Are you kidding me? I remeember the uproar on the part of some Afro-Jamaicans when a Chinese young woman was crowned Miss Jamaica. The poor young lady had to say that although of Chinese race, she didn't know anything about China and ate only Jamaican food, a defence she should not have been forced to take. All people arw capable of discrimination. It depends on who has the upper hand.
@@bernadettefarquhar1453 i also remember when a dark skinned Jamaican was crowned miss Jamaica and there was a big uproar among many Jamaican of all ethnicity. Jamaicans want to be labeled as Jamaicans first and foremost, before being label according to their ethnicity. And that is what set us apart from all other countries with race problems.
Great content. I wont be suprised if he is in his 70s. Like they say people who are more connected to nature have higher level of awareness and well being and have a better out look towards being satisfied with simple things in life. 💯
Non-Jamaicans find it hard to understand why Jamaicans are not used to racism. Kids notice differences and will tease each other: too tall, too short, too black, too white, Chinese etc. So teasing a Chinese classmate was about perceived differences and not racism. That was usually fleeting as well. I bet as they knew him he became accepted in the group. Very very different situation from racism in US and UK for example.
When I first went to the States, is realized the difference with my 20 year career as a Marine I had one roommate from California who was racist to black people and he was Hispanic; that I found strange out of all my experiences that was the moment my blinders were moved. But, 23 years later I am still with my Japanese wife and she loves my Jamaican culture and drive.
I just love that Jamaicans from whatever heritage, speak with the same variant of English. In fact, a major ancestor of the Jamaican accent is the English spoken in County Cork and County Kerry, Ireland.

The divide is along economic lines: classism, not racism. We don’t have that in Jamaica.
Classism is what is practiced in JA , but in the U S and European countries, Racism is what is practiced. Classism is the base from where Racism came,
