Just found this video and your channel 💓💓, I’m starting my Midwifery course in April 2021 and I’m excited. When it comes to work all of my family are business and finance people so I was worried for the pay but this has helped me xx
Glad its been helpful for you - it was one of the things I really struggled finding detailed information on when I was training so I wanted to make sure I laid it out really openly for other people in the same boat! Good luck for your training! xx
Tamsin Dark I’ve got a whole video planned on this as I’ve had a lot of questions about the bands and how the career progression works so I’ll explain more on that in the next couple of weeks - Make sure you subscribe and it’ll be out in the next few week! Glad the video helped! Are you starting your training, or planning for the future, or just generally interested? 😊 x
Great video very informative! :) just wondering if you know is the system the same for nursing as I’m looking into going into child nursing ie starting at band 5 and being able to move up?
Hi, Not able to share which hospital I work at for confidentiality reasons but the 3 shifts thing I would say is pretty standard across different hospitals. Hope that helps xx
Hi ! I haven't finished watching your video yet. When my son sleeps , I can continue watching. However I just want to leave important question if u dont mind. Is it possible for a working midwife to study doctor of medicine at the same time? Studying while working. Thank you!
Not at all; you can request them if you'd like to work them, but enough people want to stay home at the weekends as much as possible that they don't tend to be fought over at all! :-) xx
Aaliyah Hussain yeah, unfortunately we do. We get a reduced rate, which varies from each hospital but where I work it works out about £35 a month for 37.5 hours a week parked at work. X
I read on Google midwifery is free for a postgraduate degree which is all you need to become one. You get a bursary aswell which differs from £1000 - 5000 I'm so confused. Could you answer if these are true?, 😅
At least in the U.K., you definitely need a full undergraduate degree, unless you already have a nursing degree, in which case you can do an 18 month shorter course, but you wouldn’t be able to become a midwife from just a postgraduate course. Funding wise, they have pulled the NHS training bursary but you can get contributions and student loans - it has changed a lot since I did it so I’m not sure what exactly is in place now - you’d need to search online for that information. Hope that helps x
@@RosieAGirlOnAJourney thank you. So how many years and what qualifications would you need? 😊 I know these questions are back to back so i apologise, just eager to learn 😂😅
Most extra *_* it would be a 3 year degree course for an undergraduate degree in Midwifery. I actually have a video coming out on this on Thursday so I’d suggest watching that for all the information 😊 X
I’ve just replied to your other comment but I would suggest discussing this with a career advisor at college and researching on the websites of the unis you want to apply to so you know their requirements 😊 good luck! Xx
So glad I’ve found your channel!! Coming from a aspiring midwife! Would recommend every student to watch & Sub X

Hi I love your videos! I was wondering which hospital you work at and how common the three shifts a week are across different hospitals?

Omg nhs staff have to pay for hospital parking💀💀💀

Hi I have a question to ask how many days can a part time midwife work covering 37.5 hours
Thankyou
You would have to discuss this with your employer; everyone has different rules and circumstances 😊 xx
@@RosieAGirlOnAJourney thank you so much for your quick reply. Will the employers be fair in taking account you have family commitments too x
@@asimabibi7833 they should be, but again each employer is different so it’s hard for me to answer fully, sorry! Xx
