Fun story: I happened to be there at Chicago Music Exchange when they recorded this. It was April 23, 2018 and I was in the acoustic room checking out a vintage Martin when I heard this monstrous sound coming from the adjacent room where this was performed and filmed. I was blown away by the heavy swirling moodiness which reminded me of some of my favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees music from mid 80s to early 90s. Three months later when this video was posted I recognized this music from the 21 second clip I'd recorded on my phone and I've been a fan of this incredible band ever since. The whole Guidance album is outstanding. It's amazing how things come to you.
You lucky fella, I bet it was epic!
@@TheMorganOrgan It was a unique way to be introduced to a band for the first time
There’s a special place in heaven for pedal tap dancers
themodularmodular 😂
this band and Autolux got me into shoegaze and doom respectively
That would be funny if their drummer Dave came in holding his bass drum pedal and was like, "Yeah.. I just use one pedal for this song.."
but does he use a double pedal?
@@sprainedchakra8417 nope
Don't forget the Hi hats. Dave is fantastically talented with cymbals!
his technic can't transcribed in words !!
Their pedalboards are instruments in themselves. These guys are so creative. Its very inspiring
Playing pedals like that takes much more focus than I'm capable of. Extremely impressive.
:18 SECONDS IN AND ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS THAT BEAUTIFUL DUNABLE
This was fantastic. Two of my favorite things: loaded pedalboards and musicians taking you through a song piece by piece. 🤘
Performance starts at 7:49. . . . .great success, thanks for this!!
mixer is a guitarist.
The way he uses the bass almost like a violin is crazy
god anyone else want them to write a movie score?
YES!
I've always felt like these guys mixed Philip Glass and Mastodon.... I love it all.
Wow, Brian's My Pal Foot Foot shirt made my day! I didn't know something so great existed
This is on some other levels man, I’ve never seen musicianship like this
Glad you guys played this on your Spring tour. Can't wait for the new stuff!
These guys are brilliant. I discovered them a while back and can;t stop listening to their work. For me their music have definitely reached the Tool status.
These guys never cease to inspire. Thank you CME for doing this.
I feel like it took many hours and a lot of heart to create this masterpiece. So much passion...
I love this song.....no dang idea what it took to make it. Damn boys....that is amazing!
Been waiting for this episode ever since they posted the pic of them there on instagram!!
I’ve never geeked out on something harder.
I got to see these guys live and it was amazing.
Such an amazing song and incredible use of the effects seriously no wonder I couldn’t figure out how to play the song at all 😂 really awesome you guys do such an in-depth look at how you do create the music thanks again and keep rocking i truly enjoy your tunes 🏆
Did I just watch a episode of "that pedal show"? Awesome vid!!
WOW....cannot even comprehend all the button switching
Yessss these guys are my fav
Awesome! currently some of my favorite musicians.
More of these! I'm hooked now!
they are absolutely genius and I have no idea how they do it
they just spent 14 minutes showing you how they do it lol
bapee105 they show you how to do this but they can’t show you how to do “IT” ya know
bapee105 Hahaha
I get what you're saying. They are just showing you the demo to their pedals, they don't go to the meats and tell you why, how, they ended up with those patterns. Also how they are they dial. Etc. Etc.
@@peepeepoopookaka yes haha, and still we dont comprehend
literally the first time i have ever seen Brian laugh, let a lone smile.
Focken amazing!
This was just pure badass
Always enjoy Russian Circles, but man seeing Brian always makes me miss These Arms are Snakes soooo much. Music has a gap that I dont think will ever get refilled... but I'll take Sumac and Russian Circles and anything else, thanks gents.
Just weeping over here :')
The tapping!!!!!
These guys are rad and talented!
Sooooo rad!
Amazing album, front to back.
these guys make it look so easy..
Thank you.
Супер, парни реально круто владеют примочками!Звук чудесен , трек очень атмосферный)
Crazy....Lov it
So much going on, info and details, this is so great!!! THANK YOU!!!
behold the blood and guts of a masterpiece, from it's very creation
MOREEE!!!!
Mike could be Abe Cunningham's twin
I AM CRYING YOU GUYS DONT UNDERSTAND THIS IS MY FAVORITE SOMG TO EVER EXIST 💘 IM SJDKDJFHK
really love those type of rare Double cut-away Vintage looking Guitars
they're just my kind
but also love his Custom Les pauls
good sound mate, i can relate to it
bass player is cool too
dont know these guys but they got some sweet gear. the EGC bass looks awesome. that rusty box, and i love the akai headrush delay/looper they use. thats the pedal the guys in Don Caballero used for looping on albums like "American Don"
Fantastic how these guys work with their mines. But magician never tell about their tricks.
Nice setup
I love bands where they play the pedalboard
Nice music
amazing stuff.. guys like nemesis cool, not that much love for that pedal elsewhere. Great song!
What would be the delay tempo for the first part? It's something that really plays back with what's being played, quarter?
Much more interesting Live. There shows speak volumes. Had their drummer been a art of this re-creation, I assume it would have been that more more captivating. It would be awesome if they did the entire score to Stranger Things season 3.
Awesome video. love the band. Love the song. Is it just me of the guitar intro chord progression sounds like the bridge section in Coldplay's song Politik?
well this is fucking legendary
I need those shoes!!!
"Just circling around, with my buddy."
Travis Bean bass??? Holy shit! That thing looks tops!
This was so freaking cool. It would be so sweet it Mark and Joel could go through a Royale song or two like this.
SUBSCRIBE & TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS TO NEVER MISS A TONE TOUR!
I have a very important question about playing this song that wasn't covered in the video: does your shirt have to match your guitar?
Wow
PLEASE!!!! Do this for Afrika.
oh yes, this would be amazing!
Good man !!!
Ampeg v4 that Brian is using right?
Does anyone knows what is the small green pedal in the middle at 0:23 ?
And I was like.... yeah, one day I'll learn that one...... I got some practice to do.... and some pedalebord to improve ^^
Any idea what tuning their using?
Those pedalboards look like something they would use at the CERN.
how those guys uses that amount of loop and dont play with a metronome live?
I enjoy a lot all those spacetrip sound they arrange along with those heavy fuzzy riffs
Amazing. Where's DTurn?
Anyone privy to what that polar bear pedal is on Brian’s board?
It’s a dwarfcraft pitch grinder, really fun and weird pedal
Any idea what tuning Mike is playing in?
Gary Doh I remember him saying he plays in dadgad alot
Is Brian running through the V-4B, Darkglass or both?
Both
Darkglass is for the Taurus. Hope it helps :D
What brand is that bass ?
EGC !
What pickups is Mike running?
Russ Wiley I believe the bridge is a Lollar Imperial High Wind and the neck is a Dunable Grizzly.
big ups for "The Shaggs"
The bass part reminds me of bagpipes somehow
Fucking pedal wizards!!! I want to be them.
Hey, I'm just here for that dunable.
Never heard of em (Dunable), + prrrrrreeeetty. But 2 fkn much pick guard imo! Let the damn wood show!
@@timcorkern naah that looks sexy
“So…check this shit out.. X” 😂
8.10 Good i Can hear you
13:47 is Hilarious.
Fuck. Thank you for making this video.
4:00 "lol you nuts, record my damn fingers not me"
0:55 This is not the way I hear it on the album. Sounds like the delay is configured differently here
A loop switcher would serve u well unless u like to tap dance on the pedals
I cannot understand how they can play and mess with all that shit at the same time.
This is the cool thing about being a trio. You have to get creative to make your sound bigger.
Getting some serious Michael McCann Deus Ex vibes
Nice effects
Good blessed and still blesses you and all your country
And he always has and will
He loves you and all yours

😭😭😭😭😢😢
Great contribution for wanna be pr drummerers
"Mota"? I'm not Mexican but I've been to Mexico and mota means weed there. Who knows, maybe mexican weed was the inspiration behind the piece
Almost all RC songs are named after a person. I think Mota is a friend of theirs.
No they aren't.
I´m mexican, and yeah, we call weed "Mota" but is also a common last name in the country
@@camrootgaming9094 thats incorect, tons of songs are just random names or words.
Just get a loop switcher with midi
Moe- tuh.
In Hindi, Mota means fat. And that's exactly what the tone on the guitars/bass is on this song.
