Add some reverse lights to the taillight boxes, run an extra wire to junction box. 7 way plug has provision for reverse lights. i added some to my tool trailer, my driveway is dark till you get closer to my house. very handy.
Love it thank you!!! Suggestions I would put a roller on Dover tail for the cable also weld a hook for the winch hook at the end of the trailer instead underneath.. vid on install winch?
Trailer looks good. 3500 for the 10k hauler you have is about right. I just bought a new suretrac 10k Wood deck hauler for3700. It is amazing what people want for used.... But hey if and when we ever sell ours we will want best price too. Main thing is take care of your investment. Be sharp be safe. 👍
Hi first thks for the voice last Saturday had my car trailer stolen im in Bakersfield California ! If I had put a G.P.S tracker on it I would have it back may be this might help others to put one on!
Boiled linseed oil works 100x better protecting trailer decks. Or 50:/50 diesel and motor oil butbest to do either of these on a hot day. One coat a year we got 28 years out of my flatbed car trailer deck. Dont waste yihe money on thompsons water seal.
I bought the same 10kgvw D2E back in 2005 as a close out sale price because it was ugly John Deere green for $2250 In Tennessee (I’m in nj) I really liked the trailer BUTT it vibrated like a mofo empty from day one. I HATED towing it empty, no matter what speed nor what truck, it vibrated your teeth empty! It’s well built , but I sold it because of that , it was easy to sell because it’s well built (o and I always had an issue with chain holders for the flip up ramps dropping on the damn highway) still with those personal issues I’d recommend it to anyone … I didn’t choose another d2e now I’m 2022 because the price wasn’t worth bidens fuel prices. I chose diamond c (over load trail/pj) and so far I don’t regret it
Don't leave anything loose on a trailer . Always take it off or strap it down. I see stuff on the highway all the time because people don't think a couch or chair will bounce off of a trailer.
I paid $150 more for a tongue box from Tractor Supply and it locked me out the very first time I tried to open it after I mounted it. Never even made it out of the shop to use it once. Lol. Had to drill out the rivets on the hinges to get the lid open.
Water is not the issue. Sun is your issue. UV Rays are harsh. If you look, pressure treated wood is wet when you buy it. Diesel fuel, tar and paraffin mixed together one put on wood will make it last a lifetime.. that's what farmers use on their fences.
Thanks for the video, looking at doing the same for my trailer in the next week or so. Question.... I know the winches are fairly weatherproof, but any concerns/problems about water getting in through the fairlead hole?
Doug Masters it could drip in a little, there are drain holes in the bottom of the box and I sprayed the bottom with fluid film to help with future rust
Hi, useful video for me as I also just bought a car hauler. About your trailer box from HF, do you have any brand and model number, I am interested in a same setup. I looked at few and there are different sizes so if you have any info that would be great! Thanks!
Yea this video is 3+ years old prices as you know are quite different now… I just bought a dump trailer that would have been $7-8k when this video was made for $11k
Can confirm. Theyre going for 7k new here in CT. Im picking up an 18 year old used one for $3500 sunday. And to think this guy got a new one for that price 3 years ago. What an absolute joke this economy is…
I was here to ask the same! Looking to do a setup on mine but idk if I wanna hook batteries to it. I might do a removable system and use long jumper cables or a jump pack to power it real fast. Weather will eventually just tske out the winch. Then the batteries will die sitting in the trailer!
I’ve been viewing videos because I’d like to add a winch to my car hauler (also a Down2Earth, very similar to yours but with slide-in ramps). This is by far the nicest setup that I’ve seen, and I’ve watched a BUNCH of vids! I’d love to emulate what you did, but I don’t weld, so I’m thinking that would make it very difficult, maybe impossible. Any thoughts or tips on how I could make it work without welding? Also, how do you keep your batteries charged? If you said that, I missed it. Again, great job on the build - super-impressive!!! And thanks for posting the video!
Buy a receiver mount winch plate at H.F. and use that. Bolt the receiver to your trailer bed then you can slip in the winch. It make the winch removable and way more useful.
@@tjewett1967 that's exactly what I've decided I'm going to do (with their 5000 lb. step bumper receiver) -- in fact, I was just at HFT talking with one of their workers about it yesterday! It'll be about $105 plus hardware and tax, and I'll be able to use it on the trailer, on my truck, and with the 3-point adapter on my tractor. Oh, and I'll need a battery (another $45ish?), and might need to figure out how to get it mounted as well. It seemed like the most versatile and logical thing to do, and she said that as far as she could tell it would absolutely work. Thanks for your encouragement and reinforcement that my thinking isn't totally wack! 🤣
@@brandon6451 one thing to inquire about is the paint/finish. Powder coat is usually pretty good but some manufacturers cut corners on paint to get the price lower.
Fraser Landscape I did, good guy.... prices aren’t low but not high either for what he has.... I may buy a 12 foot landscape open in the spring from him. He has them with a small dovetail and short gate. I like that
Thinking about buying a Down2earth trailer. Did you find much on the internet about this brand? I would like to do my research first. This is pretty much the only good customer review.

Love that pre covid pricing. I just paid 4k for a 7k pound gvwr 20 ft car hauler here in Colorado. Awesome set up!
Just picked up a pair of 7k axles from them in GA. Very nice people and pleasant to do business with.
Great trailer. Looks week built. Good job with the water seal. Awesome job on adding the winch .Thanks
Thanks bud!!
Nice video.. Great job on the winch setup. Wish this was available for $3500 bucks still!
Great job on the winch box.
Bad ass setup I really need that tongue box setup

Put a solar panel on top of the box to keep a charge on the batteries

like it inside the box safe a secure
How has the battery setup held up to real world use with vehicles?
A little under the amperage stated for the minimum. But I like the compact-ness
It did well actually... pretty impressive. About the same as a standard car battery

I was gonna say, you found used trailers for under 3k? NEW for just $3500? This trailer would be 7 to 10k now.

I have a small solar maintainer and it receives power from the truck when attached

What are the dimensions on your trailer
Whose the dealer? Any thoughts on "New Generation" trailer brand?
I haven’t heard of them… however I find almost all brands have upper and lower end lines so it could still
Be very good quality

Cameron Yarbrough I have had many many trailers over the years, I’ll give it a 7 out of 10 for quality. Not the best but very good
@@KenMrKLC have you had Big Tex? Not sure if i want to spend a little more to have a little better quality and the reputation
Cameron Yarbrough I would call the quality of this comparable to big tex. which is also good
Those used prices are only getting worse in 2022
Haha I beat all of you
you move the camera too much, not enough time to see the details etc.
Sorry about that
that looks like 2x2 angle , not channel.
There is angle and channel in it
