Not always. Out of her ten top 40 hits (eight in the top 10) in the US, she co-wrote four: She Bop, Time After Time, The Goonies 'R' Good Enough, & Change of Heart. By comparison, Madonna co-wrote the entirety of the albums True Blue & Like a Prayer, combining for ten top 40 hits (nine in the top 10).

Cyndi was in a band called Blue Angel before her solo career kicked off, who put out one really cool album in 1980. Personally, I think her fans wanted her to stay the same forever, but in fact, look at her output since the 90's and she tried changing too. Not as much or as dramatically as Madonna, but she too tried out various styles along her path with not as much fanfare or publicity to keep her at the same status she had in the 80's.

Sang this like a lullaby to my son when he was in NICU, fighting to breathe. "If you fall, I will catch you," meant I'm giving you all of my strength, kiddo. The song must've worked, my son is now 24.
Read your reaction while holding my twins and suddenly couldn’t see through the tears. 1.5 pounds each at birth and almost 4 months in the NICU, will be 2 in October. We sang to them all the time too.
It's not about her being mad at him but her coming to the sad realization that they aren't meant for each other. He's more mainstream and content and she wants more and rolls a little different. This song always makes me cry.
I was there in Colorado Springs in 1981-1984 and when I got orders to Guam, I left my GF there where she lived and she said this song and against all odds by Phil collins were the songs she listened to constantly hoping I would call her to join me. It ended up I did and this year will be our 40th anniversary…so it means a lot to both of us.
Miles Davis liked this song so much that he made an instrumental version and it featured regularly in his concerts. Cyndi Lauper said out of all the folks that covered it Davis' version was the one she felt most honoured by.
Yes. It is a beautiful cover. Miles Davis absolutely made me love it in instrumental form which I thought I would have never appreciated and adored.❤🙏🎺
Cyndi Lauper wrote "Time After Time" with Rob Hyman of American rock band "The Hooters", who also sang backup on the track. Cyndi came up with the title when she saw it in the magazine TV Guide. Cyndi's actual mom and boyfriend are in the video, portraying her mom and boyfriend. 😊
❤ the comment.I was Lucky enough to meet Rob & The Hooters Summer 1981 in Wildwood New Jersey... My Roommates were the house band at club called the Rainbow 🌈 & they knew them ( I had Great R&R life late 70's to mid 80's ... by making stage clothes and friends in bands met UNREAL amounts of rockers and more) SO I got to meet them when the came to Wildwood & played at club Maggie May's...few years later got to sit in studio a bit in Manayunk Pa while Rob & Cyndi were working on this , didn't stay whole time, was with friends and we all left to go get something to eat & left Rob and Cyndi to it. LOL 😆...it was 1st time I saw Cyndi ( I'd never even heard of her) ...didn't even really meet her then...but did get to do shots with her awhile later at one of the many house party's when she was in town.....Another Big LOL......knew Robert Hazard ( who wrote Girls Just Wanna Have Fun...met him shortly after while my BFF was going out with his then bassist Rob Miller) too...Let's just say that Rob #1 was Awesome Rob #2 was a dick...LOL Thanks for the comment that gave this 65yr old Punk a great smile 😂😊 & great memories. ...Hope you don't mind Old Lady's Overshare!!! ❤❤
Ty for saying this or telling your story As us being locals the Hooters were huge to us. Going down the shore, Wildwood was awesome then especially as a kid in the 70’s teenager in the 80’s. Great song
@@MP-od1zz Big LOL, I was at Drive-in for filming of that video. I was dancing in the big crowd...you don't see me though, I'm 4ft11 & was swallowed by Cowd LOL.,haven't seen video in awhile just remember watching it Tons when it 1st came out and only caught one shot with me in it....Was shot from the back only my right butt cheek & leg in it because girls in back of me were much taller LOL 😆😆
My mom died in 2018 and I had to drive almost 6 hours to get to her, That was the longest time of my life. But this song came on and I had this overwhelming feeling come over me like she was telling me no matter where I am just to look for her and she’d be there. She always knew my love for music so it only made sense for her to send a song to me. I choose to believe that anyway. Anyway great reaction and much love❤️
Cyndi Lauper was unfortunately pitted against Madonna in the media when they were on their rise to fame. Both Cyndi Lauper and Madonna released their first albums in 1983. Lauper’s “She’s So Unusual” boasted the hit singles “Time After Time,” “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” and “All Through the Night,” while Madonna’s eponymous album included “Holiday,” “Lucky Star” and “Borderline.” Cyndi revealed in a recent interview that her record company had tried to compare her with Madonna, which Cyndi heavily resisted; "As if you could only have one woman who is successful. What the hell is that about? That woman’s been entertaining us for years. She’s made great pop songs. I want to be competitive, but not pitted against another woman. I’m not into that." Cyndi also explained how she made it a point to distinguish herself from Madonna when they both had blond hair during the 80s; “I said, ‘OK, doll, I’ll just put a black spot here, so they know the difference between the two of us." When recently asked if she ever spoke to Madonna about their dynamic, Lauper said, “Nah. I didn’t think she liked me that much.” In an interview with the New York Times, Cyndi said she wished she was friends with Madonna, rather than rivals; “It was a shame. I would have liked to have a friend.” Despite having a much less provocative image than Madonna, fans would often confuse the pair and Cyndi admitted that there were times that she didn't bother correcting them; "It happens to me once in a while. I just sign Madonna. I don't care and as long as I don't talk I get away with it." In the 80s, Cyndi Lauper was considered by the media as being a very eccentric artist with a powerful and distinctive four-octave singing range. Although Madonna was not considered to be as vocally gifted as Cyndi, she was viewed as being less eccentric, more sexually provocative, and commercially savvy. At some point, Madonna's career began taking off, but Cyndi stopped selling as many albums and having as many hits. Yet despite this, Cyndi Lauper went on to have an iconic, four-decade career, being awarded two Grammy awards, an Emmy for her guest appearance in 90s US sitcom "Mad About You", and a Tony award. She became the first woman to win a solo Tony for best score for the Broadway Musical "Kinky Boots", and is just an Oscar shy of an EGOT.
Cyndi not only embraced her innate weirdness, but shared it with all of us! She truly elevated quirkiness to an art form. You really need to hear her song, "I Drove All Night". Hauntingly beautiful!! It was originally written for and performed by Roy Orbison. He recorded it in 1987, and died the following year. Cyndi's version was released in 1989. Roy's version was finally released in 1992.
Cyndi not only wrote and performed great music records, but she also WON awards for her music in movies and on Broadway, show "Kinky Boots" was all her. She is still involved with writing for musicals on Broadway and highly respected.
Kinky boots was a great show!!!! I'm a conservative, but I didn't feel like I was being bashed or attacked by the content as so many recent woke Broadway plays have done lately. I'd rewatch kinky boots any time.
They both were part of the NY music scene in the early 80s and exploded nationally. Madonna released Lucky Star in 83. It wasn't until her appearance on American Bandstsnd in 84 that she hit it big. Cyndi released Girls wanna have Fun in 83. MTV catapulted her career
If you really want to hear how well she sings listen to her recording of At Last. Also she has a documentary of her life on Netflix that is called Let The Canary Sing. It’s really good. I saw her open for Cher in concert and she was incredible. She’s 70 now and looks amazing. She is a wonderful person!❤
Cindi not only has won Grammys for her songwriting, she won a Tony Award for writing the lyrics and music for the Broadway musical version of Kinkyboots. (She also got an Emmy for her acting!) She is in the Songwriting Hall of Fame. And her "style" is clearly her own (the early style of both CIndi and Madona was one prevelent in the East Village and Alphabet City neighborhoods of New York CIty at the time), not one manufactured by record executives!
Cyndi Lauper is still writing music. Currently working on a Broadway play. What u see on screen is who she is. Record labels have tried to change her music/image. She just said no. She is very talented and still looks amazing for 71.
I love this song and video! Cyndi is an exceptional singer/songwriter and her voice is top tier! Her whole debut album (which this song is from), She’s So Unusual, is amazing! That’s her real mom and real boyfriend (then) in the video! I still have it on vinyl and I play it all the time!❤❤
Cyndi Lauper and Madonna released songs in the same year. They both had their own styles...which were definitely different from what everyone else was wearing. Cyndi won the Best New Artist Grammy, beating out Madonna. Madonna has had more hits (she co-wrote most of her songs, just like Cyndi).....but Cyndi has branched out and has won an Emmy and a Tony Award. I never thought their music was similar - just original and distinctively their own. I loved them both for what they were sharing with us.
She is a legend❤Cyndi Lauper is a true American original!! A real artist. She looked like no one else, she sounded like no one else. She writes and performs her own music and does not care what the record labels think she should be. She has sold over 50 million albums. Her memoir is on of the best books I have read in a very long time. She still out there touring and sounds great.
Since this song came out Cyndi has had an acting career, starring in the hit show bones, she played the part as of a clairvoyant, when the two main characters got married, she sang a song called at last. It is a cover, but her voice is so amazing, could you please react to it.
I am 51 and an Australian and Cyndi Lauper was massive in this country in someways many of her songs were bigger than Madonna not all but some. Girls just wanna have fun, time after time, true colours what definitely her top three hits in Australia the best part about being a 51-year-old is that I was in MY mid to late teens when her music was charting and she was considered an icon both in music and fashion. I think she was one of the most beautiful singers of all time. There was so many music magazines in the 80s and all of them had pull out posters either single page or centrefold and sometimes the centrefolds would fold out to be eight times bigger than the magazine and would be a full-size wall poster and I had so many Cyndi Lauper posters on my walls, I lost count. Thank you again for sharing her music.
I just love Cyndi Lauper. I wore out her Greatest Hits cd. One of my favorite songs is, "I Drove All Night". It is so powerful, and Celine Dion also did a remake. Perfect song for their amazing voices.
Girls Just Want to Have Fun has always been special to me. It is such an uplifting song by Cyndi Lauper who emerged with her debut album a little later (Oct) in the same year as Madonna (July) in 1983. This is a beautiful song too.

This song is such a tear jerker. Cyndi Lauper is such a talent. That is all Cyndi. You are correct about the manifesting. Like if you keep thinking I'll never do this or that, you won't. You have to say I am this or that like you've already done it and you will manifest it. Humans are more powerful than we know.
@BlackPegasusRaps When comparing Cindy and Madonna, , Cindy was more edgy and punk influenced (like Debbie Harris from Blondie), had a better voice, and wrote her own material. Madonna was very poppy at first and then became more and more "shocking" over time. To see the evolution, watch Papa Don't Preach (1986), Just Like a Prayer (1989), and Justify My Love (1990), Erotica (1992). Cindy had an edge from the start, as one can see in Money Changes Everything, and Change of Heart (among others). She also did a GREAT cover of Prince's When You Were Mine.

Miles Davis recorded an instrumental version of “Time After Time” on his 1985 album You’re Under Arrest. He loved the song so much, in fact, that he included it in virtually all of his live sets for the rest of his life. Btw, Cam’ron raps over a “Time After Time” sample on his 2017 track “Dime After Dime.”
I was 17 and leaving the life I’d known for the last 4 years when this song hit the charts… my dad was military and we were leaving Japan between my junior and senior years. This song always makes me think of that summer of transition.. and all the friends (and girlfriend) that I left behind
Madonna released her self-titled album in 1983 and this album came out shortly after the same year. Both were making a huge impact on the music scene. Madonna's sexual, "Boy Toy" look was far different from Cyndi's unique look, but both were strong women that showed girls that they could control their own futures. Both albums blew up. The album SHE'S SO UNUSUAL by Cyndi sold 7 million albums with this hit reaching #1 on Billboard, but also "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "Money Changes Everything", "She Bop" and this one. Madonna had hits - "Burning Up", "Holiday" "Borderline" "Everybody" and "Lucky Star". None went #1 but a few did make the top 10. Both artists were played heavily on MTV and their styles, images and sound were hugely popular. Girls in school either dressed like Cyndi or they dressed like Madonna. It was a fashion show back in the day.
I was having breakfast at a restaurant yesterday & they said on the radio that Cyndi is on her retirement tour. She's having a concert at a Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida November 8, which is my area
It IS possible to love them both, which I do. There’s quite a lot of Madonna that is iconic and mandatory 80s Ang 90s viewing and her videos are fire. Please keep reacting to both.
Along with my other comments, this song makes me nostalgic for the 80's, a time when I wasn't even an idea. It also makes me tear up because I interpret this as a song as drifting away from what I/we used to be. My childhood is so important to me so I never want to forget where I came from.
Black Pegagsus, I so enjoy your reactions to all the various artists you reveal to yourself in front of your audience. Cyndi is one of my girls from the 80's through today, I cannot praise her enough. I especially like when you cover one of my favorites such as Ms. Lauper and share your thoughts given your musical background of Rap. Reminds me of when Gene Simmons of Kiss said 'I Love The Bee Gees!' Musicians and audiences creating their own melting pots with with one listen of another genre. In closing 😉, I've told a lot of people about you and cast. ONE MORE THING...Please please please treat yourself and your ears to Cyndi's "I'm Gonna Be Strong" from when she was in the band Blue Angel, you will be moved as well as impressed. Soak into her lower register. I'd be excited to see, hear and watch your reaction. Pease to you.
Cindy & Cher are good friends & toured together. Cindy is 71 & has been active since 1977. Madonna is 65 & has been active since 1979. , Lauper said, “Nah. I didn't think she (Madonna) liked me that much.” Cindy made it a point to distinguish herself from the Madonna. They both had blond hair in the '80s.
You should listen to Cyndi singing I'm gunna be strong. Before her solo career she was in a punk rock a billy band called Blue Angel and they recorded a self titled album ( Which I still have). I'm gunna be strong shows off her vocal talent and range, Cyndi is a crazy good vocalist that many underestimate.
It was the era. Brings back a lot of great memories of my youth. All those performers always hanging out and performing in the same clubs in NYC. Danceteria, CBGB, The Garage etc. Hanging in the the clubs and bars in the Village. I was mostly into R&B and NY puertorican freestyle music but open to all the other genres. Weird I never noticed any similarity between Cyndi and Madonna and still don’t see it.
I love this song! I have seen this video many times but my mom died in November and seeing the vision of her mom in the doorway made me bust into tears! Both of my parents are now gone and I guess there is even a deeper meaning to this song for me now.
At your 9:57, she's singing Time after time, and tapping her fingers into her palm -- that's the American Sign Language sign for 'repeat' or "again". She's signing, "again and again." Very cool she slipped that into the song.
"ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT" is one of my favorite by Cindi! It showcases the versatility of her amazing voice. I hope you react to it because you will love it, I guarantee it! 🔥🔥
Cyndi and Madonna were popular at the same time. I remember when I was a kid loving them both. I even dressed up as Cyndi for Halloween when I was only 5 years old! My favorite song of hers, True Colors, was released on my 6th birthday! I was obsessed! I watched music videos more than I watched cartoons when I was a kid. haha Cyndi is the best
People here seem to be claiming that Cyndi wrote all of her hits while Madonna wrote none of hers. But both have their fair share of hits that they wrote/co-wrote or was given by others. For example; Cyndi didn't have a hand in writing "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "All Through the Night", & "True Colors"; while Madonna was involved w/ "Lucky Star", "Papa Don't Preach", & "Express Yourself".
You can see ex-professional wrestler/manager "Captain Lou Albano" working behind the counter in the diner briefly in this video. He also appeared in other Cyndi Lauper videos like "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and "She Bop". RIP Lou!
The two of them became huge at the same time - each breaking rules, each in a very different way. Both really appealing to 13 year old girls. Both of them started hitting the charts hard. Cindi broke the rules. When her manager wanted her to break contract with nearly a years' worth of engagements so he could book her in big places instead, she refused. She insisted on playing her contracts with all of the small spots that had supported her and got her started. To her, it was fair that they should get the benefit of her new stardom. BUT. The price was that she didn't take advantage of the surge, and never really recaptured the lift. No way of knowing for sure if she'd done the big gigs how it might have played out... but that was the story at the time. She says she's retiring soon. (And yes, she created her image just as Chinchilla has created hers).
She's So Unusual, is a fantastic album, with 4 songs the made the US top 5 (Time After Time, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, All Through the Night & She Bop). Also a cover of a Prince song, When You Were Mine.
If you want to hear some STUNNING vocals from Cyndi Lauper check out her LIVE performance of I'm Going to Be Strong on The Mary Tyler Tribute Show from 2001. I was familiar with her hits but had never heard her sing like that!
Such a fine vibe, the lyrics, the music, everything about this song is wonderful.... And too it can definitely help you deal with relationships and keep you true to them and your own self and integrity. I have so loved this song always and always,' time after time!'
This song came out at the time Cyndi was involved with WWE's Rock and wrestling storyline... at 4:22 the cook in the diner was Captain Lou Albano a wrestler/manager in WWE, he was also her father in the Girls just want to have fun video
Cyndi Lauper, at 70, is having her final, farewell tour! And expect her second Broadway Show in about two years. Saw Cyndi Lauper open for Tina Turner in the late 90s in Ottawa...11th row centre/aisle. She was pregnant as a HOUSE! Of course she was mind-blowingly good!! And hilarious!! I'd suggest "You Don't Know" from her Sisters of Avalon album.
In the late 1980's; I attended 7 different high schools in three separate states. My life felt like a break-up song and this was the song I went to the most.
It's a tough thing about life. You grow. And you have to leave the past behind. To all those friends that peeled off, succumbed, gave in or gave up. Who had no chance or no choice, who started from way behind or got passed by, who life gave too much to, or not enough...
Songs debuted on MTV first if I remember correctly. Then radio play tracked the charts...and concerts. I won concert tickets on the radio to a Lionel Richie concert and later a Stevie Nicks concert. Miss those days. Everything is so one dimensional in concept now.
Cindi is awesome. She had her own style. I loved that. I did to back then. I made my own style I still do. lol. She wrote her own music. I liked Madonna's earlier music. The 80's left a imprint on me. I see the newer kids loving the music. Especially if they are musicians. I encourage them. You know have a point. You would have to stay positive & not attract negativity. You could manifest heartbreak for yourself.
Both Cyndi Lauper & Madonna are music & fashion icons in their own way. As a quirky, thrift shop girl who loved vintage clothing, I always related to Cyndi Lauper more. I would definitely recommend "True Colors" for your next Cyndi Lauper song. It truly showcases her vocal abilities. And if you are looking for a song that showcases Madonna's vocal abilities, my favorite is "Love Don't Live Here Anymore".

Speaking of the Hooters, Bruh, you need to review “And We Danced”. It is a fire and a banger of a song
“Day by Day” is a great song by The Hooters.
Cyndi Lauper is an amazing woman. Wonderful talent as a singer and a writer and a beautifully thoughtful person who never forgot where she came from.
Lauper’s “She’s So Unusual” boasted the hit singles “Time After Time,” “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” and “All Through the Night,” while Madonna’s eponymous album included “Holiday,” “Lucky Star” and “Borderline.”
Cyndi revealed in a recent interview that her record company had tried to compare her with Madonna, which Cyndi heavily resisted; "As if you could only have one woman who is successful. What the hell is that about? That woman’s been entertaining us for years. She’s made great pop songs. I want to be competitive, but not pitted against another woman. I’m not into that."
Cyndi also explained how she made it a point to distinguish herself from Madonna when they both had blond hair during the 80s; “I said, ‘OK, doll, I’ll just put a black spot here, so they know the difference between the two of us." When recently asked if she ever spoke to Madonna about their dynamic, Lauper said, “Nah. I didn’t think she liked me that much.” In an interview with the New York Times, Cyndi said she wished she was friends with Madonna, rather than rivals; “It was a shame. I would have liked to have a friend.”
Despite having a much less provocative image than Madonna, fans would often confuse the pair and Cyndi admitted that there were times that she didn't bother correcting them; "It happens to me once in a while. I just sign Madonna. I don't care and as long as I don't talk I get away with it."
In the 80s, Cyndi Lauper was considered by the media as being a very eccentric artist with a powerful and distinctive four-octave singing range.
I'm 60 always like cyndi better than Madonna still do.😊
All through the night and she bop
Cyndi not only embraced her innate weirdness, but shared it with all of us! She truly elevated quirkiness to an art form. You really need to hear her song, "I Drove All Night". Hauntingly beautiful!! It was originally written for and performed by Roy Orbison. He recorded it in 1987, and died the following year. Cyndi's version was released in 1989. Roy's version was finally released in 1992.
That song still makes me cry after all these years.
That Dog she's holding is 'Nipper', the RCA Recording's mascot/logo.
Yes, she’s one award away from being an EGOT! All she needs is an Oscar!😃❤
40+yrs later and her live voice is still outstanding!
She has so many great songs. “True colours “ and “All through the night” are awesome. 😊
They both were part of the NY music scene in the early 80s and exploded nationally. Madonna released Lucky Star in 83. It wasn't until her appearance on American Bandstsnd in 84 that she hit it big. Cyndi released Girls wanna have Fun in 83. MTV catapulted her career
Madonna is originally from Detroit
@@W4ll_fl0w3r that's not what I said. Yes she's from Detroit but she got her musical start in NYC. She came out of the NYC music scene
Actually Madonna was born in Bay City mich and grew up in Rochester Mi, outside of Detriot
And don’t forget, she also won an Emmy award for her acting! She’s one award away from being an EGOT!❤😃
Cyndi Lauper is still writing music. Currently working on a Broadway play. What u see on screen is who she is. Record labels have tried to change her music/image. She just said no. She is very talented and still looks amazing for 71.
She won a Tony award for writing the music for “Kinky Boots”!❤😃
" Money Changes Everything " and " True Colors ". Cindy is starting her farewell tour. Bravo Cindy we❤you.
She was so adorable. Childhood crush.
"Am I tripping"? Youre always tripping😊❤hahaha
Love True Colors
Cindy Lauper has (still has) a beautiful, powerful voice. Superb artist.
So many artist emerged in the early 80s it would blow your mind. You could literally hear new songs every week on America's Top 100 countdown !
Since this song came out Cyndi has had an acting career, starring in the hit show bones, she played the part as of a clairvoyant, when the two main characters got married, she sang a song called at last. It is a cover, but her voice is so amazing, could you please react to it.
Could not agree more
Her rendition of At Last on Bones is my favorite cover of that song. Also loved her recurring character on the show.
Her cover of At Last blew me away!
1990, you may not know about the impact of Unusual. The album dropped six Top 10 Billboard singles, of which four all made Billboard's Top 5 grouping.
I love Cyndi. She is real! Incredible authentic talent!
this song makes me cry every time I hear it. beautiful!
It’s about leaving someone you love but it’s not healthy!! It’s the right thing to do.. but you will never get over that love
She is holding The Victor Dog. Or "His Masters Voice" of Japan Victor Company (JVC) He is listening to his masters voice on a phonograph
Actually, the original Victor dog was with RCA Victor!
@@ronaldmcrae4896
The original painting was purchased from the artist (After painting over the original cylinder Phonograph with a modern flat-disc Gramophone) for use by the Gramophone Company in London. The inventor of the Gramophone himself Emile Berliner created Gramophone Company and also personally got Victor on as his US partner, allowing them to use the image stateside at the same time. Gramophone Company eventually spawned the HMV record label and the HMV music retail stores in the UK, also both using the logo. HMV still lives on to this day in the UK as the store, the HMV record label became EMI at some point though.
@@robertkeown2406 yes I know. I worked for JVC for 18 years. I own some Nippers. That was the dogs name Nipper because he nipped at the owners ankles
@@ronaldmcrae4896 after the bombing in Japan, Nipper the dog was the only thing left standing. The President vowed to rebuild it and the USA was never allowed to use Nipper again, to this day
She’s helping her boyfriend that is holding her back! She loves him so much that she will stay and help him! He’s holding her back but she will stay.,,
This song is such a tear jerker. Cyndi Lauper is such a talent. That is all Cyndi. You are correct about the manifesting. Like if you keep thinking I'll never do this or that, you won't. You have to say I am this or that like you've already done it and you will manifest it. Humans are more powerful than we know.
Madonna released her self titled album in July of 83 and Cyndi Lauper dropped She's So Unusual in October of 83
damn, that’s crazy close
Cyndi > Madonna
Cyndi is a phenomenal artist, however this song is just so greatly written.
She was one of a kind in her time. Cool to hang with too!
My favorite Cyndi Lauper song is "True Colors". It has very moving and beautiful lyrics.
The stuffed dog is Nipper - mascot of RCA VIctor records - from a painting depicting a dog listening to "His Master's Voice"* on a gramophone - cocked head "I hear him: where is he?"
*Title of the painting by Francis Barraud
Fell in love with Cyndi back in the 80s..never fell out. To thus dsy in my top 10. And im a punk and thrash guy...lol. ty man for this ☘️
She and Madonna came to prominence simultaneously, but Cindy’s vocal abilities are MUCH stronger.
Madonna singing is average at best
@ 💯
Miles Davis recorded an instrumental version of “Time After Time” on his 1985 album You’re Under Arrest. He loved the song so much, in fact, that he included it in virtually all of his live sets for the rest of his life.
Btw, Cam’ron raps over a “Time After Time” sample on his 2017 track “Dime After Dime.”
I saw Cyndi Lauper, she opened for Tina Turner in Albuquerque, New Mexico. GREAT CONCERT ❤!
Cyndi Lauper must be one of the most beautiful souls in music ever!
I was 17 and leaving the life I’d known for the last 4 years when this song hit the charts… my dad was military and we were leaving Japan between my junior and senior years.
This song always makes me think of that summer of transition.. and all the friends (and girlfriend) that I left behind
Both there voices are powerhouses they both had there own unique style
I love her! She wrote a book "Kinky Boots" and it was turned into a musical! So talented!
It IS possible to love them both, which I do. There’s quite a lot of Madonna that is iconic and mandatory 80s Ang 90s viewing and her videos are fire. Please keep reacting to both.
I love this song, it makes me cry 😢❤
"She bop" and "Hole in my heart" are great songs too by Cyndi Lauper.
So sorry for your loss.
Love her so much! Really takes me back.❤
You can see ex-professional wrestler/manager "Captain Lou Albano" working behind the counter in the diner briefly in this video. He also appeared in other Cyndi Lauper videos like "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and "She Bop". RIP Lou!
Goonies are forever too
The two of them became huge at the same time - each breaking rules, each in a very different way.
Love this song! Great artist ❤
You should check out Cyndi's "Money Changes Everything"....so much energy. Watch the live version.
The two lead singers for The Hooters wrote this song and sang backup.
True colors is a fantastic song which needs to be reacted to..she's not always silly. Lol
This is my favorite cyndi lauper song. Absolutely beautiful.
Voices Carry by 'Til Tuesday - the song was written for Cindi but eventually sung by Aimee Mann (the writer and lead singer/bass in the band).
Love this song. We need to see that reaction.
Back when MTV played music videos. The good old days. If you were not around for these days. I’m sorry for ya!!!
What WHAAAAAAAT!!!!
Definitely the good old days
I was born in '72... we were so excited when MTV debuted.
Songs debuted on MTV first if I remember correctly. Then radio play tracked the charts...and concerts. I won concert tickets on the radio to a Lionel Richie concert and later a Stevie Nicks concert. Miss those days. Everything is so one dimensional in concept now.
This is my favorite song of hers.
Cyndi Lauper was featured on PBS show "Finding Your Roots" and how her mom and family influenced her music career.
This song was written by the band the hooters. from Philadelphia covered it and it blew up

I am seeing her in concert next year in Brisbane Australia, yay
I absolutely love this song. I still listen to it on rotation to this day. I hear it at least twice a month.
My favorite Lauper song. ❤
Love her absolutely
I had forgotten about Capt Lou the wrestler being in her videos as the diner guy, and her dad in Girls just want to have fun. Such a cool time in entertainment when she appeared on WWF.
If I remember, this one was co-written with James Taylor. It all started with the phrase "suitcase of memories."
