I just found this on my recommendation and this came out nine months ago by the time I’m writing this comment.
I’m starting this video right now, but I want to say this is one of my favorite films of all time which you can tell by my profile.
It just brings me pure joy seeing content of my favorite movie since it’s pretty underrated and barely gets talked about.

My feed is bringing all the Laika film essay/reaction vids lately and I’m EATING THEM UP.
Coraline and Paranorman were my faves when I first watched them in theaters and are STILL top tier when people ask for my list of fave movies.
I have the DVDs and watching the behind-the-scenes further cemented my love for them.
Coraline hit my horror loving self’s heartstrings when I was a kid (and as a lover of the novel and Neil Gaiman, it slayed).
Paranorman coming out a few years later hit the supernatural/comedy/horror/campy genre beats really well, but it stuck out for me for its deep messages and themes. Mob mentality, the unknown, persecution/ostracization/bullying, etc. The climax and its atmosphere and dialogue always pluck at my heart strings to this day. ❤

for some reason, as a kid, i liked Paranorman much better than Coraline, but that's maybe bc I love gory stuff... Still, I really related to Norman and I still think the story is really cool. I'm not hating on Coraline tho!

Paranorman is amazing! 🙂 Also, I believe Kubo and the Two Strings is also PHENOMENAL as well. I actually like them both better than Coraline (even though it’s amazing). Studio Laika is unreal

While Coraline is a great movie if you're going for a straight horror movie, but Paradorman is good if you're looking for a dark comedy. I always find something new every time I watch it and find more things to laugh at. Out of the two I prefer Paranorman, but I can see why Coraline is the more popular.

Nah. The “just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s evil/wrong/gross”/“don’t judge a book by its cover” message is probably the most prolific theme in kids media, it’s not deep in the least. This movie has too much sexism too it’s just a dud all around.
