    I have a perfect, but slightly different application. I am almost embarrassed I never thought of using this approach before to help me drag a car I have up and down its current ramped resting place. Thanks for sharing this idea. I’m excited to get one and end the need to ask friends over to help push.

    This is the same identical winch sold by Harbor Freight under the "Badland" name, but the Harbor Freight version is just $129 and with a coupon you can get it for around $100, so save your money. I actually got mine for less than $100 because I had a coupon and used the 20% discount at the same time, so there ya go. Just FYI.

    The fraying you see is an issue, that already reduce the working load of that cable, definitely keep an eye on it if you need to use this often.

    I am using a similar winch (ZESuper brand) which I have attached to the boom of a small crane I have constructed in the rear of my Toyota Tarago Ultima, It lifts my wife's (SafeRider brand) wheelchair in and out of our car in one piece without dismantling it.
    Her wheelchair only weighs 42.9 Kg (ie 94.57 Pounds) which is hardly a challenge for a winch rated at 3,500 lbs .
    A cigarette lighter socket is already located beside the crane which powers the winch, I purchased it on eBay for $88.00 AUD .

    the cable is rubbing on the side of the spool. why its fraying. pull it all out and re roll it to where its even throughout and the cable will last a lot longer. also you could switch to a synthetic cable super nice because of not splinters.

    • @mlindholm
      @mlindholm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      XmackattackX I can't say for positive it's rubbing on the side, but I definitely agree about unspooling it all the way, then rewinding under tension (even someone pulling back by hand) as you reroll it. Having the wraps tightening over each other unevenly and randomly will lead to all sorts of problems, like that loop forming as it was loosened at the end, eventually leading to unexpected cable breaks.

    buy a small snatch block,put this at the car end and feed the winch wire back towards the winch.this will increase capacity by 150%.also a lot easier on your winches planetary gears.

    I’ve always wanted a electric winch, but I truly have nothing to use it on. My last car had trouble getting up my driveway (on a hill) when it snowed. I thought about installing a winch in my garage but never did. My current car has all wheel drive and traction control and I’ve never had a problem getting up the hill.
    It seems like it might be good to connect the wired control switch even if only to use as an emergency cut off. Hopefully the remote encoding algorithm is reasonably robust, but it could be susceptible to interference or a button or relay could get stuck.

    • @omardude39

      That's what an emergency shutoff button would be for, not a second controller.

    Thank you for the good video, sir.
    I have a question. Is there any way to use the "car winch" at home?
    (sometimes to lift a heavy object)
    I think I can use winch like this with my short knowledge. Will you check my thoughts?
    Connect the battery disconnected from the car to the winch, then connect the battery connected to the winch to the battery charger and plug the charger into the 110V in the house.
    What do you think of this method?
    And I saw a comment saying that connecting the winch directly to a battery disconnected from a car can overload the battery, which can shorten the battery life and be dangerous. Is that really so?
    If you know the answer to this question, let me know... Thank you.

    • @TimNummy
      @TimNummy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey!
      Connecting the battery directly to the winch without having either a voltage-based cut off switch or a charging mechanism attached (car alternator for example) very much has the possibility of over draining the battery which can damage it. I don't have either of these in place but I do monitor the voltage carefully when I use it and be sure to always start with a fully charged battery.
      As for using this winch as a hoist.. definitely NOT. It is not intended for lifting weight off the ground and could result in catastrophic failure.
      What you'd need to use is an overhead hoist such as this one: amzn.to/3dR0tOM
      I have a very similar one in my own garage, exactly for the use of lifting heavy objects and it's been working wonderfully. And as a bonus, it plugs into a regular 110v outlet right out of the box.
      Hope this helps, good luck, and be safe!

  • @omardude39
    @omardude39 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the review, it seems like these winches are well worth the money and do actually work as described. I appreciate the detail in the review, like the cable shavings and so-on.
    The remote appears to work very well and it looked reliable in your video which is important. But that delay might still be troublesome in difficult operations. I would imagine the hardwired controller is instantaneous. I wonder if professional winch operators prefer hardwired controllers, even if they are on a long lead!

      @@omardude39 I've bought 2 Winches now. But because of limited space and my interest in "how secure does the Winch lock" It would have been easyer if I could see how it was freed and locked again. But there seems to be a Spring which pulls it back in Lock position if its not fully turned into free spool position.
      I,ll use them for a special Lifting mechanism.
