I just ordered extra tires - ZP1001(used on HB Toys) from BG - good price. RunthatRC post mentioned those as a bit bigger for added height and speed. Orange (or Chrome) rims. Worth a shot for options. Still waiting on my shocks & lights (Aug 4? )
Great review altho other reviews said the top speed was more like 18mph…. I’ve just ordered mine on eBay for £50 so I’m looking forward to giving it a spin and finding out 😊👍
Sorry ordered the zd rocket take a look at the video great video looking another buggy take a look at the zd rocket it's has led light bar at top of the buggy it's cool lite up at night
I took a look but the 16889 seems like a much better value considering the components in each. I may be bias b/c of reports of ZD products having issues with their differentials. I'm thinking specifically of the ZMT-10 9106 which I was very close to buying before hearing of the ongoing issues not just with a single batch but from many owners.
Correct, I saw mine at 3.35v when I tested it as well. Also some may want to cut it off at 3.80v so they can finish with storage charge. But you're right, it's not necessary for safety of the battery for this particular RC which does have the built in cut-off in the ESC.
Yes, I've upgraded it and it's running on 3S using the stock motor. Uses a 60amp ESC. I found that if I go backwards first on the 16889 stock, then gun it, it'll pop a wheelie on 2S. You can check my other videos to see it in action if you want. 3S is pretty awesome, but it works the components pretty hard. I don't necessarily recommend it for reliability. The drivetrain can't really handle it. I admit, it's fun though!
Just ordered mine from "Ali". YES - be careful when ordering on that site as I encountered MANY bad issues with sellers!! New to the RC buggy hobby. So would it be a good idea to add a cooling fin or heat sink to the motor? If so, would I look for a 380/390 application? Is there an extra JST port to also add extra LED lights?
I actually haven't had much problems with Aliexpress. I love that site. Most of my stuff comes from there. I prefer it even over Ebay. Just look for a seller with 98% or higher. 96% at the lowest. I would be willing to pay more for a seller that has 98% vs 96%. Yes, you can add a cooling fan, but the motor doesn't really get that hot even when running it hard. The 16889 uses a 2436 sized motor. The first two digits only tells us it's a 24mm diameter motor. 380 or 390 brushed motor only tells us the length so it's not really comparable. I'm not really sure of the equivalent. There is NOT an extra JST port on the stock ESC. You would have to either use the white connector on it which is common with LED light kits. This RC already comes with lights though.
Just got mine is luv it a fast little truck ordered some oil filled shocks from amazon got the truck from bang good ordered another one the zd buggy it's bad only 100 dollars has large battery and oil filled shocks on the buggy
Cool. Yeah the difference is Bangood doesn't charge tax, at least not in the USA. Where as Aliexpress charges tax. Generally Aliexpress has more inventory of the stuff I'm looking for and prices are generally cheaper even with tax added. I search through both. Yes, I got the oil filled shocks too. Waiting for those to arrive before Christmas. Haha.
@@Funcentric - Missed your reply? My issues with Ali are a good % of sellers can be a joke. Bad & miss informed communication. They cant seem to update their sites for availability! I have had many purchases only to have the seller reply back (after a few days thinking my order was in process) "Out Of Stock". Then you have to go through the long wait for the refund process. The "please send pics" and back -n -fourth messages trying to explain your reason can test your patience with damaged items or returns.
@@MrGlobaldave1 Yeah, I don't normally buy from anyone with anything less than 98% positive reviews. 97% at the absolute lowest but would pick them only if they have an exclusive product. I've been getting more of that "out of stock" nonsense the past year or so. Wasn't always the case.
Glad you enjoyed it! Part of it was filmed in the middle of my lunch where I realized I forgot to add something that should've been included. This and other future videos will be of products after I've already gone through 50+ batteries to get a much clearer idea of any shortcomings that I can report about. I hope I'm able to provide content you're expecting on the channel. Excited you've joined!
Oh yes, even more so. There's just a lot more space in this scale to work with and more room to put stuff under the body. I'll be working on a video about why NOT to buy the combo kits. If you do, just check to make sure the ESC really does support the amperage draw of the motor. 95% of them don't.
@@perspectivemeditation7648 Naw, totally cool. I know Funcentric doesn't really identify what the channel is about. At the time, it was a big variety. I still plan to have some videos about Nerf and FPV quads eventually.
Hey so I’ve been looking at these but I don’t know enough about the hobby yet. I want this model but I’d like to get some extra batteries and a rapid charger. What would you recommend?
ContactHigh You want to look for a battery either for this 16889 or for the WLtoys 144001. They use the same battery size. Physical size is important because the battery tray is quite small and fits only the stock battery size unless you do some modding. I recommend the Team Energy TB6B. The more common SkyRC iMax B6 has too many knockoffs even from Amazon. It’s hard to know if you’re getting the real thing. Make sure whatever you get comes with a charging brick included. Here’s a video I made on how to use it. th-cam.com/video/dGiInCMNq9w/w-d-xo.html
@@contacthigh8571 Thank you. Just make sure you stick with a 2S battery for the HBX 16889. 3S will be too overkill for the stock 25amp ESC that can barely handle the 20amps of the motor as it is. I have an 45amp ESC coming in the mail that can handle the 3S battery. Should be interesting. The next phase after that will be to replace the motor.
Nice video man, cool little brushless truck. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! It's my go to one! Recently tore off a CVD but new ones on the way and it should be up and running again in no time.
It certainly wheelies on 3s!
Yup!
Bro... great vid!...but.. isnt it 4wd? at 11:46 your turning the front wheels and the rear wheels arent turning also..or am i missing some knowledge?
Yes, it's definitely a 4WD vehicle. The rear should be independent of the front. When I pull the throttle, definitely all 4 wheels turn.
limited slip

You do not need the lipo alarm the ESC cuts off with 3.4 left.

Have you tried a 3s Lipo seen videos people put 3s and not burning anything very surprising 3s will definitely get you into wheeling mode.
