saul was chosen because of that conversation, but more important, it was the joke that made him the chosen one. the meaning behind that joke is the whole key to defeat the san-ti.
Don't forget there are only two Sophons. So when one is occupied drawing stuff one someone's retina, it's not spying on someone else or fiddling with accelerator results or traveling between these different theaters of operation. Light speed is fast but not instantaneous.
This series was perhaps the first time I've went out and bought/read the books and I was NOT disappointed, holy shit what an ending. Please read them and do another reaction to it!
Once you know what a sophon is, i feel like the illusions would be a lot less effective in making you crazy. They can only really startle you like they did with wade, otherwise you would just know that its a goofy illusion
This weird interactions of wallfacers and other people based on simple question, that people think about when talking with wallfacers "How do I know when your plan started?" People can't know if Soul is trying to give his position away or he is trying to conceil his plan
Sophon can't drive people crazy once they know that it is Sophon doing it. Besides, Sophons are too busy interfering large hadron colliders data results. As a book reader of all 3 books, there's no plot hole here. You read the first book, you should know what Sophon can and cannot do over people who only watched the show. Sophon cannot interact with the MACRO world unless they unfold into our dimension but then they are vulnerable to missile attack, which the aliens won't do except for shock and awe in Ep 5.
Ah good point about them not being able to drive people crazy when they know it's happening to them. Just to clarify, I haven't read any of the books. I've just seen the Tencent version of the show which from what I understand is a very faithful adaption.
It would be an interesting thought experiment to see if you could figure out Ye Wenjie's riddle. I think, technically, you have all of the pieces if you include both the text of her "joke" and retrace her actions right before she went to see Saul. I would be down to watch you review each of the books. It wouldn't have to be anything major, just give us your impressions. The audiobooks are a fine way to take in the story. They're perfect for dogwalking and such.

if u already know sophon behind this.. it won't make you crazy..
21:59 if he tells her his idea about what it means then it’s no longer a secret
The ending was not as satisfying as I hoped, but it's just because I have to wait the second season. I trust them to do a good job second season
Well theres not really an ending until the last book.
The sphons need a human to do anything physical.
I would be very interested in hearing your opinions after you read the books! Good stuff
