No need for external processing, the M2 chip on the Vision Pro is way more than capable of driving the 4k micro-OLED displays. It has about 4x more processing power than the Snapdragon XR2 chip on the Quest 3, so yeah it does not need any external processor or gpu. It can absolutely do full VR games, they just didn't want to lead with that because the point is to introduce "spacial computing" paradigm and not being lumped into another "gaming VR headset". But the full VR games are for sure coming soon from developer ports.
steam link will be available for avp day one. you can stream your steam games so hopefully steam vr games as well. btw, the avp has a battery in the headset that lasts a few minutes when unplugged
Okay that's great to hear about Steam Link. Okay good, because I cant imagine they would overlook something like a battery within the headset, so you don't have to turn off the headset each time you want to change batteries.
No, there's no battery built in, just the corded one, so you'll have to leave that on charge (it has a charge port on the battery). Also they'll never do an addon GPU. Apple haven't shown any interest in supporting external GPUs on the M series Macs. Just a few short days to wait.
No battery within?? Not even a small one for when you want to swap external batteries and not turn the device off? Yeah, the external GPU idea felt like a stretch, but one can dream haha.
Can't justify the cost of buying one but looking forward to my in person demo to see what all the fuss is about :) I'm looking forward to experiencing the "magic" UI navigation.
I preordered and I mostly wanna see what it will be like as an external monitor(s) and I want to design my room with an overlay using the Vision Pro. bring a whole new meaning to the word wallpaper Can't wait till the 2nd.
"Gaming in VR isn't usually done that way". Actually having a 100"+ screen is a great way to game in VR especially if you don't have the space for a big TV or the big TV is in use. My friend actually uses his VR headset as a triple monitor set up without bezels. He got me to try it, but I liked traditional monitors more. There are a lot of experiences you will only be able to have with the vision pro from what I'm seeing outside of gaming. It's just too expensive and too niche for me. Apple is going to be Apple they aren't going to sell accessories to improve the experience. They can just sell you an new one with 25% better performance year after year 🤣🤣, I think for majority of people Meta Quest will be the better experience for a throw away VR product. $4000 needs to be something that you're going to use every day.
You are right, there is no "correct" way to game using a headset like this. I just wonder how deep Apple will go into the gaming rabbit hole. I absolutely love my Meta Quest 3, and as of right now I think I will still be using both headsets.
I think the possibilities are endless this is gonna change everything fr fr but only apples gonna be able to do it just look at how good vision is
I'm excited to see which route they go. You're right, who better than apple to push this tech forward.

Yep, you are better off keeping one battery topped off via a power bank if necessary
What are you most excited to do on the Apple Vision Pro?
Immersive live sports and live concerts & Immersive films & TV of all genres 😇
