@@tanmaree1290 Dont they usually cop a plea to less time, or to avoid the death penaly? That's usually how they get them to fess up the body location. Some nuts are hard to crack, in those cases there's not much hope.

I love how strong Rachel's mom is. She is living for her daughter. She raised a strong independent, kind and beautiful daughter and she is still holding up that same awesome attitude ♥️ My heart breaks for her.

The crazy thing is that Caroline is pretty. She could have asked Rachel to help her, work out, learn dance from her. It's insane that she murdered her....

To Starling Swallow: No, Caroline COULD not have done as you have said. I grew up with emotionally abusive parents; they really do a permanent number on one’s ego. My mother was a psychiatrist; those type of people can really go for the emotional juglar.
I don't think anything would've changed if Caroline and Rachael had become friends. I don't believe that Caroline hated her, I think she was in love with her. If they'd been friends and Rachael eventually found out and rejected Caroline's advances, that most likely would've made Caroline even more hateful towards her because her 'love' had been rejected, leading to the same result. Just my opinion. If they had actually become friends, I genuinely wish the outcome had been different.

As a therapist, I had non compliant teens, and I gave them permission to participate or not. But they did NOT have the choice to be in the sessions. Over time, they began to talk and share their inner life.
The feelings she had towards herself in that spotty dotty note are so sad. I’ve felt them myself and it’s so difficult to live with. There is help out there for those who are ready to change them. You owe it to yourself to make this one and only shot at life better. If this message is meant for you, listen to it!
Crazy part is she wasn't even ugly herself.

To the people that say they're weirded out by Rachel's family being happy. Not only has it been 23 years since Rachel was murdered people can smile when nervous.

Haven't we learned about obsessive stalkers enough already, to know that if You don't put them in a psych ward immediately after the first arrest/court case, they will absolutely continue and eventually kill.. of course there are these obsessed people who don't have criminal history, who kill their first obsession, but too many times we hear, that the stalker had history of stalking and violence..

Im a grown man and was stalked in my mid 20's by a guy who wanted me and wouldn't let up....You think that if you call the cops, they would rush to your side and help ya but sadly, that is not the case...Questions about WHAT I was doing to give him some idea that its welcome must be ruled out. THEN, the perpetrator must actually DO something illegal before the police intervene and if the stalker is smart, covering his/her tracks to make them look innocent is pretty easy.....

As someone who has been through a lot of trauma, I can attest to the fact that when I talk about it, even to those that I'm close to, I smile. My therapist was actually the one who pointed it out to me. It's easier to smile because I hate crying. Especially in front of people. It was considered a weakness in my house growing up. If I don't smile, I'll break.
I know, when I talk about some things that have happened I try to make it sound amusing and joke about it. It’s too real to talk about to anyone without making it lighter.💕

She was spared by being sent to her parents.

To those who are uncomfortable with the mother and sister smiling and laughing while talking about Rachel-They've cried so much from the day they found out she was murdered and over the years and I think that's a coping mechanism.
I laugh sometimes when I'm nervous and smiled on the funeral of someone I love.
That's my way of dealing with it. It's not disrespect, it's to prevent myself from falling apart. I've cried so much from the tragedy of losing someone I love so I had to find something to cope with while talking about him or else I'll just break down.
You may not like or understand it but people have different ways to cope through stress and depression.

These comments are disgusting. A mother lost her child and a sister lost her sibling to murder. It is disgusting how people still feel entitled to assume how others should respond to an impossible situation.
Caroline was a very disturbed young girl. She lived with a dysfunctional family so no one saw the signs. The obsession turned deadly. Losing a love one is devastating. 23 yrs later Rachel’s family is still using coping mechanisms not to breakdown . Really sad

The first story for a planned murder only 14 years wtf. That is so unbelievable. The second one he’s just evil. If he didn’t want to be with her why not just break up with her. What was his thinking and then trying to implicate his wife. Evil beyond words. He should never leave prison. 24 years is definitely not enough.
We have had almost eight years since my brother died in August of 2015, we smile and laugh these days better to be happy than sad it wouldn't be what these treasured people would want.

Caroline is a very troubled person. Imagine her thinking that murdering and stealing Rachels' identity would somehow make her Rachel.
Her parents are still grieving but choose to celebrate their daughter's life.

We all need to recognize mental illness in others and be able to report it so the sick person can receive help before it's too late. Governments need to put these sick folks in custodial care for their own good as well as others.

You're right. Even though Australia is a great country, their (un) justice system is a joke. It seems that they don't care about the safety of society. It's the same in Great Britain and Canada. I don't know if in other ex British colonies, like Canada and Australia, is the same. What a shame.

It kind of bothers me how they keep mentioning how unhappy Caroline's home life was and then contrasting it with Rachel's 'happy' one, and continually talking about Rachel's beauty and popularity. 1. I grew up in an incredibly abusive household and was bullied *horribly* in school. I was like the opposite of popular. But I did not ever harbor the desire to murder anyone so that's not exactly a prerequisite to jealous murder, they were simply circumstances I was born into. and 2. Rachel's death would have been just as tragic had she not been 'beautiful, popular, and happy.' Just a little pet peeve that I hear a lot in true crime reporting. On another note, not sure if everyone knows this but her mom actually wrote a book called Perfect Victim. It's really good!
A lot of people commenting on the sister and mothers laughing but a lot of people do that when they are talking about something they don't want to talk about or when they don't want to cry. A lot of people do that - even the lady in the second story tried but eventually cried anyway

Some people smile when they are about to cry or to cope it's actually very common especially when on camera, it has been years as well.
How disgusting to judge the expression of a grieving family who we know for a fact were not involved. Have you ever been close to someone who was murdered let alone a family member? Have you had to recount the events to the public in an interview? No? Then keep your judgements to yourself.
Everyone reacts different when it comes to GRIEF. Stop judging this poor family. It's been a long time since Rachel was killed. They've now come to terms with her being gone. They're actually smiling because it's am uncomfortable topic to discuss or because they think of all the happy times they had as a family. Stop judging other folks. We need to stop trying to victim blame the families of the deceased. I'm happy that Rachel's family have found ta way to move forward without feeling guilt or angry for still living.

Shame that Rachel's murderer got such a light sentence. As for Kylie I think it says a lot about her character that she had no problem going to bed and having an affair and planning a life with a married man. Having said that still nobody deserves to die that way but she was self-centered and foolish

Wow after hearing about how much Caroline hated herself and her appearance..is so sad because when they show her real photo …Caroline’s actually fairly pretty .. and maybe if she had grown up in a better household and was given psych treatment, then she might not have fallen down this path. Very sad. Very sad for Rachel and her family.
My daughters been gone 23yrs and even tho I manage to smile and remember the Time I had with her. Believe me these parents are still hurting inside and prob feel guilty every time they do smile but when yoir thinking of fond memories sometimes you cannot help but let that smile creep on your face , no matter how terrible their deaths are they were here once and they achieved amazing things while they were so please do not make ppl feel bad for having fond loving memories

There's a point, though, where forcing doesn't work. The person has to *want* help or nothing changes.

I lost two brothers few years ago and we smile when we talk about them bc we love them so much and it keeps their memory alive so it’s not strange her family seemed happy they were prob happy someone cared enough 23 years later to talk about what happened to her

The fact that this young woman wanted Paul to leave his wife and new born son to start a life with her and her baby shows she’s not a good person. Sorry for her family that she was murdered but she was not innocent in this. The only victim was her unborn.

Wow they sure give short prison sentences in Australia. Crazy they let Caroline out when she was 33, still being able to have her whole life ahead of her. In America, Caroline would’ve gotten a life sentence.
Have a look in Russian justice system. u can get 4, 5, 8 years for murder and get out after serving half of that

For the second situation; if the police are sure kiely got off in Dubbo , they should just contact a really competent psychic and find her. There are alot of famous psychics in NSW. Yes he's so damn cruel he wants to constant cause them pain. He's getting a high off of lying about where the body is. It keeps family on an emotional rollercoaster that he's in control of.
Indeed, I felt very uncomfortable to see Rachel's mom and sister laughing when they were talking about the loss of their daughter-sister.
My mom passed away 30 years ago, and I still can't help not to crying when I picture her life in my thought.

We ignore that a primary risk factor for women is pregnancy.
Pregnancy represents added responsibility for these particular men.
Naively women believe that the father shares their joy and excitement.
We would be shocked to realize the number of women murdered after announcing a pregnancy.

I don't believe for one moment that the pregnancies are accidents.
There seems to be 2 groups of women that become victims of homicide:
#1.The Stacy Petersons, that had every reason to believe their husband wanted the responsibility of a family, and the #2. single women that had the goal of a relationship with a man and believed a pregnancy would assure them that future relationship.
For these particular men that murder, it's the responsibility they do not want, and are willing to murder to escape it.
Yup. I was in a 6 year relationship. When I became pregnant he became a different man.

It's a coping mechanism. Laughing is a very similar action to crying, I've often mistaken the sounds, so if you're trying hard not to cry, it's easy to turn it into laughing.
It's part of the Kamala Harris culture...

Caroline needed help desperately. If she did not go to a psychologist, couldnt the psychologist do home visits in these cases?
That’s crazy! He only got 24 years?! I know this may sound cruel but he probably burned her body in the house. He should never be allowed out of prison and I hope the family appeals the case and he gets more time.

In the second story they need to treat that guy like a child wants attention, don't give it to him! Stop asking him where she's buried. Stop running to him everytime he wants to "tell you the truth" about where she is. When he let's you know or sends you a message that he's ready to tell you, tell him to send it in a letter through his attorney and you'll take a look at it. When he stops getting the attention he seeks to manipulate you he might actually tell you. I know you have to follow up everytime he sends you information but you don't have to jump and run everytime he says too. Seeing that he is so evil he will probably go to his grave not telling where she is he loves the cat and mouse game he's playing.
What they should do with these murderers who don't tell where they hide the bodies is give them a time period to confess and if they don't by tht time then they stay in jail even when their sentence is up which would mean life.
Not to victim blame, but with the second case, its literally why you shouldn't cheat. For both of them it ended their lives. Obviously he had some evil in him, but you shouldn't start relationships with married people, even if you are getting a divorce or are separated.

I remember reading Rachel's story years ago when I was younger. She's buried not far from me.
My brother passed away 9 years ago next month, and I still have a hard time keeping it together when I talk about it. I cried just this past Sunday, when death came up in conversation. Rachel’s family smiling and laughing about her death is bizarre.
Just because they don't express themselves the same as you doesn't mean they didn't love her as much as you loved your brother...they may not feel comfortable talking about something so personal on camera or they may just not be the type of people who wear their emotions on their selves. Everyone is different.
My brother was murdered 27 years ago and I still cry for him. I’ve never laughed talking about his death. We may have smiled or laughed about something funny that we remember him doing or saying when he was alive, but talking about his death still brings my sisters and me to tears.
I also lost my daughter to suicide 4 years ago. I have cried every single day since, at least once, if not countless times. I do know that people process grief in different ways, but I don’t see myself ever getting to the point of laughing when I talk about our tragedy. The slightest thing reminds me of her, and then I’m running to corners or bathrooms to hide my tears. There is no more laughter here.
For all you know they had moments that were cut in editing. Not everyone grieves the same. I smile when I think of my grandma who only recently passed away. Is that bizarre to you as well?

@@whosaidthat9265, I was not judging. I did say that I understand that people process grief in different ways. I just don’t understand some of those ways because I have walked this path.
I have lost 4 elderly grandparents and a beloved mother-in-law, whom I was with when she took her last breath. Each of these deaths were DRAMATICALLY different than losing a sibling or child to murder and suicide. Grieving someone who had a full, and happy life is just not the same as someone who is young and was robbed of a future. I hope you never need to experience this to understand it and empathize with people who are going through it.
@@brendagallegos3042 I had a friend who was murdered. I’ve had a friend commit suicide. I’ve had a child who died. None of these happened as recent as my grandmother passing hence I didn’t reference them.
I send love and light and remember the good times and smile about each of their lives and the privilege it was to know them. Again...is that bizarre to you?

In a disfunctional family when there isn't much love around you, when nobody tells you, you are beautiful and loved, some might think what Caroline thought about herself. You might think that you are not worthy of love. That's just so sad. I'm so sorry for Rachel.

no, sorry, I am "weirded out" by Rachel's family. Certainly, you can be happy in general and enjoy life but when talking about your murdered daughter or sister and her tragic death, the nonchalant manner as if discussing some minor past event, the laughing and suggesting your daughter could have done better at defending herself, and the smiling, especially the sister, are very disturbing.
It's beautiful the way wen Rachael's name is mentioned how her mum and sister smiles they obviously had some absolutely beautiful memories of her ,I would like to say Caroline is evil however I don't know her or anything about her life so it's not my place to lay blame there are definitely no winners it's sad devastating to say the least two families tormented because of the loss of a beautiful girl who had her life to live and family to love rip angel fly high

@Venice FMC Office I can’t get that part straight, because some accounts say she took a taxi and others say she rented a truck. Both would be very difficult to carry out.
@Venice FMC Office one wonders how she got away with even the basic logistics of that; carrying the body to the truck or taxi, none of the drivers becoming suspicious. Not to be too graphic, but Rachel had been in the flat for a few days by the time she was moved. It’s astounding Caroline got away with as much as she did.

Rachels Family has learned to live again. People learn to live with grief. They do not stay crying and uncontrollable sobbing forever. People get up, they go on. They've no choice.

My husband was murdered, in front of me. 11 years ago. Today, I laugh. I smile. I enjoy life. As Rachel's Family is entitled to. And should. You cannot stop living , you must go on. Everyone deserves to be happy.

I can't imagine seeing a child and saying "yeah I'm jealous of their life and I want to be them". That's a crazy thing. I know a 19 year old is still a kid but she's a lot older.
