching head stock last week and it has fast become my favorite guitar! You need to get an ashtray bridge cover to really complete that classic look! I think I'm going to have to get one of those Blue Sparkle 70's CV Jaguars, though, as I don't own a Jaguar and if it's half as good as the Tele, I'll be super happy with it! Matching headstock and the tortoise shell pickguard - yes, please!
Thanks for bringing back the chapter markers. I dig WiG and your insightful & wry commentary, but don't always have time for the whole thing. The chapter markers probably increase my engagement.
I'd have to go with the sparkly blue finish, over the sparkly gold. While both are gorgeous, the blue one reminds of the very first guitar I used to covet when I was a tween (very early 80's). There it hung, all sparkly and blue, with only a $100 price tag...way out of reach for a tween, but one day...oh, yes, one day. (The music store was in a mall and folded before I even became a full teen...my first guitar, courtesy of my wonderful dad, was a sun-burst Peavey T-25.)
I have to say the Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar in blue sparkle looks quite tasty. Great show!! I do hope Brian May Guitars will keep making their version of the Red Special. Those are at least within the realm of affordability. I used to work in a pawn shop and was able to get the white/tortoise shell BMS guitar and loved it but had to sell it for medical reasons. I would love to have another one. Gibson is probably going to price theirs at unobtanium prices.
I'm always getting some serious 'Andy's Dinosaur Adventures' vibes here 😄, which is a good thing! Expecting Andy to jump in his time machine to save his museum conservator buddy just in time for the exhibition. For the Squier Jaguar I also keep hopping from one to the other. They're both very nice. Cheers
I am all here for the idea of "pedal amps". While we all love amps, the sheer convenience is going to result in, I think, people using these pedal amps more and more, especially since the technology has reached the level where it sounds as good as quality amps sound (if you dial in the settings properly). Also, the Unubutanium Raw seems awesome. I just don't know that I could justify owning one at this time. It's super easy to be the "I HAVE 500" overdrives, if you're not careful (and have a bottomless wallet). And I'm not sure I can justify that. 🤣
I look forward to this week in gear! (Every week it seems) I didn’t notice the usual smirk, and chuckle when calling out Hugh G. Rection’s name. It’s something I look forward to, please add it back in! Like when someone says do do. I had a thought about so many pedals being audio interfaces. What if four people showed up to record something using them. Any latency issues or otherwise from having four separate interfaces? Do you ever long after ‘regular’ guitars? The quirky ones seem to catch your eye.
Looks like the U.S. is only getting the Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar in Blue Sparkle (exclusive to CME it looks like). At least, from what I can find so far. Kind of like how last year or the year prior, Europe got the Silver Sparkle and Charcoal Frost Metallic Jaguars and then the U.S. only wound up getting the Silver Sparkle (which was unfortunate -- I really wanted the Charcoal Frost Metallic).
Check this out, Harley Benton BM-75 Trans Red Deluxe Series from Thomann, £255 if you have doubts about the sound then watch Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - Electric Guitar Cover by Kfir Ochaion ...
Nice…if I didn’t already own a couple of Jags, I might be all over that Squier. On a separate note…here’s hoping that the Gibson lifestyle & furniture company doesn’t completely screw up the Red Special and Brian May Guitars.
Probably not the right place to ask.... how much salt and vinegar to a quart jar....to make homemade salt and vinegar pickles.... using the small white cucumbers?
I worked just off Eastcastle Street in London years ago and what is now the Gibson Garage was the shop/office of Gibson Brands at the time. The interior doesn't appear to have changed much. It feels like kind of of a re-launch than something totally new. So, Taylor Guitars are making another attempt at the electric market with Powers Electric. I thought that the Taylor Classic electric solid body series from ten or fifteen years ago were good instruments, but they faded away. Maybe people associated the name too much with acoustics? A sub-brand with a different name avoids this. I expect that Powers Electric are good, but it must be a tough time for a new, more premium brand, to enter the market.
It’s a nice little new amp from Laney but the price point (~500 euro) is too high. You can for instance buy the Laney IRT studio for about the same price which is a 3 channel full tube amp ;)
Dude, get the Jaguar. I’ve played some actual Fenders in the past cuz my buddy was a Nirvana geek. Personally I like Jazzmasters but the Jags are no slouch. 🤘🏻 rock on dude!
Squier CV are serious guitars, not just for the money. Laney Super Cub 10 has my attention 🤠 BTW a green Jaguar would be very nice and worth my notes 😎
The gold jag would be my choice because it you got an exceptionally light colored finger board it would look better with the gold than the blue in my opinion.
I've stopped buying Squier CV. Last month I bought a Fender Player Jazz bass for £469, and a Player Strat and Tele for £529 each - all like new "ex-display" showroom models. Ex-Display Squires don't seem to have the same big discounts,
Sparkley Blue or Sparkley Gold? YES! Something we should all learn from Know Your Gear: If the question is, "Should I buy a guitar?" the answer is ALWAYS, "YES!"
My guess is that Gibson’s deal will be like Fender’s marketing and distribution deal with Gretsch. One thing you can be sure of, prices will be ridiculously expensive🤣.
Gibson: Brian, would you like to collab with us to remake your famous guitar? Brian May: Uhhm. I already have my own guitar brand. Gibson: We'll give you a sh!t load of money. Brian May: Ok.
I've had nothing but bad luck with Squiers from Indonesia. I've tried three, and every single one needed major work out of the box to even be playable... necks reset, nuts re-cut, parts realigned. Two 40th Anniversary Gold Jazzmasters and an FSR Classic Vibe '70s Jazzmaster. I only kept the last one, because they were clearing unwanted new stock at %40 off, which made the need for significant tech work (also covered by the store) less of a pill.
Why do I support Andy on Patreon? Because I love how he reads out my name at the end of each episode works out to be the cost of a cup of coffee per episode, so worth it. All the best Andy - Boom Shock Allocca
I would immediately paint over that gold shimmer guitar. Not bc I don't like it... It just makes a great base coat. Like they did with custom muscle cars and vans in the 70's. Metal flake base and a clear coat. So much depth. I would spray red translucent and it would look deep red or sunset orange depending on how the light hits it. Pinstripes optional. Hell. Throw a screaming chicken on there if you got the mustache and the machismo for it 😂
My amateur legal opinion is that Gibson would have a hard time acquiring the trade mark to that shape UNLESS that TM already exists (in legal form) and is purchased by Gibson. But establishing a trade mark on a widely used shape would likely not survive challenge. Same reason Fender can't get their shapes back after previously not defending their marks from copy cats.
Sir Dr. Brian May teaming up with Gibson? I`ve kept visiting his Brainmayguitars homepage for years, hoping the BGM super would be available to oder or on a waiting list again. Now my hopes of getting one without having to sell someones kidney fade away... I hope Gibson does not confuse his iconic guitar with a Les Paul special if they are the ones to replicate it.
The Red Special has Burns' pickups and was made out of an old (wardrobe?)....very Gibson (very expensive as well). No chance of Gibson owning the shape, there's been too many copies since without enforcement. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Those Powers A type guitars remind me of those Jackson Dominions. Those play sort of like a 335 meets an Explorer. Really cool guitar
For the Jaguar: Go Vegas, go gold.

Wonderful as always.

I love squiers and I really dig that you review them and let us know what's up with the brand.
I love the Squier Classic Vibe strats and teles !!!!
I am unbelievably excited for the Silver Sparkle CV VI in August.

The Powers guitars look simply amazing! 😎 I can't afford one - but I was surprised that they don't cost more.
I'd love the blue Squier, but would swap the pick guard for a white one, like the gold sparkle. I'd love the gold sparkle too though 😂

You guys are lucky, so far none of the American/U.S. carriers have the gold sparkle jaguar, only place I've found that ships to the U.S. is thomann.
I love blue but that gold sparkle would be my choice.

@theguitargeek or anyone else….. what’s the funky offset guitar with p90s over his left shoulder?

Not really digging the "fishing boat" sparkle finishes on the FSR Jags. A burst or two would be nice Fender/Squier!
well squire i would buy the squier jag in gold!

MY WEEK IS FINALLY COMPLETED BY THE WEEK IN GEAR!🎉🎉🎉
Awwww yeah!
Blue Jaguar!
Goooooold!!!!
Blue!
Those Jags look nice but that trem is a no go. Should have used the Toronado bridge or Strat HT and charged less.
