I’ve recently had a lumpectomy and nodes removed. However if I was to do a video I would add that I feel very sore and extremely swollen. I know everyone is different and experiences are different. I get sharp pain shooting through my breast and my rib at times. I’m very bruised as expected and have large cuts. I was in and out in the same day too. There’s areas which are very numb. I have a large indent in my breast too as to be expected really. It’s amazing what the doctors can do and I’m thankful.

I pray you are well now! I recently found out those sharp pains are the result of the nerves which were damaged during surgery and they are mending. The human body is remarkable!

I wish I saw this before my lumpectomy. I just had mine a few days ago and I’m still experiencing a little pain, but seeing this video would have made me feel so much better. I went through almost the same thing you did, except I didn’t have a wire. They did a savi scout a few days before. Right now, I’m waiting for the pathology results. Thank you so much for making this video.

Hi I am so nervous because I went to a plastic surgeon two weeks before my scheduled lumpectomy and he was discouraging me from having it, telling me my lump is close to my areola and I might loose my nipple because it might die... Thank you so much Courtney for explaining everything so well. Your looking great! Proud of you, your a brave warrior. Congratulations that it didn’t spread, awesome! I will share my story, in hope that it may help someone that doesn’t know what to do. the first I felt the small lump was 11/15/2020, all that I’m about to share with you occurred in 6 months time frame. I am having surgery 06/28/21 - Radar localization lumpectomy Sentinel nodes biopsy left breast, and a wire localization biopsy right breast. Also I am getting plastic surgery done side-by-side. I didn’t know I can get Plastic Surgery previously, a friend told me if you have cancer your insurance company will pay for plastic surgery for your entire life. You might want to have a consultation with a reputable plastic surgeon, if you feel you may want this option. During my MRI, my right breast lit up, no tumor, 1 cm. Area lit up like a Christmas tree. I went for an MRI biopsy of both breast, left can back cancer, the right came back A Typical, but my doctor says she won’t know if the right breast has cancer until I have the surgery. Interestingly, I first went for the mammogram because I felt a 1 cm lump on my left breast. The biopsy of my left breast came back no cancer, A Typical. The right breast came back normal. Biopsy was negative for cancer. I was told, the (A Typical cells), would turn into cancer eventually 4-5 years, that I had to get the lump removed a lumpectomy. basically, no rush. I went for a second opinion, the minute my new doctor saw me, she said, that she looked at the mammogram, ultra sound diagnostic, all of the images and reports, and that “it may be cancer.” She continue to say, “It looks like cancer”. Then she said, I don’t like how it looks it looks like cancer cells.” I lost my breath for a few minutes and felt faint. Immediately, she send me for an MRI, then a MRI biopsy of both breast, 4/30/21 I was diagnosed with cancer. It is a big deal. Side note, the first biopsy said my tumor was 1 cm the size of a peas, my MRI biopsy confirmed the size of a walnut and growing. I’m at stage 2, it’s treatable. If I listen to the first doctor and waited, we all know the answer. Finally, I had a genetic test 91 genes results, came back negative. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I don’t party, and I am a vegan. Extremely Clean lifestyle. Also, no one in my family has ever had cancer. The only thing I did different was, I took bio identical hormones because I started menopause 2018, stopped the hormones 3/5/21, doctors orders. I believe the hormones gave me cancer. Please be very careful with bio identical hormones, do your research. Also, get a second and a third opinion, make sure you go to a top cancer hospital with new technology and equipment. I am in Miami and I am going to the Miami Cancer Institute it’s a Magnum hospital. After all, you are so worth it! Do your research please.

Thank you for this reassurance. My mom's having her lumpectomy/sentinel lode dissection today. Her breast cancer is stage 3 grade 3, triple-negative invasive carcinoma. She's had 7 rounds of chemo(bi-weekly); 4 of adriamycin and 3 of taxol(2 rounds switched to weekly lower doses). The last(8th) round was stopped by her oncologist due to concerns about her CIPN(Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy).

I had a lumpectomy in 2017. I'm wondering why you needed chemo. I didn't do chemo . radiation or hormones therapy. I did do something natural to build up my immune system. However, the reason I opted out of the aforementioned is because my onco dx score showed that in addition to my tumor being so small there was a very low chance of cancer returning. It's been 5 years now and so far so good. Cancer is not a one size fits all. Each woman has to research her own particular cancer

When I prayed a prayer of blessings for Benny Hinn's Christian Ministry I was instantly healed of heart palpitations and another time I prayed it I was healed of excrutiating rectum pain. You can try it, try praying it every day, if might heal breast cancer or other problems I don't know. Look him up on UTube or online, it's very interesting. Let me tell you also that the night I read the Bible out loud for a few minutes is the night I went to bed with no neck pain. My reading must have healed me. It was pain so bad I couldn't sleep on my sides or tummy for years only my back. I really try to read the Bible out loud every night since then.

I said i can end up with heart failure bc this would be over my heart. He said ive never had a case like that. I replied, do you follow your patients for 10 years? He said no. I said well it could tske 10 years. Then i asked if i was your wife or daughter would you recommend radiation? He said no. Id just recommend watching it every 6 months. Enough said. I thanked him and was on my way. I did a ton of research and bc of my research I was not over treated. The radiation dept is a huge money maker for hospotals. @@YT-ml8gz Hey there YT2000. Just like you I've had neo adjuvant. Chemo followed by lumpectomy, developed a bad infection, pathology didn't clear margins. So back to have 2 nd go around. It seems it's normal protocol that all lumpectomy patients are coorced into radiation therapy. Your the first YT I've heard to refuse this automatic treatment. I went through 4 1/2 weeks daily radiation. The skin there is now browned and leathery and shrunken on that side. I wear a prosthesis to give me a normal profile. Now their wanting me to go on Anastrozole or Tomoxifen. This is where I'm saying no. All this has gone on for a year and 3:mos. All the Chemo drugs with their similar side effects have me hurting so much there is no way I'm taking an Aromatase inhibitor medication for the next 10 years. I think your right to advocate and research for yourself. Then say when you've had enough of these extremely toxic treatments. I'm moving ahead. Following an anti cancer diet. Fast 1 day a week. It would be nice to keep in touch with others who decide to break protocol but continue with other strategies in their health care. Best wishes YT. I be thinking of you, wishing you well.

Did you get sick waking up from anesthesia?

I had nausea but that was because I became allergic to the scopolamine patch I’ve always had in previous surgeries. My doc should have ordered an anti-nausea med in case I needed it, (which I did) because I advised her I couldn’t have the patch. I wasn’t nauseous in the recovery but became so riding home, and it continued to get worse over the next few hours so I called the on call doctor who sent over a script to my pharmacy. Lesson learned, if I need other surgeries I’ll ask for the anti- nausea prescription in advance.

How long after this surgery were you able to do normal activities?

Hi! I would say by the next day or two I was up and moving around just fine. Mild pain/discomfort. I did follow whatever recommendations my doctor had given me as far as lifting restrictions/driving, etc. but overall, I felt pretty good and went about my day as normal. I hope that helps!

Make sure you talk to your doctor about Pain Management because it may not hurt while you’re doing it but it will hurt afterwards and don’t let them lie to you cause it does

Saw your video Thank You! I also was looking for an 'after' video. Today is Sat Jan 4, 2020. On Mon Jan 6 I get the 'seeds' then (I think that is the injection (x4) that you got.) Jan 8 Wed I get my procedure done. Saw your velcro bra... jealous they told me to use an athletic bra... I'm thinking if i just had surgery n have a drain how am I getting it over my head and on the girls?!?! We shall see!

You will want to get a bra that either zips, Velcro or have clasps in the front (no underwire). They gave me 2 compression bras in the hospital but I still bought a few more to switch out. Speaking from experience. I had a bilateral mastectomy 3/20/23.
