@@JakeLeary I wish I could still sew. Sewing took me around the world more than a few times, making stuff. The shoe making machines are otherworldly as are most sewing machines. Check out the secret life of machines. . . Rock, rock on brother.
I still have 2 of them 😅. I got the OG one where you need to tie the nots. I had a great experience with it, especially in fluffy snow. But it was only useful in good condition. Cause if you use it on hard concrete or asphalt or even on an uneven icy terrain, you could tear the mesh apart. It wears out pretty fast when you don't use it in good condition 😅. Now I've been rocking my gt with an 6 inch hub with a vega treaded tire with some studs. And it works out marvelously throughout the years of ridding in icy, snowy and slushy condition. The studded tire is the way to go 🤟
Haven't tried the soccasin yet but so far the best set up for riding in the snow that I've tried is a GTS with TFL's Pioneer tire, FST footpads with EvoGrip grip tape (Sticky Feet) and the hybrid fender. I just ripped home from work on this setup today and then ripped all over my yard and in the street in front of my house. So much fun. I already liked the Pioneer tire but after today, I am extremely impressed. I was thinking of putting studs in the tire but now I'm having second thoughts. I'll have some video posted sometime between the holidays.
I've still got my old one! Got it ages back and just my luck it hasn't snowed in my part of the UK since. Never got to try it out once 😅 So like not a guarantee but buying one may prevent it snowing in your area 😌
Pro tip for no sharp zip edge: Don't cut. Use pliers to grip the end and twist the tie where it comes out of the zip head. Will break off smoothly with no harsh edge.
Some kind of locking mechanisim would be a big improvement, I haven't taken our wheel appart yet but I defintly have no desire to do so until the stock tire is cooked.
Studded is better for ice but does very little in packed snow. The socassin gives you traction across 100% of the contact patch. Basically if it's good conditions for sledding, it's good for soccasin.
Disclaimer, ive ride my onewheel gt in snow for a winter the first year it came out, they put alot of salt in the street for cars and i think it's mostly that but maybe just the snow has enough calcium to rust the inside, i had to change the motor cause it was rusted all the inside, and the battery was cooked so i had to change that aswell -2k .. So do it at your own risk but wouldnt suggest it. but cool accessorie, float on.
Thanks, they brine the roads where i live too, I hope that dosn't shorten the life of our wheel, we don't ride in the rain and try to avoid puddles, 2 season, and desart dwellers will never know the struggle against rust.
@@gabrielbeaudet6717 Try using ACF-50. It is an anti-corrosion formula. It is made for use on helicopters and motorcycles but it works great on Onewheels.
temps just started to drop to around 35 and im already seeing the a loss in range so idk how guys are going any where in the snow. good on them i guess.
See I need a thing like this that you can install super casually so when it melts the next day or two after the snow you are shredding the thing on the road. Having to take the wheel off is too tedious to do super frequently
This idea was copied from tire socks made for trucks that are used instead of chains. It's way better than any rubber treads. Also bonus it is self clearing so you will never pack your fender with snow and stall the motor.

The videos aren't for you Jeff, they are for us! We love TFL Videos!
They paid me a couple bucks to sew a few of them back together!
It's just good to know you're still hanging around Professor~!~

🐐
Please make them for the pint!!! Have screw-in studs and chicken wire in my Amazon cart as we speak, but the soccasin is the real deal..!
had this been available a month ago, I would've definitely added it to my order
Holy crap, I remember the Soccasin!
Throwback!

You didn't lie. I love you, Jeff.
Any updates on GT MTE restock? Would be a great Christmas gift
Snow = water 👍🏽 Let’s go!

@@TheFloatLife Thanks for making cool shit we can use to shred!
MORE VIDEOS FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!
what material is the fabric? i need one of these today did not go so well...
Polyester
I was so excited about a white tire. Then I realized it said soccasin.
Hahaha yeah it kinda looks like that in the thumbnail.
I fucking love Robert Allen 😂 he rules ass
They call me the ass ruler lol.
When is the ADV2 getting delivered??
Over the years I have my fingers crossed someone will invent similar that we don't have remove the tire, hub to install
🤞

Plenty of ways to do this but they would add significant thickness and end up rubbing on the board.
Dropping a little zip head knowledge! Bonus!
Now Jeff can move to Canada =D
live in Canada now naw stay away its lame 😅
Nice, socks work great on my truck
Yep, I took this idea from the automotive ones.
I remember testing the soccasin in Telluride with Jonathan Stock back in February 2019 against the OG FF Hoosier terrain tire. Similar results.
Ya waterproof is a must. Just a pain in the butt to replace anything.
Great video!
Is this better or worse than spiked or studded tire? For traction specifically.
Studded will probably be better, but it's a lot of work
@ Yeah that’d make sense. Cost more id think too
Studded is better for ice but does very little in packed snow. The socassin gives you traction across 100% of the contact patch. Basically if it's good conditions for sledding, it's good for soccasin.
How does this do on ice?

Note* i badgered the onewheel and use ring protection for the bering. lifesaver. Rust still founds its way. anyway

Wouldn't recommend riding on salted roads, especially with a soccasin. It's for frozen and unsalted snow only.
Will this work on sand ?
No
is the soccasin on float life shop or onewheel
Float life
TFL. FM never does cool stuff to help the community.
I was riding Leavenworth two years ago just thinking that I need one of these
i need to dedicate a board for the season ❄️
temps just started to drop to around 35 and im already seeing the a loss in range so idk how guys are going any where in the snow. good on them i guess.
You just don't go as far. Super fun to pull someone on sled though.
These have been out for at least 2 years. I've thought about one, but they're just going to wear out so quick
Longer than that actually. Robert the guy who designed them works at TFL.
Rode one Feb 2019 in Telluride
@@TheFloatLife I want to ride on a frozen lake in my area people snow mobile on it when the announcements are made that it's safe to be on
When I get off work I'll check out the video in full. The idea seems great
They wear out fast on pavement but if you make sure to only ride in snow they will last a while
See I need a thing like this that you can install super casually so when it melts the next day or two after the snow you are shredding the thing on the road.
Having to take the wheel off is too tedious to do super frequently
While you’re in there put on the locking ring for the motor plug up sale my bro
I thought those were for protection when mobbing unfamiliar terrain
I can see how these would be good for slick tires but I don’t know how it would be better than a tire like the Pioneer in a soft compound.
This idea was copied from tire socks made for trucks that are used instead of chains. It's way better than any rubber treads. Also bonus it is self clearing so you will never pack your fender with snow and stall the motor.
Weeeiiirrddd!!!
It's a Subaru tire sock!
Yup, copied the idea from automotive tire socks. It works!
Flush cutters guys…flush cutters…
Pro Tip: Use fingernail clippers to cut the zip ties flush.
The pint's stock tire is useless in the snow.
Agreed
as much as i want one there is no way im paying $100 canadian for a snow sock :(
I don't blame ya!
get out your special sock, nerds!
