Your trips sound about like mine. I’ve got lots of similar stories to swap sometime. On way back from buying an excavator 2hrs from my house I smelled diesel, stopped and looked and saw fuel shooting out of my fuel primer pump, bottom of paper gasket seal blew and was spewing it everywhere. Was by a golf course and tried to ask if anyone had back of steno pad or something to use but no luck, ended up using a leather glove, traced the gasket outline, cut it out with a pocket knife and installed it. Didn’t leak a drop and it’s still installed that way many trips later. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, when it breaks, fix it up and keep trucking. Love the content, keep it coming.
The thought of someone going around a golf course to borrow a glove to make a gasket is so funny, glad it worked that’ll be one I store in my brain for emergencies
Now imagine a country the same size but with a fraction of the population. Welcome to Australia ahah. I just drove from the bottom to the top and back again.
@@JC-zg4xe Yeah. but yours is mostly desert. it’s been a month man this is the only guy I genuinely enjoy watching his way of making vids and just all around a great guy I hope this isn’t the last vid from the legend goodrich
Wow, I bet not too many people could have pulled that move off. Great to see you use your skills to solve problems as they come up. Keep making videos, there are some of us who look forward to them.
Jeezus you were giving me PTSD flashbacks from when I owned a 1974 Freightliner that was 13 yo when I bought it. Good truck, but it was 13 yo and I was always broke living load to load. Old Maude was tired and broke down A LOT. Never in a good place, either. Learned how to slither up inside to do engine repairs without tilting the cab because that was a nightmare unloading everything not tied down. Didn't have a portable wire welder, those weren't around back then, but it wasn't hard to sniff out a local welding shop to do some creative stuff. Good luck and spend a few bucks on some base material for that corner.
Your persistence and most importantly, attitude always pays big dividends. I knew that you would have a few issues, anyone would, but you managed to overcome them all, no sweat. Looking forward to seeing you fix up the daily. I forget if you mention it or not, but are just going to launch the bed and just toss on a flatbed instead?
Crazy trip man. Welding that fitting at gas stations had me laughing pretty good. Epic load. Not sure that would pass MTO inspection up here in Canada lol.
My Man Hunter, I'm sorry that I'm late. Now that was fucking exciting. First the tire rolling off, then the blowout, the injector problems, it scares me sometimes that you travel alone. But how you solve all the problem so sensibly is admirable. That is another reason I love your channel, see, it's not just waiting on that flash of skin. lol Your brilliant. When you say your lucky, your are indeed Hunter, your living "your dream". I also want to mention I really enjoy your editing and camera work on this. Some of those shots with the sun behind you are amazing. The shots out the cab window are priceless. I think that old ford girl really loves you and did her best to bring all your belongings home. Stub was so excited to be home he almost jumped right off that damn trailer. Again we all have to give you high praise for getting that massive load finally home. Hunter I'm happy you got all your possessions and toys home safe and sound. Love and Peace.
Attempting to weld the injector line was worth the attempt! Good on you for giving it a shot. And that drip would probably have gotten worse with time. The fact that you were able to weld it enough to make it that far was impressive!
Hunter , I respect the hustle my friend !!! I’m dying to see you get settled in and start building and creating and repairing stuff. Thanks Hunter. I enjoyed this crazy trip
Hunter your amazing. You take the cards your givin, and you keep going no matter what. Not giving up, you figure it out and keep pushing forward. You’re an inspiration for the next generations 👍🏼
Literally just got to 1m50s was about to say alloy wheels corrode check your tyres… and wheel nuts. Here in england we have to show we’ve checked wheel nuts every week to our government body. Ive never had alloys on a truck before.
I don't think that I've ever seen someone as patience and determined as you. I'd of lost my shit in the first 5 minutes and then said fuck this I'm done 😂👍🇨🇦🔧
to fix the fuel line when the line itself snapped instead of the fitting, I'd get a 1/4 steel coupler or whatever is closest to the line diameter, and then use a 1/4 npt die to thread both ends of the fuel line. and then 3 rolls of teflon tape lol. I highly doubt that would leak, but as far as it breaking again in 10 miles who knows. do the lines have a special heat treatment? seems like the welding made them brittle, not that you really had any other options though... love seeing the ingenuity and self reliance. keep it up.
Teflon tape does not seal nor was it meant to. And Teflon seal a diesel fitting and get back at me. The tape literally will disintegrate and get sucked in
Whenever you're creating any structure that should resist shear (like those metal bars securing your pickup), always try to create triangles in each plane.
That stretch of interstate at the North Carolina/Tennessee line is my favorite part of that drive between Ashville and Knoxville. Such fun, twisty roads. At least in a car. In a semi, I'm sure they are insanely irritating.
Me and you have very similar luck, that's why i started shipping stuff I buy online states away instead of getting it myself. I have newer and older trucks/trailers and haven't had much luck. The way I decide and convince myself to just ship stuff is just "pay 1000$ to ship a pickup truck from texas to my state, or drive there spend nearly that in fuel back and forth. Hope nothing breaks or don't lose a tire otherwise that would already put my costs higher then shipping and staying home." I know your situation here was much different so paying someone to ship all that wouldn't have been worth it. It's nice/sucks to see someone with terrible luck waiting for the days of some good luck such as myself LOL!

Probably the best truck Ford ever made. Between owning the two of them-- Lets just say, I'll never be a chevy or dodge guy
Hey hunter will you ever restore your cabover? I feel like it'd be a fun series just like Deboss with their cabovers! Maybe not as far as getting it to an immaculate condition but just restoring on the mechanical part of it, and rejuvenation on the cosmetic part of it. I'd like to see your cabover as being dependable one day without any major mechanical problem 😂
I had a cat b model that had the same problem breaking lines, to solve it you need to get an arrangement diagram of all the injector line brackets and mounts, it is vibration that breaks them and one missing bracket will let the lines vibrate and that is what causes the failure.
This was a crazy adventure. I have noticed in the other trucking videos zero outside rolling shots. May I suggest a few gopros? One facing the trailer for some truck stop and in town maneuvering and one in cab of you rowing gears. Would make for some cool b roll and would feel more connected to the adventure.

I never thought about using leather for a gasket, but thinking about it, that's a great idea! 👍 🤔 😳
After getting stuck on that corner so many times you think it would definitely be worth the cost of for a load of gravel to widen that turn 😉

OMG Love the sound of that cat. That growl, black smoke, whistle, tires spinning. So cool!

As when u was broke down it would of been nice for Heavy D to fly his helicopter in with the part u need. U went out of your way many times for him.
I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that does something unless it works out well for him. Idk but that seems like a good idea of how he really is!
great video Hunter ,you seem to be able to solve your problems without too much hassle ...but what a trip....happy you got there safe and sound
Not having diesel going to a cylinder will not give the upper cylinder lubrication and kill the piston and liners. It will happen very quickly.
