When I was a kid a fully loaded car besides my Dad being in it was radio, heater, power steering and brakes. A/C and maybe electric windows. That's it.
I totally understand what you are saying and I remember also.. I was born in the forties in rural south Louisiana.. I remember when no one had air conditioner or a telephone.. I remember when the telephones came out they had a party line and you had to share the telephone line with five or six people.. nobody had air conditioner in their houses or their vehicles.. country life was so simple and relaxing back then.. everybody knew everybody and I cannot ever remember about any crime at all.. all the roads were gravel and when a car went down the road everyone knew who it was and where they were going and where they were coming from.. what happened to America and the world?

I remember when I was a kid, my parents owned a 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer. It was "very luxurious" for the time, and I always liked how big the third row was, along with the captain's chairs, an entertainment screen, (second row) and heated seats. Now 20 years later it seems all cars have those features.
I own a 1998 and it never breaks down! Super reliable and comfortable.
2012 no issues , hope to keep it 9 more years

My Uncle was saying an entry level engineering job at a local company was $25 dollars an hour 20 years ago, the same exact job at the company now pays like 32 bucks/hr. And this job is for a recent college grad with a 4 year degree and student loans to pay for. A young person can do everything 'right' and still be screwed over. Our society is pretty fucked at the moment.
Man, that truck is ridiculously nice. Scares me to death to think about any repair or troubleshooting bill, but wow, that thing is loaded. That moonroof is enormous.

It's something to keep under warranty, then trade. When this thing ages with all of that tech it is going to be a nightmare to keep running and the depreciation will be like a meteor coming down.
I’ve had both and the Escalade is much less troublesome. All luxury vehicles have problems but the Lincoln was ridiculous. It was the worst car I’ve had since my last Mercedes.

They never should have stopped making the Town Car with the bullet proof 4.6 V8. For their size, they got great mpg
I love the ride of a tow car. Like floating down the road. Very nice car.
We had them at the Limo company I work at. Good cars. 30 MPG highway is possible. We ran them to 400k+ miles, then sold them to a wholesaler who flipped them to his Client base in Egypt for $25,000.
Much better than the MKs they make now.

My 07 Navigator has 160K and I drive it like a hound. Never have had any issues with it

Recently purchased a 21’ Nav. 50% off original sticker price. No regrets. It will serve its purpose until the engine blows or transmission falls out.
My Lincoln is a beast and no problems at all over 100k and still speeding down the highway
My auto shop is doing really good right now with all these electronic repairs. It's a Non-Stop thing. Nothing but easy expensive work every day. We don't even do heavy line work anymore.
My '95 Grand Marquis has two armrests! Love them, especially after NOT writing a monthly check for an exorbitant car payment.
The complexity of today's vehicles are ridiculous.

Ha ha had my wife’s grandfathers 1989 for many years , it was our long trip vehicle , wish still had but it outlived it’s usefulness to use once had older kids
My dad got a 1984 Grand Marquis Colony Park in the late 80's, it was a great car.
He later sold it to a funeral company and it was turned into a hearse, haha

Owned several Lincoln’s, best vehicles ever owned. Now I have. 2019 Lincoln Continental black label.
The rides are sweet I hear. Tho the repairs are often and pricey? I loved my Volvo but too much breakdowns for me.

But its a Lincoln. This really isn't surprising. Much more affordable stuff at Ford and mainstream brands. Also these giant body on frame haulers never been affordable.

Most people who buy these make well into the six figures. Haven't sold a single one to anyone making less than 150k a year if it's brand new.
Just over a year ago, I purchased a 2014 Lincoln Navigator L 4WD in showroom condition with 66K miles for 1/5th of it's original sticker price. I have concerns with the extensive electronic systems on this vehicle, but it's nothing compared to the 2020 model. Gas mileage is terrible on the 5.4 V8 engine and I have concerns with the number of issues reported by people regarding this particular engine. Really enjoying the luxury and performance....at least for now. lol
How many mpg are you getting?
@@dannylay7965 About 14 mpg...mostly city driving. When regular gasoline here reached $2.00 per liter, I calculated that I was paying 50 cents per kilometer.

Wife been driving her Navigator for 20 years with not too many issues. Starting to fall apart. Going to pull the 32v engine and make it into a coffee table. Never seen so many moving parts.
Lincoln needs to bring back the Town Car and Mark 8 and Mark LT.
I absolutely 1000% loved my 2001 yukon xl. & wouldnt trade it for anything, but this interior is prob the best looking sub 100k suv i have ever sern
What other 100k+ suvs look better? German suvs?? Swede? They all have cramped interiors. No manufacturer comes close to large SUVs than GM or Ford.
Toyota sequoia felt off when I drove it, plus their color options suck.
If I’m spending hours inside something, it needs to be what I want, not just settle.

Navigator v8s are better
There are people out there that use this vehicle as their office as they are on the road all the time. There are others that travel or have large families that travel. I can see for them, this would be a perfect vehicle.
I love my 07 Lincoln MKX. Runs like a top at 155k miles

The regular non-turbo V6’s will last longer 😊

I drive for a limo company and they have AWD MKs. We push them out to 350k miles and more. BUT I can tell you they are expensive as all that stuff goes south. The touchscreen/touchpads will give out and you have to replace the whole console. Water pump is 12 hours labor. Transmission rebuild was $6k.
They're nice, but as a guy that drives them everyday, they're not for me. I have a 15 year Corolla 5-speed and I LOVE the simplicity of it!
2017 Chrysler 300 S with a V6. Only money I've had to spend on it is oil changes. Best car I've ever owned maintenance wise.
The fact that people are paying almost a hundred grand for a vehicle is insane to me. We're talking an American made luxury vehicle at that!
We just use our vehicles to get to point a to point b, why do we need all these electronics, it's just overkill, in my opinion.
Look up what a Range Rover or Gelandewagen costs.

Isn’t it just a eco boost with a 10 speed ? Don’t see how repairs are gonna be that crazy compared to any other vehicle Ford makes that shares the same engine and trans combo. It probably actually makes the parts cheaper having it be in so many vehicles.

I have owned plenty of Lincoln town cars and grand marquis’s. Now I own a 2019 Lincoln Continental. Best vehicle very owned. I switch to Lincoln and an accident in a Toyota that didn’t hold up and killed a friend.

I don't anticipate ever having to make the choice but I'd rather load up the family and boat or camper with that than a $100k luxury pickup that I'd be too worried about to use to haul lumber or tow equipment. 🤠.

So....Scotty, why is this a money pit? Buy it used, check the recalls and take care of it 🤔 Most modern cars are in great part computers with wheels now anyways. How would this make it anymore of a money pit ?
This suv is loaded and that means a few things. Loaded in options it is. Loaded with issues as it ages. And the owner of it was loaded with money but now is loaded with repair bills. Nice for the thrills it offers but I would never own one even if I had the money. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
I drive for a Limo company and we have Lincolns. (They're ok but I wouldn't want one) Here's the interesting thing... You go pick up a gazillionaire at his house: None of those guys have Lincolns or Caddys in their driveway. My God, what would the neighbors think.

My neighbor has a 2021 Navigator and it only has 15k miles on it and he’s so pissed because it’s been in the shop 12 times since he bought it new. Transmission issues, electrical problem, screen becoming unresponsive. That’s just a few of the issues.
Oh no, sorry to see this, we bought same year model, 2021, has 35000 miles on it so far nothing wrong with it,hopefully it’s no problem 😅

In Nov. I picked up a 2012 Toyota Highland and I'm very happy with it, it only had 133,000 miles n it and I got it at a good price.

I bought a F150 with the eco-boost and after spending a fortune to keep it on the road including issues with tons of water getting inside of the truck, and having a turbo go out at 83,000 miles I ended up dumping the truck and never looked back. Also, in town it got terrible gas mileage.

I just got a 2010 lincoln navigator with 43,000 miles on it, the lady who had it kept it in a air-conditioned garage and only drove it to carpool people to church on Sundays.
I'm only paying $15,000 with $2000 down at $360 a month, it even has a 2 year power train warranty.
My wife is convinced I got ripped off. I keep telling her that's what she payed for her 2016 toyota camry 2 years ago and THAT was a rip off.

I got a o4 expedition I paid $450 for it it got 4.6 and four speed trans it got 406 thousand miles on it I was going to take engine out put it in my f 150till I drove it wow nice ride and handling my opinion one of the better suv s

And in 2 yrs it will be worth $30k and starting to break down! Good luck with the repair bills! If I had the money, I wouldn't put that much on the road in a depreciating asset that's also costly to insure and maintain!

I drive a 2004 VW Jetta wagon with 400,000 kms on the odometer. Air still blows cold , original heater core and heated seats still work. Normally asperated 2.0 4 banger with 120 bhp and it has never broken down in 20 years . I dread the day i have to but another car😢.
Lincoln are a real sweet ride. Ill give them that. Owned an 06 LS with the jag motor. Quick car rear wheel drive and sporty four door. Only american car like it at the time

We drove to Texas in rented 2022 top of line Suburban and I am not going to say it wasn't nice. We have a 2013 Suburban LTZ extended and I have to say, the only two features I really missed when we turned the car was the bigger screen and the lane departure sensor (which was a tad annoying at times, but a nice safety feature). No way I am paying 100k for a car for a handful of bells and whistles. Most of the tech I could live without and it's just making vehicles too expensive.
The Ford Edge has a bigger sun roof available. Nice.

No no no no... try $4684.00 ! I owned the continental. The water pump failed , and it setup with the timing chain. What an unfortunate loss. I loved that car . But call me crazy , nothing rides like a lincoln. Extremely luxurious. Guys said they prefer it over a Benz. I love lincolns . 😅

On transverse engines yes. This one I believe is a exterior waterpump design.

Also curious how many miles did you get out of your Continental? Thanks if you can reply I'm highly considering maybe getting me a low mileage used 2019 or 2020 Continental. I have heard tons of great things about the MKZ & the reliability seems great on them, so I was thinking that the newer Continentals would be a better version of the MKZ. Or I would hope so anyways. I'm really interested in hearing ANY of the other issues you might have had with your Continental. Thank you & hope you reply in the best detail you can as a previous owner of one.
Are all of the current gen Lincoln’s unreliable ? We drove the Nautilus and Aviator they drove so nice. But very expensive

I originally started watching Scotty for the performance and the car info.
But now its a case study of the death of the legacy OEM.
For the original price , it should come with a mech droid like R2D2 to repair it along the way
It would be fun to see Scotty review and drive one of those little Honda Civics from the early 1970's
My first new car was an '81 Civic 1500DX hatchback - paid $7k for it; A/C, AM/FM stereo cassette, 5spd. Put 47k miles on it before first repair > dirt in carb needle& seat. Another 30k before I sold it for down payment on our first house in '85 ($49k for a 900sq.ft 3bdrm bungalow). New owner put 20k more before doing brakes, then another 30k before a clutch. Would still be driving it but Massachusetts winters rotted out the frame. Got 37mpg combined with no computer or EFI....wish I still had it😢
Those are now collectors cars.

I have to say you made me nervous when you were playing with the slippery wet adjustment and I was looking at that board fence on the right of the highway.. you were still playing with the adjustment and then the trees came up on the right of the highway and I really got nervous.. I know you are a good and careful driver but you need to realize that you are a national treasure and we cannot afford to have anything happen to you Scotty 😂

@@bernandoturner4840 The thought crossed my mind. It seems most of the big dealers around Tulsa a paying salaries for basic clerks instead of commissioned sale reps. I have been told that salary base is 38-45K a year…if you can last a year. I don’t know if any dealer is willing to put a guy on the floor for just a day or 2 per week. I hated missing family functions and working every Saturday without fail.
