    Ive just bought a used X-T20 and OMG was i pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to set A, S and M priority! I bought the camera body only and dont have any fuji lenses with the selector switch and really thought Id bought a pup till I found your video. Thank you so much, the X-T20 manual gives no clue how to do this.

    I just purchased the X-T20 yesterday. I love the Fuji gear and the control system, but a word of advice: The only downside to Fuji is their lens caps, they suck. Probably the loosest of any manufacturer. So I purchased Sensei metal screw on lens caps for my lenses. Very secure and keeps out dust.

    good day, i have a question about video recording on fuji xt20.. when i was taking video there’s a yellow icon pop up on the screen if i shoot more than 10mins.. is it ok to continue shooting or it will destroy the mechanism of my camera.. thank you hoping your i can get a good answer..

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The X-T20 is designed to record up to approximately 10 minutes in 4K (up to 15 minutes in Full-HD). The icon is to advise you that you are about to reach the end of the clip. The camera will shut down as a safety process, to avoid any damage to the camera.

    Thank you. For some reason I can not see the scene on the screen with the luminance changes produced by the variations of aperture or speed or ISO. The brightness of the screen always remains the same. I have not been able to solve it. Thank you

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have any of the three parameters (Aperture, Shutter Speed or ISO) set to "Auto", the camera will adjust that parameter to ensure correct exposure.
      However, if you have all three set to a manual setting, and you don't see any changes, there is a chance you have the screen setting set. Go to "Settings" > "Screen Settings" > "Preview EXP/WB is Manual Mode" and turn that on. You should then see a preview of the resulting exposure.

  • @christopherhughes1184
    @christopherhughes1184 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for this video! I am still trying to figure it all out but wondering if you can help me with a few things?
    1. When I switch to video mode, a lot of the settings go away, it seems (like autofocusing choices, aperture, etc) - I presume this is by design and I'm not doing it wrong?
    2. When I am in video mode, just trying to shoot a video for you tube (me, in a chair, camera on a tripod) and my camera is ALWAYS autofocusing, even when I'm not moving! How do I stop that?
    3. I had to buy an HDMI to USB video capture card and it seems to bring in the video in good quality, but there is a lag and so my audio is out of sync. I know the XT20 doesn't have the USB tethering built in, so I guess I'm stuck with this lag, unless you have some suggestions? (As an aside, is this lag also present in the Fuji cameras WITH USB tethering?)
    Thanks so much!
    Chris

    Brilliant video, thank you. I have a question. When using an uncoupled lens (manual focus)- I set the focus to "M" on the camera. I like to use Focus Peak Assist, but I cannot get it to stay as the default assist. Every time, I have to cycle through standard, split screen, to get to Focus Peak - Ugh. Is there a way to set this as default.. Many many thanks.

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you change the focus assist to a particular option, it normally stays in that selection, until you choose a different option.
      Please ensure you have the latest firmware (V2.01) installed.
      Another option is to try a camera reset, but back up any custom settings to your computer first, using Fujifilm X-Acquire.
      Otherwise, please contact the customer support group of the Fujifilm office in your country, as they are better suited to assist you.

    How come you doesn't have owners manual that instructed using the 16 - 50 mm kit lens? Because most of the set up is, you have to put to "A" on aperture switch which only the 18- 55 kit lens have. For a beginner like me it's confusing and frustrating. Thank you

    hi sir i am purchasing this camera last week for video shooting ,pls me tell some videography setting for event shoot

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For event photography, that would depend on what you like to see. You may want to have the focus set to single focus and use the touch screen to control your focus. As for colour settings and quality, that will depend more on what you like! Try some different film simulations and see which one you like the most.

      Hi Eduardo, If you are using the XF18-55 F2.8-4, there is an aperture ring. For lenses that do not have an aperture ring, the front dial is used to adjust the aperture. Otherwise it is not active.

    Thanks and regards,
    Marco

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you simply place the sutter speed dial to the T mode, (Timed expsosure) This gives you the full range of shutter speed using the front command dial by default but can also assign it to the rear command dial depending on your preference.

      Hi Kelsey, Best to use the RR-90 remote. It will allow you to easily hold the shutter release and even lock it should you want to expose for a longer period of time. The X-T20 also has a classic remote cable built into the shutter.

      @@fujiguys what does the C,M,S toggle do? You only mention C being continuous auto focus.

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. "S" stands for "Single AF", meaning you half-press the shutter and it locks focus, then stays at that focus until you fully press the shutter, or release it and start again.
      "C" is "Continuous AF", meaning that when you half-press the shutter it will focus and then adjust the focus if the subject moves.
      "M" is "Manual Focus", meaning that you manually turn the focus ring on the lens.

    hello,
    I have 2 lenses without aperture ring. How do I get P and S mode?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When using the X-T20 with lenses that do not have an aperture ring you use the front control dial of the camera to control the aperture of the lens. Look on the display screen; if the F number is coloured blue, the lens is in manual aperture mode. Rotate the front command dial to the smaller apertures (bigger numbers). Once you reach the smallest aperture (F16 or F22; depending on the lens), the next click turns the aperture number white and this puts the lens into "A" mode. If the shutter speed dial is on "A" then you are now in "Program". Turn the shutter speed dial off of "A" and you are in Shutter Priority.

    Hi Fuji guys! I am a newbie and I got my x-t20 with the 16-50 mm kit lens barely a month ago. Just a quick question, when i set the lens to 35mm, i cannot set it to f3.5 or f4. Is it really normal? Thanks for the help!!

    • @michaelzimmermann7734
      @michaelzimmermann7734 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Pat, the experience you have for setting the aperture will depend on the lens. In your case, the kit lens has a maximum aperture range of f3.5-5.6. What that means is that at 16mm (zoomed out all the way) you can set a maximum aperture of f3.5 (the smaller the number the larger the aperture) and at 50mm (zoomed in all the way) you can set a maximum aperture of f5.6. In between the two ranges the maximum aperture changes fairly linearly between the two values, i.e. 35mm is roughly centered between 16 and 50mm just as f4 is roughly centered between f3.5 and f5.6.
      The reason I said it depends on the lens is because some zoom lenses like Fuji's 16-55 f2.8 have the ability to maintain the same wide aperture throughout all focal lengths. There is certainly a premium both in cost and weight for these lenses though. Hope that helps!

    • @plr-c8648
      @plr-c8648 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Zimmermann thank you for explaining it thoroughly! Now i understand why i can't set the lowest aperture on the kit lens. What lens can you suggest for a newbie like me? I would like to photograph portraits and street sceneries 😊😊 is the new 35mm ok for that? 😊

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well said.

    • @michaelzimmermann7734
      @michaelzimmermann7734 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pat - I think you made the right decision starting off with the 18-55mm lens. I recommend spending some time with this lens and figure out which focal length you like and use the most. Then go for that prime lens. Some people say 35mm (which is 50mm equivalent in full frame) is too long meaning too zoomed in for street scenes but then not long enough for a good portrait lens. I tend to think that if you want a lens that is good for both, it is a really good focal length. I think you should also consider the 23mm focal length (35mm equivalent) which is obviously popular because Fuji has the X100 line only with the 23mm length for a reason.
      If you don't know what I mean by "50mm equivalent" let me know and I can explain more.

    • @plr-c8648
      @plr-c8648 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Zimmermann hi Michael thanks for all the explanation!! I am not familiar with the 50mm equivalent and 35mm equivalent at all!

    How can I set AF-C SET2 on my preset C1?

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no option to be able to assign a continuous AF (C-AF) custom setting to the C1 in the Q-menu.
      One option would be to assign AF-C Custom Settings to a Fn button. Then you could press that Fn button, which takes you directly to the AF-C custom settings, and make your changes in fewer button presses.

    How do you change the iso

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jaydev. On the X-T20 you can change the ISO by pressing the "Q" button and selecting the ISO, then rotating the command dial to select the ISO. If you have the "Auto-SR" mode enables, the ISO is set automatically.

      @@fujiguys thank you sir. Can i customize the settings so that i can change iso by any of its dial for faster operation

    • @fujiguys
      @fujiguys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! You can customize the rear command dial so that when you press it in, and rotate, it will change the ISO.
      Press and hold the "DISP/BACK" button for a few seconds until the schematic of the camera comes up. Scroll to "R-DIAL", toggle to the right. Select "ISO". Now, when you press in the rear command dial you will be able to adjust the ISO, then press the command dial in again to confirm.

    great little camera. but fuji keeps falling short of having a great camera. (everyone) want fully articulating screens. and fully funtional touch screens. and IBIS. hopefully the next XT3 will have it. i love the size and weight of the XT20. and touch screen. but wish it had everything the xt2 offers. weather sealed 2sd cards. a screen that adjusts for portraits. and a headphone jack on the camera. fuji really need to enter the world of IBIS. and they need to improve there eye focusing. they have all the great small primes that could be stablized with ibis. fuji has some really good cameras. and is so close to having some amazing cameras. please fuji dont hold back

      Everyone? I couldn't care less about a fully articulating screen or IBIS, or weather sealing. Fully functioning touch screen would be nice.

      Hey... people do like the detailed reviews. Please don't dumb down for audience retention statistics, if you have good content people will skip to the part that pertains to them, especially if you offer a TOC in the info section for what the subject matter is at the corresponding time.
      If people can't be bothered to skip or wait for an decent explanation, they have a patience issue!!!! No offence Chris T ;-)

    • @Stealther
      @Stealther 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No offense taken 123brummer. My issue was more with the delivery than the content. I agree that a TOC in the description would always be a nice thing. Audience retention is quite helpful to content creators to see what works and what doesn't.

    • @123brummer
      @123brummer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Fair enough. My fear is that we live in a world of 5 minute information bites, and viewer retention will suffer because people gradually lose their attention span because they just want the "best bits" and instant gratification.
      I do have another channel we're I post regular videos, so I do understand how to read analytics. They are fascinating and sometimes arbitrary at the same time. Sometimes the goal is to hold the viewers attention for the whole clip, other time (like in this case) you may just come here to find the answer to one question and tune out again.
