      Technically where I live we had around 9-10 weeks off, but the school district is shifting their school days, so we only had 8 weeks this summer, and that was torture! I feel bad for you, doing 6 weeks. :(

    Growing up in England, I never went trick or treating, my mum always forgot Easter and she doesn't like clutter around the house so Christmas is rather bare XD

    • @102fuzzbuzz
      @102fuzzbuzz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wow u just wrote my childhood, never went trick or treating my mum and dad would pretend we wasn't in so no one would come to the door, Easter always consisted of one chocolate egg from my mama and Christmas last year my mum was debating to even put the tree up if it wasn't for me being there and saying I will do it then we would of even had that, she hates the mess it makes, so I sat there one evening while my parents were at work putting the tree up all by myself such fun times 😭 lol

    Eid is a Muslim holiday and its amazing. It comes after an entire month of fasting and what it is , is basically three days of adults or older people giving you money (like a lot of money ) and eating and drinking until you get a food coma . Stay out until 2-4 in the morning , wake up late , go to parties which serve an enormous amount of food. Dress up in new clothes (it's a big thing to buy eid clothes ) .

    • @imcrazysosueme
      @imcrazysosueme 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Evan Edinger yeah, proper sports uniform unless we're participating, or we'd get in trouble. And not everyone can participate, so most of us just watch and cheer and wait for the house cup announcement

    • @imcrazysosueme
      @imcrazysosueme 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marianne Ciric it's still fun for us, because we get to sit in the ground all day and be as noisy as we want and cheer our friends on. And we get our house cup on sports day, and we may not do anything to earn house points, but we get super hyped for the results

    • @mariannec8109
      @mariannec8109 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh we have to participate in at least 3 events so no just doing nothing :P
      And all of them are super bad apart from the tug of war (which is literally 10mins maximum) and the people not doing the certain event have to sit on the ground about 50m from the actual thing so you cant even see!

    Did he just say Christmas isn't as big as Thanksgiving in America? That's not true at all for my family and most Americans I know. Christmas is HUGE here. I know different holidays are more important in different families, though.

    • @hannahsded413
      @hannahsded413 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the UK we normally get together with family and eat ourselves into a coma and watch Christmas TV all day

    • @kpredd13
      @kpredd13 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +gracieliz95 For some reason he has made himself the spokesperson for all of america, when he should just be saying 'a video of my experience vs someone else's' it aggravates me. Especially since not everyone in america even celebrates both of those holidays. Easter is biggest in my family, in others it is christmas, some it is hanukkah, etc. Christmas is much bigger here than Thanksgiving and you can judge based on the brakes we are given from school for them.

    • @cjlatinaj678
      @cjlatinaj678 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, I was like WTF! Christmas is the most popular holiday here. I always see Christmas stuff on display at stores during the summer time. We celebrate Christmas way longer than Thanksgiving. Christmas is month long celebration while Thanksgiving is like a week long celebration.

Most people watch big Ben count down and watch fireworks from other country's around the world. In my family we all go to someones house go to celebrate it.

    At midnight on New Year's where I live in Ireland, people go outside the front door and bang saucepans with wooden spoons. No idea why. Also the school priest would go round to every class on the morning of Ash Wednesday and draw crosses on everyone's foreheads with ash, and everyone just wandered round with massive grey crosses on their heads all day!

    • @frostfang1
      @frostfang1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, but I think the day is sometimes bigger, in the sense that you are more likely to spend the day feasting with extended family if you have it, than on Christmas.
      Christmas definitely had more hype to it, and you get more time off for it and new years, but I feel like people are more likely to keep the holiday between immediate family than Thanksgiving, but its different from family to family.

    In Scotland trick or treating is called guising where you had to perform a joke, song, or skit to earn your sweets.
    We have 2 weeks in October that used to be for young people to working in the fields called tattie howking but is now just another holiday.
    We also have Rabbie Burns' day on the 25th of January where we celebrate the poet Robert Burns by reciting his poems, wearing tartan, and eating haggis, neeps, and tatties.

    In my elementary school (in Canada) instead of sports day, we had fun day. It's basically where we got our faces painted, then spent the rest of the day playing games with the whole school, and eating freezies. We were also encouraged to wear the craziest summer clothing we had. It was amazing!

    Well, in the UK we have 'Bonfire Night' on the 5th of November, which we basically use as an excuse to gather around a huge fire and set off loads of fireworks, but it's actually based on a failed plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in the 1600s. At some bonfires we put a model of Guy Fawkes, the main dude behind the plot, on the fire. Fun for all the family!

  • @Cheeseanonioncrisps
    @Cheeseanonioncrisps 8 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Bonfire night is better than 4th July.😝
    Sorry, but why are you celebrating a document being signed with fireworks?
    We Brits, however, celebrate somebody trying to blow things up and how he got stopped and disembowelled. People blowing things up- that's something you have fireworks for! 🎇🎆

    • @seamus1965
      @seamus1965 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheeseanonioncrisps we celebrate the 4th of July because that’s when we signed a document kicking your English arses out of the thirteen colonies and declaring our Independence. Also Ben Franklin said it should be celebrated with fireworks so we do!! 😢🤣🤪 🇺🇸🎇🎆🇬🇧

    We have Sinterklaas in the Netherlands. It's about getting presents and Santa is actually based on Saint Nikolaas. We don't really celebrate Halloween but some people throw a house party for Halloween. We also celebrate the King's birthday. And a lot of fireworks are actually illegal here or at least illegal to fire(?) unless it's newyears or if it's a professional firework show.

    we eat food (we have 4 people in our family and we cook enough food to feed maybe 50 and we don't invite people over) until we all go into food comas, and then we watch christmas movies and put up our 10 foot tall tree with maybe 300 ornaments on it

    In our city (In Russia) except for Valentine's day we have another kinda.. celebration day at 14-th of February. It's basically a day when our city won?.. the nazis?... Basically weve stopped nazi occupation of our city in ww2 at that day and now every 14-th of February not only we have "love post" where we send cards to each other, but we also watch horrible world war 2 films to comemmorate the victory... And I think that's quite horrible tbh, because we're little kids... So every 14-th of February I really didnt wanna go to school because I knew what was gonna happen x)

Everyone gets off from school for a week or from Monday to Tuesday and we party like no tomorrow. We have parades from Friday night till Tuesday for the really big ones and maybe some small ones on Thursday.
