Recorded on Tuesday 2nd December 1997 at BBC Television Centre, London, UK. Tracklist 00:00 Intro / Jam 01:12 High Times 05:29 Interview 09:18 Travelling Without Moving 13:34 Alright
I was there, one of the best moments of my life , nothing will ever matche to those musicians , they have opened some doors, on the future in a sooo smart sweet and wild way ...............
I used to watch Jools Holland's show on Tv in Portugal and I have this performance recorded on tape. More than 20 years after, I find it on youtube. Brilliant!
I love everything about this! Living in the US and really only being aware of Jamiroquai for just a few years, I really enjoy hearing the variations in sound with different band members. I also love the camera action and general vibe of a talk show in the UK. I'm truly jealous of those living there, because this is where so much great music is born. Two of my favorite bands originated here, Led Zeppelin and Jamiroquai. Yes, very different sounds which demonstrates the eclectic feel I love in my music. And, both bands have an insane range of sounds, as well. I obviously heard Jamiroquai in 'Napoleon Dynamite' and fell in love with "Canned Heat". Being just shy of search engines, I never heard anything else from them...except "Virtual Reality" maybe in a club and didn't realize the 2 were connected but also loved the sound. Luckily, a Jamiroquai song popped up in YT suggestions a few years ago. From that moment on, I have searched out every song possible and am a HUGE Jamiroquai fan! Too much great stuff often doesn't make its way to the US. Even though it may not have caught on in the US, this Southeastern US chick, who knows great music, is feeling all of it! Anyway, all of that to say, I love this and the UK knows how to jam, baby! 😁
From 15:14 to 15:28 These piano chords are exactly what defined the Jamiroquai sound in the 90's it was so unique and groundbreaking in the mainstream music. When Toby Smith left, Jamiroquai was not Jamiroquai anymore, it's now a great Funk/Dance band. When you hear Emergency on Planet Earth, this is not a typical acid Jazz/Funk album, it's unique. When you listem to Dynamite Album, this is good quality but typical Funk/Disco/Jazz music like 1000 other bands.
Jamiroquai was Zender on bass (with those "aggressive coloured" funky riffs), and Toby Smith on keyboards (Wonder 's chord extensions and all that stuff!) . They were the best!
I follow them since their debut... Favorite band of mine since Tears for Fears, have all their albums and never got the opportunity to see them live! I live in Canada!!
Jamiroquai must have gotten a lot of blowback about the first verse, originally that was "You don't need your name in bright lights, you're a rick star. In some tinfoil with a glass pipe is your guitar". It is so hard to find a performance where this line is included. I thought it was the best analogy of the whole song. Oh yea. Jay Kay and Jamiroquai rock!
For me, I find it a bit disappointing that it went from this, where every tune made a statement with a fantastic track, to the bland output of recent offerings.
JK and his band are super tight and made some awesome songs. I think JK was quite insecure and acted up because of the pressure. Not sure who he had around him at their peak but he had nothing to worry about with a great band and its a shame. I bet he's actually a good guy.
@@cannonfodder691 Im pretty sure - Polish bird invited me to some house party in Islington or somewhere that way. Maybe Finsbury Park. Long time ago and as the man once said "I was very, very drunk.."
Just found this video review of Automaton (the whole album)! My week has been made already - roll on Friday :D th-cam.com/video/0Tlmv2xRd6I/w-d-xo.html
I've just been listening to Rock dust light star yesterday. So glad I did...I was painting... it uplifted me... he/they are good...uplifting and often meaningful when I listen to it carefully. Blues Skies is So beautiful God Bless
such an awesome performance! so much so that it took until my second time watching to notice jay kay is completely devoid of headgear throughout this whole thing; crazy!!
Thanks a lot. Trying to ignorethe superficial interview though and bad subtitles and some songs are about cars yes but there are a lot of lyrics which are with a deep wisdom. Love these perfomances love Jaykay 's music love and his radiance.

I can imagine Did Jamiroquai take the show ?!
That was 1997, here I am in 2024 hearing this brilliance for the first time! ❤
9:54 toby going absolutely mental on the keyboards
Agree. Smooth vibes coming from his keyboards.
Jesus, these guys sound incredible. How many bands can reproduce such a tight sound live?
loads.
Most university jazz bands have this level of delivery
check out nubiyan twist
@@selwynsivagumar wouldn’t really say that, hell Jamiroquai does it better.
The Main Squeeze
So true
My thoughts exactly
Rip to this Version of Jamiroquia and Toby Smith ..The Zen man 4 ever

Cool
Tha was a magical time
Jay K is a cool ass dude. Top quality musicians. His music always makes me feel good
Ah. Best jamiroquai line up... I’m really one of those “Jamiroquai-was-better-before” kind of fan. Thank you for the music.
Jay tried to keep that band tight even in later years.
Stuart's bass influence 👌 Toby's keys directions 👏🔥
@@minorsnow5306 He did, but this band is nothing without Stuart Zender & Toby Smith.
💯
@@Probot4 a bit harsh, they're still great, Paul Turner and Rob Harris are fantastic musicians
24 years ago... Still seems like yesterday

Great post Diva, nice comments..❤
One of the best bands of the 90' s by far. M
Yes that’s what I would proclaim to everyone in the 90s but no one would listen
Toby😓❤
RIP Toby Smith :(
I remember the first time I saw him ! So amazing ... Jay keeps on making real good music now ...
❤ 2024 and JAY KAY and JAMIROQUAI still in top form with New Album on the horizon. 😊
Still love them now but can't beat the old, original line up. Always had such a cool horn section too 🎷🎺🎶
He literally did my three favorite songs! This footage is gold!

MarkTere LOL dynamite was good at best. Def not shit
I agree but I think they stopped being Jamiroquai was when Stuart Zender left. It became a slow decline in what they were.
Jamiroquai was Zender on bass (with those "aggressive coloured" funky riffs), and Toby Smith on keyboards (Wonder 's chord extensions and all that stuff!) . They were the best!
Those arrangements...awesome and then getting caught... those grooves . What a funk soul brother.

how many buffalo man is there tattooed on his left arm, done in 2022 on Jay's birthday; Jamiroquai tattooed in the heart ❤️🇮🇹
The first 3 albums are the best because of Stu Sender.
This is the band I miss the most. Without so much as a auto tone button. So much real talent there. 🔥💎🔥💎🔥💎
You are so right man...
Keanu reeves also sing??? That man is just about everything
jajajajajaja in the minute 05:16 Jay K makes an electric bridge with de bassplayer.... jajajajajaja....

That's happened to me a few times! it sucks.
searching my reflection for a glimPse of another me. ha !
Ferrari jacket on point
Just to show that pop music need not be mediocre 4 chord predictable mundane fodder😜
Woooooow,,,, Fantástico,,,,te amo JAY KAY,,,,,LOVE YOU JAMIROQUAI ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
For me, I find it a bit disappointing that it went from this, where every tune made a statement with a fantastic track, to the bland output of recent offerings.
The recent albums were good, apart from RDLS and Automaton - they only have a few “great” songs in my opinion.

Utter professionals. LOVED thier earlier sound. It was so much heavier, raw and tight.
