I would say American Idiot (the song) kind of sets the stage for Jesus of Suburbia, where he feels disenfranchised with where he lives; hence "in a land of make believe that don't believe in me." Holiday definitely sticks out narratively, but I feel Boulevard of Broken Dreams is just Jesus wallowing in despair, though chronologically this would make sense to be after Letterbomb. Wake me Up When September Ends, however, also sticks out narratively.

Yeah I actually thought about both what you said about American Idiot and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I thought about a possibility for Holiday is him spending time in the city of lights or something, and then the American Idiot could in fact just be describing him. Wake me up when September ends just doesn't make sense no matter what tho lol
