9:38 the issue with ddarrio straps is that if your not careful? the hard plastic adjustment thing will ding your guitar. 12:20 nice. I haven’t owned a maple neck guitar since my Roland Strat synth guitar in the 1980s. I might have to try one but will probably gravitate to the rosewood fretboard version
Love your videos! And I love me some Tedeschi. I really love seeing her Tele with all the signatures on it... I think though that the whole signature thing is a bit overdone sometimes. As you mention with the quality as compared to price. 5:18 But hey - if you love the color, get the Squier CV in the exact same colors and swap the pickups and neck with the 90s Tele you share own. Just sayin
The NF3 is going to be a Strat replacement for me. I currently have two Strats and am planning on parting with the SSS. The metallic finish, the NF pickups... beautiful and versatile. Plus the PRS trem knocks a regular Strat trem out of the ring! ❤
The distance of the narrow-field pickup magnets matches the fretboard radius for a more balanced tone...but they couldn't be bothered to make the pole piece pitch different between the three pickups, judging by the closeup of the orange guitar, so on neck pickup, the outer strings sit pretty much at the edges of the main pole pieces ;) (I mean I don't think it matters much, but you know, if you're doing something that seems detail-oriented, it's kinda funny to also completely ignore related details.)
"I got this one. This is the red one." I look over at my strat to make sure Andy didn't steal mine. Adding a swivel to that strap is a great idea. A simple tweak to a already very good product.
Cool stuff Andy! Appreciate the news. Looking into a white one of those PRS NF3 models. Seems pretty sweet and would probably sound cool with some Intervals style riffing! Be well bud 💯 ✌🏼
I need that strap. I came up with that design years in my head to solve the SG and other guitars with a center strap button issue. I'm glad to see It got made.
I wonder if PRS tried to arrange the narrow field pickups in the slanted single coil style. Thanks for my weekly dose of english quirkiness! This parrot is no more.....
My spastic cerebral palsy requires me to buy with careful consideration of the specs and apparent construction for neck pitch (i.e. neck angle), scale length, nut width, neck profile, and weight in that order. I typically only get colors I like with Warmoth partsocasters, which typically involves buying the body in a different year than the neck for financial reasons.
I have issues with my left hand...its been broken 3 times, and my wrist and thumb had separate fractures and problems independently of that as well. Im a tech. And one day im gonna find an economical way to take a mold/casting of an individual's hand and shape a neck to fill it perfectly and comfortably for that person. It can't be that hard or expensive.
Yes that new strap! I had one of the older locking swivel straps but it deconstructed itself... And the newer locking none swivel works awful with my Steinberger guitar (ironic as the strap is designed by the man himself) but this new one should be perfect 😁
The cost of the fender telecaster, I WOULD DEFINITELY GET A G&L FULLERTON ASAT CLASSIC 🎸. G&L is much better built than fender and it's a telecaster on steroids ‼️
My main live guitar has a strap button on the back of the body so for a second i thought that sounded cool. But I immediately realized that what I've always done: looping through the "front" of the strap on that button is actually a lot more stable than something that swivels would be. Actually not really sure what the benefit of that product is.
Because this one locks. Looping through the front of any strap is an option (if I correctly understand what you wrote). The swivel one allows you to lock the strap on any guitar
I used to hold PRS in high respect for not being yet another producer of generic Strats, Teles, and Gibson types, regardless of the quality of their original models. And here we are.
I feel you and when the Silver Sky came out I was not interested. Too many amazing Strat style out there already and why pay 3x the price for one that has good classic tone... But the SE version is pretty solid and definitely would be my choice over a good MIM if I didn't already have 3 Fender Strats of one origin or another.
It's infuriating that it's just a strat with cutout for better high fret access which you could ask a luthier for less than $100 including repaints. And if i remember correctly fender's cory wong signature also does exactly that but without the ugly cutout.
PRS brought out a stratish guitar with unique pickups and a lovely finish which is not a short run for Mexican Fender money; why not complain to Fender, which does neither? Personally, my interest in PRS is waning rapidly because they seem vehemently opposed to making affordable guitars with Pattern Regular necks (In the SE line, one's only choices are: "Silver Sky or DGT?" and color.).
Andy, why did you put blue tape over the Gibson logo on your SG? And I really want one of those PRS guitars, I want the blue one with a maple fingerboard. Not the fingerbird?
Ironically, my D’addario auto-lock strap is configured in the SG arrangement. I thought it was a manufacturing mistake since I don’t have any guitars with the strap button in the SG position. So it ends up twisted for me on all my guitars. Now I know why it was done that way.
An orange NF3 would be on its way to me except… I’d promised myself that my second PRS would be a hardtail. I’d promised myself that my next Straty guitar would be a G&L Comanche. And I already spent my guitar budget for this year. Maybe 2027…but I’ll probably be distracted by something else by then. 😄
The Comanche is an excellent choice! Have you considered modding it with a Free Way 5B5-01 ten-way blade switch? If you get a Tribute model with a push/pull pot or the US model's mini toggle is DPDT, then you could use that additional switch to change what Position 6 does (Scheme No B002 default and switching to Scheme No B004, both found in the "5B5-01 3PU 2Pot Part1" PDF) for four additional tonal options beyond the stock seven; I can provide a description of how to wire said switch if you like. My only PRS is an SE DGT, thanks to its neck, and I hope to afford an S2 Vela Semi-Hollow in Scarlet Sunburst (might have to buy an Antique White Satin to save money) before its current spec is discontinued.
I don't see the problem with a 'normal' strap with SG-style strap buttons. The strap goes on the butt button, as normal, and the strap goes on the body button (with lock gizmo) but with the TOP of the strap facing the guitar. Of course that means I have a dedicated strap for my SG...but then, I have straps for all of my guitars... Ok, I see the problem now...
Having both the NF3 and Silver Sky you need to know they’re way different. Bridge is totally different, same with neck profile. Pickups are way different. Sounds way different too.
I think you meant 'If you show me a guitar player who says they don't shop with their eyes, I'll show you a blind guitar player.' as I spotted your deliberate mistake Andy, I claim my £5 note prize! 😉😁

That Tedeschi Tele is just a stock Tele. She said that the one she plays is stock, and she's never modified it. Now, Fender is saying there's special pickups and a special neck, just to charge way more for a regular off the rack Tele. These companies are like any other business. Greedy! They know people are willing to buy this because they're into her and the band. Edit: Why do you have the Gibson logo covered up on your SG lol? Is it a Chibson or something?
All the tongue twisters you could hope for in one single episode, lol… some shades of green just don’t do it for me, lol as it should be. So ya that. @@TheGuitarGeek I think you were mostly in a peak of lust for the pretty thing, for this they will forgive you. Did make me think it would be great to have a blind friend to take along to try out instruments with though
The new PRS SE NF3 is nice but too expensive for a guitar made of poplar wood. Poplar wood is inexpensive so why is this guitar so expensive? Another PRS I can't afford. To me it's just not worth $800. There are to many other budget friendly guitars made with alder or mahogany that I think are better. I think because of the PRS name brand maybe $500 would be the top price I would be willing to pay for it.

That green color DOMINATED the 90s in America. Cars, Trucks, guitars...couldn't look any direction without seeing it 😂
Guitar pedals are like adult films: there's enough to keep us satisfied for a thousand years but people are still excited about new releases ;)
Lots of them do the same thing but we are excited by some "creators"
I stopped getting pedals almost a year ago and it's crazy how much tighter my playing is now.

Yay for the lefties!!!!!! Bought a lefty Gretsch Electromatic last year.
Get some dashboard non slip mesh mats, cut a small section and either use good fabric glue or sew it to the strap, it'll never slip again.
The PRS in metallic orange looks great... I have to try it...

The NF3 is an interesting model to bring back as an SE, although admittedly it does look much better than the original USA model.
I would buy one if it had a Pattern Regular neck.
