Rosie - A Girl On A Journey Hi Rosie, I’m halfway through my access to midwifery course and will be finished in June next year. I will be applying for uni to do midwifery to start next September as a very mature student (43). Eek - can’t believe I’m writing that! I graduated from my first degree (Performing Arts-Drama) in 2000! Last year I binge read the midwifery posts on your blog - really insightful :)
Kathi Kelly so many people seem to go into this career from an arts background, it is so much more common than I thought it would be! 😊 Glad you found the blog useful - I’m so glad I kept it up for the whole three years - it’s lovely to look back on too! Good on you for grasping the change in direction with both hands - so many of those who are training are mature students, so don’t give it a second thought - your life experience will only help you be a better midwife! 🥰 X
Both are quite visual but it depends on the type visuals you are after - I have myles because the images appeared clearer to me but others prefer Mayes for the same reason - I’d try to compare both in a uni library or something before buying one or the other. Xx
I’m in my early 30s now, was in my mid-late 20s when I was training but my age shouldn’t change anything; lots of people train at much later stages in their lives.
Thank you so much for answering me ..well i have worked three years until now and im still 😀 i had my five years studying midwife 🤗 and the systeme of shift is quite different i work 24 hours and reset four days . But know it became three days and it so harde
I found this really helpful, thanks Rosie! It’s good to know what really is essential :)
Glad it helped! Are you starting your training soon? Or planning for the future? 😊 x
