I wanted barrettes like that so bad when I was a kid. My friend had the cutest hair. We were playing at her house and I asked her mom if she could do my hair like Kiki's. Her mama looked at me and said 'child you don't have the right hair for it but I'll try'.
I sat so still while she did her best. I was so disappointed my hair didn't spring up in braids to show off the barrettes. Her mom hugged me and said 'baby God made us all different so we'd love everyone '. That made me smile and we went back out to play.
God bless that woman cause she was an angel being so tender and kind to an innocent child

My baby niece once told me "there is no such thing as too much glitter". I'm going to guess this little precious baby feels the same about "bow"rettes! There is no such thing as too many! Grandma was just feeding baby's creativity and free spirit!! Baby is gonna take care of Grandma when she makes it as a creative!!💕
I was triggered. My Granny in Trinidad did my hair once and chiiile it was heavy! I didn't trip too much because she was just chatting away the whole time telling me stories. I kinda think it was the art that came from the journey of her stories. It was ugly tho 😄💜

I think her mama sent her by Gmama’s house without her hair being comb. Since Gmama was off she had time to do her hair real pretty. Big cousin parents know the risks so that’s why her hair was combed already.

Harriet from 1st AME Baptist Church of God in Christ and momma didn't drop her church dress off yet, so any color dress momma drops off for sSunday school is going to match a few of those barrettes. Her hair can stay that way for weeks, too no frizz. She loves it! She is shaking it back and forth.

My Li'l girl knew what time it was when I said "Get the hair container", it held barrettes, bows, knockers, scrunchies, rubber bands, moisturizer, grease, cream, oils, spray bottle of fresh water, many combs and brushes. She was natural before it was in 😂🤣😂 my friends kept saying "why you don't relax or press that baby's hair?" She's 20 now with long, luxurious natural hair over 2 feet long. I know I overshared, but oh well. Have a good one. 👍🏽 💛

Honey... It made me sad, thinking about it. My mama gave me 4 plaits with rubber bands every week for 10 years, and sent me out! She was "mixed why that Indian", so didn't know how to do my coarse, coily hair. I snuck over my aunt's and relaxed my hair, cuz I was Sick ovit! My hair laid like Aaliyah, and that ticked my mama Off! She told me "You permed it, so you take care of it!" She didn't know she unleashed a cosmetologist, loctician and trichologist, that day!

I was a very lucky girl… My grandmother used wash and press my hair. She had professional tools too. It was the 70’s. And when she burnt my ear she used butter.🤦🏿♀️
My Mother who was a Beautician (Stylist), back in the Day, (who gave me a French Perm at 5 Years old because She didn't want to comb my hair, it was very long and thick I had a lot of it), did this to both of my Daughters, when they were little. Needless to say, I never let her do my Daughter's hair again. Too much is too much. Poor Baby. I know how Her Mom feels. Every bow and Barrette in the Bow Box. 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I remember back in the day I went to school with girls who hair rivaled this. I always wanted some of those barrettes for my hair but my mother would not buy them, only classic fabric ribbons and bows.
I mean absolutely no harm when I say this, but seeing her all those hairballs and barrettes in this little girl's hair reminds me of the "ugly Christmas sweater" contest to see who can outdo one another by putting the most decorations on their sweaters.

This reminds me of the cornrows that had all those beads lined up on the ends that made those click-clack sounds every time you moved. You're right, they could hear you coming, the original child monitoring system. My drama child had huge happy-making bows for the top of her head. I bet lil sweetie wanted all that and I'm happy for her. She looks happy and it's not hurting anyone.

My daughter recently wanted a bunch of barrettes in her hair. I did as she requested. Not as many as this little girl but close..an less colors. I took them out at night and reapplied the next day. SHE LOVED IT!!
