Same! Remember seeing this video and getting Geneva shortly after. Having that and Station on repeat when travelling to my girlfriend when we had just met being amazed that music could be this. It's now been almost 16 years and were married :) Seen them live 4 times as well during the years, thinking about doing it again during fall.
This is the kind of song that starts with the guitarist playing a random riff at rehearsal, the drummer joins in, followed by the bass player, and boom, a new tune is born.
This song is an absolute fucking masterpiece, and the filming could not have been done better for its time. I managed to see RC a few times in my 20’s, and this is one band I’m so happy I was privileged to actually experience live. I’m 31 now, and this song literally never fails to send shivers down my spine. This is proper fucking art.
i love this band. they are everything i want my band to be. i love their individual playing styles. i love their equipment. i love their tone. i love the guitarists two handed tapping technique. I LOVE THE RUSSIAN CIRCLES.
Thank you so much for the upload ! Such a geat band ! I've just bought their albums and they are awesome . Support these artists , they really deserve it !
I was at this show - it was awesome. First / only time I saw Russian Circles live... I think I listened to their music only for almost a month straight after the show. Their drummer is just insanely amazing.
One of my fav RC tunes. Was lucky enough to be there from the start and saw them at the Cooler in Bristol UK in 2007. Talked to the drummer after the show, top guy as well as an awesome drummer :)
i'm old...like, born in the 60's... n this is the most exciting drummin n band i've discovered in a long long time... this is a couple of yrs old, any newer stuff around? i checked out alot of other versions of this song n others, so far this one has the best sound, specially for the drums... gotta see them live someday
i seriously need to see them again. i saw them open for coheed and cambria at viejas but i had no idea who was opening that night, let alone had i heard of russian circles, so i got there late. they were fantastic, so i'd love to see them again now that i know their music.
Just saw Russian Circles at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, CO. This song was EPIC. Well...the entire set was epic. Dave Turncrantz is such a beast.....
You know when you really love a band and you just get very happy whenever you find new videos of them? anyway was cool to see Mike with what it seems to be a Double cut-away les paul? is awesome cos i have a Black Double cut Les paul and someday a custom LP black beauty will join the Mad house
5:25 I was headbanging. This is the first time I've listened to this band, do want more.. Amazing stuff. Thaiblacky is correct, they don't need vocals.. The music speaks for itself.
Huh funny, this must've been recorded before they recorded Station since Brian played the bass on that album. Colin is still absolutely killing it in this performance!
fucking good drummer!!! very 70's style playing. his technique and feel and originality are just completely awesome! im amazed. makes you realize how good drummers can play such awesome stuff on very basic kit set ups
good lord, turncrantz destroys on this song... thanks for the vid. they usually play surrounded by darkness and fog. it's nice to actually be able to see what he's doing for once.
Normally, people in the audience bother me but the "SOOO GOOD!!" at 2:01 is awesome.
these guys should be at the forefront of music right now. they are so underappreciated bands like this make me proud to be from chicago
Damn, the drumming is really tight here
Can't believe it's been almost 12 years since I discovered russian circles through this very video. Damn..
Same

Fabiayyi The great Dave Turncrantz
the best drummer they had. the rest hit cimbals way too much
@@conceptualelegance Lol, what? It's the only drummer they've ever had.
He really is. Self taught if I’m remembering correctly.
also the GUITARIST
That is seriously one of the best drum beats I have ever heard. Just keeps chuggin and building up.
one of the most badass drummers in the world
My friend and I were standing right in front of the guitarist at Wicker Park fest; we had never seen them before but we thought they were amazing.
This will never get old.
This is the kind of song that starts with the guitarist playing a random riff at rehearsal, the drummer joins in, followed by the bass player, and boom, a new tune is born.
Whoever mic'd that drum kit... did a damn good job! Clear, but now too loud to hear guitar and bass. Beautiful performance.
This is Colin, the original bass player, not the guy from Botch. Both are awesome, so it shouldn't be an issue.
Yeah they're both awesome. Love the P Bass in this vid.
damn I can't believe this video is 8+ years old, I am still blown away every time I watch it
Chris Mitchell 12 I should say and keeps up lol
@@dordoriani the fact it sounds this good blew me away (first ive seen this band also)
16 now and it keeps kicking asses severely.

This song is an absolute fucking masterpiece, and the filming could not have been done better for its time.

Great drumming and fantastic band.
i want long flowing hair

With the possible exception of Stewart Copeland, this drummer has the highest talent to equipment ratio for a drummer that I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
Dave is such an amazing drummer. I couldnt believe it when i found out he uses all the same size cymbals
his drumming just blew my mind ! super !

You can tell by the number of heads banging at 2:48 to know the audience was hooked at that moment
Absolutely Amazing
Huh funny, this must've been recorded before they recorded Station since Brian played the bass on that album. Colin is still absolutely killing it in this performance!
It's incredible what only three people are able to create in music.
I saw these guys with Chelsea Wolfe last august. Best show I have ever been to
I'm suffering from Russian Circles show withdrawal... I NEED to see them live again!

@TOOLbottomfeeder7001 I love Russian Circles, but DADGAD tuning isn't Mike's "own concoction". It's been around since at least the 60s.
good lord, turncrantz destroys on this song...
thanks for the vid. they usually play surrounded by darkness and fog. it's nice to actually be able to see what he's doing for once.
Only the bangers are into this songs. They feels it. No doubt.
