      I've installed four MRCOOL unit's to date, including replacing the *entire central A/C system in my late mother's former home.* Best of all on that one, her old system used a 10kW resistance heater strip for heat. The replacement MRCOOL is able to heat down to -24°F, so no need for a resistance heater coil. My mom's electricity consumption was cut in half! MRCOOL systems rock!

    That truck upgrade is way cool. Perhaps you could convert the old truck to become a water tanker/fire truck. It would give you fire fighting and an income option to hire out.

      I was just thinking about this. It's small enough to get into a lot of places that bigger water haulers can't get to. either beef up or add stand alone air compressor system and electrical system to consider running a welding box or air tools, extra fuel storage maybe, then a big 'ol water tank and pump system. maybe a winch or two for recovery options. then you have a robust repair or fab support truck with a lot of water available as well, an all in one utility for offgrid neighbors or friends. power, water, tool support - it'd have it all!

You may want to reprogram your TCM to not jake brake as aggressivly on the highway by changing the target gear on the TCM to 5 rather than 2. Just a suggestion - You should change out all of the wheels on your roll-around tool carts, welding machine cart, and plasma cutter, to all terrain tires so you don't have to continually lay down plywood in order to move things across gravel and rock. Would be beneficial when working remotely as well. Would make a fun video to watch!

      Depending on the weight of what he has in it you might not be able to find pneumatic tires for it unless they are WAY BIGGER! I think even the 10" tires only hold like 440 lbs. A tool box that size can easily weigh thousands of lbs!

    Please invest in a couple of fall arrester's for the bi-fold door before someone gets injured or worse. They come in many weight capacities. You would mount them at the top of the frame work for door and then to the bottom. It will amaze you how fast the door could fall.

    • @olenilsen4660

      How would that work? Sounds like something that´s installed on wires, which broke in this case?

    • @deadone99
      @deadone99 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@olenilsen4660 A fall arrester is a device that is permanently mounted at the top of the door and has a large cable that would be mounted at the bottom to the door. If the door were to free fall the arrester would stop all downward movement. The arrester needs to properly sized for the load. That being said it needs to mounted to a strong point of the building. On your second point it sounds like the cables for the door are undersized for the load.

    Now's the time to modify the LMTV bed with some brackets. you can keep the dump bed on it, it'll make it easier to load/unload things on it. Make some mounting brackets for a fire suppression tank, grass sprayer, welder/generator, etc. Turn it into a tool/emergency truck since it's so reliable. And since you don't need it to be a dump truck anymore, you can mount brackets all around the bed without having to clean it out all the time. It'll be perfect for taking supply trips also, and helping the neighbors out in the winter.

    Just a wee suggestion. Give a moments thought to dismantling stuff in the future. I always put bolts in if possible, the awkward way so if I ever have to remove that process is easier. It's always easier for example to drive a rusty bolt inwards where you can get a swing at it. Quite easy to install " backwards" when it's new and unblemished. Forget about looks, nuts and washers visible is of no consequence.

    • @donmathias1705
      @donmathias1705 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You were wondering about the spacers on bolts. When you do a bolt up it stretches. If you have a short bolt it applies the same clamping force as a longer bolt for a given torque. However if the short bolt is subject to a load that tries to stretch it, it will yield, in other words permanently deform. It will become longer and when load is released the bolt may become loose. A spacer allows for a bolt that has a lot more compliance but does not become deformed. An example is often the bolts that hold an excavator slew ring in place. Lots of long bolts with spacers.

    Hey that’s a great truck build!! If I can give you a tip on tailgating stone from a guy who has done quite a bit of it. Get the box up first before you unlock the tailgate so the stone is all at the back of the box. This will help it come out even when you unlock the gate. I know you showed you manually unlocking it from the back so it probably wasn’t an option but for the future give it a try. You will be surprised at how much better the stone comes out. Good luck and keep up the great work!!

    Great job, and great video.
    Two things:
    - First, don't forget to use the cover/tarp/net to secure your load, as otherwise you could lose bits of rock that could damage other vehicles, and you'd be on the hook for the repairs.
    - Second, you might want to attach wood boards to the top of the sides (think 2x8 or so). You can't carry any more, but it would help keep your load where it is supposed to be. They will also provide some protection for the dump box sides.
    Looking forward to seeing what you use the truck for.

    That is great converting the army semi truck into a dump truck but what you gonna do with that old Orange dump truck whatever is left of it did you pulled with the skid steer? Maybe chop off the front part and make it into a tow hitch so that the army dump truck to it as the secondary dump trailer you just need the back part with the wheels and the dump bed and just make a hitch tow hitch in front, welded to it and Airlines and hydraulic pump that’s controlled from the army dump truck.

    The paint on military vehicles, which is called CARC, is a carcinogen! You should not be grinding, cutting, sanding, etc. that stuff. It is nasty and requires a respirator and better yet a special paint remover.

      Yup, I had a friend die from the chemicals in it.Took the V.A about five years to figure out what was wrong with him. By then it was too late. He was painting in a new spray booth in a brand new support maintenance shop which was made out of concrete blocks. When they built the shop they didn't seal the blocks and the carc went into the cement and slowly came back out when he wasn't wearing a respirator.He finally absorbed enough of the chemicals to kill him.

    Be very careful dumping on slopes, especially while moving. That's not a huge bed, but dump trucks can be quite unpredictable with the center of gravity raised. The load can stick or slide out unevenly making it even more squirrely.

    I've seen a few videos where people use a shop vac and rag to negatively pressurise tanks like that to prevent leakage when removing hoses that you don't want to leak everywhere. You could also 3d print an adaptor for the vacuum end to the tank if you were doing it solo.
