Bought a scuffed X-T20 for 350$. Had a crack in the strap lug but was otherwise new. After 40K photo's in 10 months I can confidently say it really is a bargain for the price.
The feature set for it really hits beyond its class. I've never held an X-T# series camera, but there's just something about the charm of a really tiny SLR-Looking camera that fits snugly in your palms, along with a cheap pancake 7artisans prime. Video quality is good enough, especially for the price. It would still be a still focused camera though.
There really aren't many complaints I can give to it. Well for one, the indented exposure compensation dial is very tight. Even though it's close to the thumb, I don't really see why it's that tight to prevent accidental bumps. Autofocus selections also arent the best, but I shoot with manual focus anyways, so it doesn't bother me. I guess one of the bigger complaints is the teeny tiny viewfinder. Depends on how much you like using a viewfinder, but be weary of the not-100%-coverage of the X-T20 viewfinder if it's important to you. If you wear glasses, the EVF will not have a 100% coverage, and in bright situations glare is very strong. Would recommend a hot shoe rubber eyecup piece if you shoot street a lot.
Lastly, build quality. It's made in china, and being something you won't see unless you compare it to other fuji model's, you can feel some of the cost-cutting in the build quality. the rubber thumb rest is a known issue, and if you get yours used it would most likely fall off within a year or two under heavy use. it also scratches very easily but that's also maybe just a thing with fuji bodies.
One thing with the touchscreen - During focus check, I wish fuji would allow you to turn it off. My nose keeps changing the focus point, and it's annoying enough for me to disable the touch screen permanently
TL:DR IMO best cost to performance ratio camera for the fuji system under 400$. Tiny EVF and Build Quality are some of the downsides. If you are a street shooter get the hot shoe rubber eyecup, and any manual focus lens you desire. I recommend 7artisans primes for their size. Shutter release buttons are cool too. If you have big hands get an external grip.

As a fellow XT20 user, I will attest to how capable this camera is.
It is a good camera for beginners, and an excellent camera for professionals.
It is 2022, and this camera has kept-up with the same work load demand as my XT3 and XT4.
You can shoot it within the boundaries of its limitations, then be creative and shoot beyond its limitations.
Definitely a keeper, even if it isn’t for everyone. I look forward to the day where there will be technology that will help me weather seal it while maintaining the way it looks stock. 😁

Hi! Thats a great video tho! Btw, may i know if you could help with my camera choice. Im torn between XA7 and XT20. Im a beginner in photography. I was into XT20 at first but im afraid im overwhelmed to see the 3 dials and dont know how to use it. Is XT20 suggested for a beginner like me or just buy the XA7?

    • @SuperSlackOff
      @SuperSlackOff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Definitely go with the XT20, its better in every way.
Don't worry about the dials, you can run this completely on auto without touching any dials if you wish.
The dials are there to make quick changes once you start getting better, you will get used to them.
XT20 is like a good car, as you can better it can cope up with your demands. Its much better to stick to a good camera and getting better than moving from camera to camera never actually getting good at photography, which is what the main goal should be.

I've owned a number of X models: T10, T2 and currently a T30 and H1 all in black. What I've noticed is the silver units don't seem to hold up as well as the all-black models. Every time I run into another Fuji user on the street with a silver model, it's almost always banged up (top and bottom plates). I take care of my cameras but I don't baby them. All of them looked great after years of use. My T30 and H1 get a lot of use and they still look great!

    • @SuperSlackOff

Well, I live in Bangladesh. It is barely available used. But available new. I think you have to go to your local camera market and look for it. Compared to the XT200, it is way better. One of the main reasons to move to Fuji is its Xtrans sensor as opposed to the Bayer sensor of the XT200. If you are going to pay peemium , might as well have all the advantages Fuji has to offer.

I am between this and x t200 model. It will be my first camera. I gemerally planning to use it for photos. What do you suggest?

    • @SuperSlackOff
      @SuperSlackOff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I suggest the XT20. One of the main reasons to go with Fuji is its X-Trans Sensor with its 6x6 pattern . Which is a Fuji exclusive. The XT200 is a capable camera, but it doesn't have the Xtrans Sensor. Instead it has the Bayer sensor, thats the regular 2x2 pattern that any other camera brand has. If you are going to buy Fuji , this should be one of the top reasons apart from ergonomics. I have seen people buy the XT200 and then sell them after 6 month, this is what has flooded the used market. Meanwhile the XT20 is still holding its value and will probably turn into a future classic.
The "x-trans sensor vs bayer sensor" is a very old debate, but it comes down to light. The x-trans sensor has more chromatic resolution sacrificing a bit of color. But Photography is a lot about light and in my opinion after using top of the line X100v which also has the Xtrans sensor, I believe it produces image quality nearly as good as some full frame cameras. The XT-200 is sharp, but its not always about sharpness. Sometimes we use diffusion filters to take that "digital edge" off , we are all looking for the magic. But the answer is that the magic is not in the technology. Its us. We need to go out more and shoot. If photography is what you are looking for and a no-nonsense beast, I suggest Canon 5D Mark 1 or Mark 2, Sony A7 mark 1, A7S mark 1 . They have a magical look to them.
Check out my review on the 5D : th-cam.com/video/Abls2nrd7o0/w-d-xo.html , just read the comments from the 5D users, you will know.

The XT200 is a nice General purpose camera. But certainly not better than the XT20. One is a beginner entry level to fuji system, the other is a prosumer camera with sensor from the pro camera . If you want downsampled 6k to 4k video then go with sony a6500, it has IBIS , also has pixel binning. Both the XT200 and XT20 suffer from rolling shutter in video.

    • @SuperSlackOff

XT20 all the way, if you need stabilization, its much better to use a compact gimbal. Also Fuji has a better Eco-system of thirdparty and Fuji lenses. For photography XT20 is still a great choice. OM-D may look promising, but it will eventually lose out in lowlight due to sensor size and if you want the Fuji feel that everyone talks about XT20 is a great starting point. Also Fuji holds their resell value.

Autofocus is excellent on this camera. Go to metering and select Multi, the touchscreen can also be used to focus any where you touch on your screen on live view mode. Thank you for being here. Hope my videos help you somehow. If you need any help, I am glad to help.

The wireless transfer of photos compresses the quality. Beter don't do it. I love this camera.

Nice review. I am planning on getting my first camera, but I can't decide between the X-Pro 1 and the XT-20.
They are both about the same price in the second hand market, I heard that the X-Pro 1 shoots nice film-like quality images which is something that I'm looking for. How do you think the newer XT-20 competes in this regard?

The X-Pro 1 is technologically much inferior to the XT-20, but it has higher pixel surface area due to lower pixel count allowing you to take more film like images.
Beware that X-Pro 1 is 16MP, will not do 4K video , no tilting or touchscreen (not that its needed).
Where I live the Xpro-1 sells for no more than $200 USD, thats an accurate price for it even on ebay, if its that price then go for it.

Bought it new 3 years ago… then I upgraded to xt4 since I have collected big prime lenses 16/1.4, 23/1.4 and 56/1.2….. I was thinking to sell it off after getting xt4… but the size is just small enough to carry around and has great features….
So I keep it and thinking of getting smaller f2 prime

I also bought an XT4 but like you mentioned, XT20 is small enough and is a camera you can take with you everywhere! I previously had an X100V and an XT20....I was new to photography....sold them and got an XT4. Though I love my XT4....I really wish I also had a small camera as I would use it so much more!

If a camera can last you 2-3 years only then it's not worth talking about.

Functionally it can last forever, like my 5D classic has been running for the last 15 years. What I meant was that the tech would get old for the people who want the latest. Sorry if I have represented that information incorrectly.
