The point of the game was to find people who would empathise with the Shan-Ti. People who would would see it as good to help them. So a recruitment tool indeed. This is why Jin was suitable, while Rooney wasn't. We see throughout their playing the game, that Jin wanted to help the girl. That she had empathy for her plight. While Rooney called her "annoying." His lack of empathy for the Shan-Ti is why he was killed.

So, the San-Ti leave their homeplanet because their world is trapped in a three-body system, meaning they experience unpredictable extreme temperature (near)extinction-events constantly. They never are able to figure out how to solve the problem. And while they were able to survive (via dehydrating themselves), they want to avoid this kind of recurring world-ending cataclysm by- yes... Going to Earth, which is far far more stable (because we're a two-body system, Earth + Sun)

@@Choso_1084 I believe it is mostly caused by the mass distribution of the solar system, the Sun takes up something like 99.9% of the total mass of the whole system, so even if we put all planets together, they still could not be considered a significant body in the solar system.

The inspectors inability to see Rooney's murder while being riggt there in his field of view, and the mysterious womans ability to seem invisible is an excellent example of what is called Clark Tech. The concept was invented by Arther C. Clark, where by he posited that any sufficiently advanced technology would be indistinguishable from magic. So while what the San-Ti are doing may seelike magical, it is actually not, just technology so much more advanced than what we have that it might as well be magic. At least to us. But to the San-ti, it is as mundane as an iPhone is to us.

I was quite skeptical of this series because I am a huge book fan but even though they changed up the setting and characters I am confident they will relay the core story of the book which is the best you can hope for in an adaptation. I binged the whole thing and each episode got better and better.

The Chinese has a story where there used to be 10 suns in the world and the chaos they brought. There is also a real-life star system called Alpha Centauri with a potentially habitable planet with 3 suns. It's actually the closest known star system to ours. A lot of interesting ideas in this series.

What's more interesting is alpha centauri is 4 light years away.😂

Except, the Alpha Centauri system is stable. What we see as a single point of light approx. 4.25 light years away when looking in the direction of Alpha Centauri is, in fact, a pair of two stars much like our sun (Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman) orbiting each other in close proximity (varying distance of 11 AU to 36 AU) while a third much smaller and dimmer star called Proxima Centauri orbits this pair at a much larger distance (13,000 AU = 0.21 light years). And it is this third star not visible to the naked eye where exoplanets have been found.

Bro, I'm here to explain again, don't mind me being a bother, The Three-Body game portrays stages of the Three-Body civilization's history that are similar to those that existed in human history, such as the Middle Ages. There are popes and ancient philosophers and early scientists like Aristotle and Galileo. In this stage, someone stepped forward to reveal the true situation of their galaxy, which is three suns. This is the mathematical or physical three-body problem, which discusses the motion of three equally-massed objects under each other's gravitational influence. This problem seems simple, but even with our current supercomputers, we can't find a solution. This means that the aliens living in the Three-Body world cannot predict when the sun will rise or set. This is also the reason for the repeated destruction of their civilization. After a civilization is destroyed, it takes a long time for a new civilization to emerge. The existence of human column computers indicates that the physiological structure of the Three-Body people is completely different from ours. In their history, they also experienced a vast empire with a population of 30 million. There were also individuals who proposed mechanical laws, calculus, and models of early computers like Newton and von Neumann. The human column computer is indeed faster and more accurate than manual calculations, but the Three-Body civilization at that historical stage could not recognize the unpredictability of chaotic systems. It took the 30 million people 16 full months of labor to predict the sun's motion for the next two years. The series does not present the long process and the losses caused to the empire. Their last entry into the Three-Body game had already entered the information age, historical figures like Einstein appeared, and supercomputers were available, but still, no result could be obtained. Then, a situation occurred where three suns moved toward their planet together, tearing the planet apart. The destruction was so severe that the Three-Body civilization realized that calculations would not yield results and decided to set sail. One thousand ships are currently on their way to Earth. This exploration process is lengthy in the book, but the series rushes through it in just one episode, which is too hasty.

As for Evans, in the original novel, he communicates with the extraterrestrial civilization through quantum entanglement, which allows information to be transmitted faster than the speed of light, enabling real-time communication across light-years. Evans' communication with the Three-Body civilization is similar to the countdown displayed in front of him, with subtitles presented before his eyes, and he responds by speaking. However, in the series, this is changed to the AI voice reading out the subtitles, which indeed makes it more convenient for the viewers. The gap between the Three-Body civilization and Earth civilization is immense, and there are some Earth literature and materials that they cannot comprehend at all. Evans starts by explaining to the Three-Body people from the most basic fairy tales.

My favourite episode so far (finished 5 episodes by now). The whole game concept is so cool. 3body people are luring them to help solve their problems which unfortunately they can’t. I just don’t know how would they defend theirselves from these 3body people. Guess I will get answers before you do. 😊
