The Wallfacer concept is one of the most interesting concepts I've read in science fiction. Just a bunch of people trying to play poker with aliens that can't read tells. You're going to love season 2 when it comes out, book 2 is wild.
Ye Wenjie's cryptic joke about Einstein & God got the target on Saul's back. Trisolarans/Santi were observing them & everyone through sophons the whole time. They don't get the context of the joke but they understand something important was conveyed between them. Even though Saul didn't get the joke, they fear that he might be able to figure something out in future. That is the reason they want to eliminate him and he got elected as Wallfacer in the last moment... Season 2 will get even more insane!! 😁
@TommyDay-kq1jj Can't give away without giving away much spoilers... The concepts and ideas get even more insane in book 2. Let's just say Ye Wenjie's conversation about why "you shouldn't play with God" will definitely have answers and resonate throughout the season. Also much of the chunk of book 2 is about how humanity will deter the incoming threat and go into interstellar war. There will be some really unexpected jaw-dropping stuff. The author really puts some convincing and mind boggling answers to some of the bigger questions like, if aliens exist then where are they and about the idea of universe itself...
Wallfacer Project: "They (San Ti) can't counter our strategy because they don't know our strategy. They don't know our strategy because we (most of humanity) don't know our strategy."
The best way to explain the plan thing is that they have access to anything. They can move around resources and everything long before its needed without having to say the reasons so the Santi dont know but also not us. They can basically have all the pieces in their hands but wont put it together until they are ready to use it.
one of my favorites parts is that in this show (and in the books), they will try LOTS of things. And just as in real-life, things will fail ALOT. The staircase project was almost always going to have a small percent chance of success and it failing to go through all of the steps is normal. Usually a lot of stories have the heroes pick the optimum or best solution or get it right on their first try but in reality it is a LOT of failing but perseverance to keep going.
It's not the first nor the only to do it but, yeah, humanity and people failing regularly was one of my favorite parts, as well. I also really like the ebb and flow of who has the upper hand with the humans and the trisolorans over the hundreds of years.
Dr. Ye talking to Saul put a target on his back. She gave him the answer on how to communicate while the San-Toi listens. Use inside jokes and such because they have no basis for understanding. When Saul gets serious and starts to care and focus, he will be smart enough to figure it out.
@@SurrealNirvana Definitely what she hints at with Saul (Luo Ji) in the books. But seemed to me she more or less was just telling Saul they can’t understand what we think. Which is also weird to me considering the San-Ti want him killed over this when Wade figured it out himself before this happened, and they don’t want him dead. Can someone explain this to me, though? Really don’t understand why they didn’t keep the conversation from the books where Wenjie hints at the Dark Forest; which is the main reason Saul (Luo) is the target. I’m guessing they’re just going to have Saul figure out the Dark Forest on his own? But even if he does, still, what was the point of Winjie only telling him they can’t see our thoughts when that was already established and why would he be the only target if everyone in the wallfacer project knew this? Am I missing something?
were talking about a wallfacer though. You don't think they had personal FBI agents and what not hiding near Saul at all times? Saul will never be alone ever again. I bet his local neighbors will be replaced by agents lol.

We make things for people alive now. Sheera: true. The difference in treatment 😥. That was a nice connection between Auggie and Saul though. Wonder how they're relationship will progress.
It’s in the way each carried out their actions. Saul doesn’t care but he also doesn’t have this holier than thou attitude because he could pretty much do nothing about it, he’s just annoyed at how people are hysterical over the problem. Auggie on the other hand, is so up her ahh about it. She actually has the brains and capacity to push the advancement of science to fight the aliens but she thinks everyone else is stupid for not focusing on the problems of the present people.
@@jeffbachman2949It's not. People find her annoying mostly because she slanders other characters who are doing the things they must to save the planet while Saul is just chilling. I actually doubt that most people find her annoying because she doesn't want to help the future, but probably dislike her for acting morally superior than other people who are doing what they can to protect the future

As a book reader, I gotta say that I really like Raj. Fellow readers can probably guess why but I thought he was really reasonable all season, he's got a hint of something deeper and maybe darker inside, and he's one of the only characters whose family we saw. I liked his dad too, I imagine that war story he shared is just a hint of what this war against the San Ti will look like.
But overall the concept of this show is just so cool to me, the idea of an alien invasion story where you don't actually meet the aliens is pretty rare. Contact is another example I suppose although that plays out totally differently.
@@cthulhuwu_ i think it was a really good start for a first season. Small correction we did meet Da Shi or Clarence family he has a son and we got one scene with some of Will family

This is definitely one of the most thought provoking invasion stories. How would our world prepare for a hostile alien race that can see everything on the planet but won't arrive for 400 years.
They're not just watching, they actively sabotage us, screw with the science and our brain. They didn't stop with the countdowns and attacking scientists and such. So I agree, this is an extremely interesting thought experiment.

I know the show sorta slowed down after the 5th episode but pls continue to watch it if they drop season 2 and 3. All the events of the first book, on which the first season is based on, basically already happen in episode 4 and 5, the last 3 episodes only sorta lay the ground for whats to come in the next 2 seasons...
It never slowed. 6-8 was just a great build up to the next season that takes some very important things from the third book. I find episode 8 as the best episode this season
If you guys found Will's launch cool, I'd recommend checking out "For All Mankind". It's set in an alternate reality where the soviets landed on the moon first and the space race never died off
Already read them a few years ago. I'm telling you, all you've seen in season 1 is just a small introduction, what happens next is gonna fuck your brain and expand your view of the universe!
To compare, a lot of the people who think the second book is the greatest scifi of all time, will also tell you they didn’t even care much for the first book which is what most of this season is based off of. If you extrapolate that to this season being great, the second season is going to be some of the craziest TV of all time.
The real reason that they made him a wallfacer is that he talked that Chinese woman before she died and she gave him a hint how to defeat the aliens that is why the san ti wants to kill him
Spoilers: the way to defeat san ti is simple black mail technique threatening them that we will reveal our location of earth to other superior aliens that are advance than san ti so we will both lose
Can u imagine the brain float because of the extra 16mg caused it ?In high speed with the extra weight make the certain edge broken they miscount the force
I've heard the next books/arcs are even better. So, there's a lot of hate on the Netflix series, if you say you like this series, some crazy people will respond to you "The chinesse version is much better" etc. Ngl. i don't care if the asian version is better (and more truthful to source material), i prefer american/european production over asian, and i haven't seen a thing, this series was lacking. If they keep the same quality/directing for the next seasons, it should be one of the best series again, next to GoT (in different genre though).
By the end of the series they were introducing concepts that broke my brain like the original universe was 10dimensional and collapses because of the destructive nature of life
The tencent version wasn’t even good. Bad cinematography, horrible cgi, massively padded runtime filled with recaps, some acting was good and some acting was horrible. Also they censored the cultural revolution stuff because CCP.
@@sawcery587 Yeah, i once checked somewhere in internet an episode of the Tencent version, and i saw some literal Aliens xD They looked like some sort of E.T.

Some of the most acclaimed moments and episodes from GOT is stuff they came up with. Some absolutely incredible moments from the start of that show are stuff they came up with. They absolutely can come up with great stuff. I read their novels to and all of them I think are fantastic
It's great that they go into concepts in the next book but the problem here is that you're left hanging for months until season 2 comes out. And then there's always the risk that something goes wrong and we don't get season 2.
the showrunners never wanted 5 seasons. Here's a quote from one of them a month ago "either 3 or 4 seasons or maybe 3 seasons with maybe an extended 3rd season we haven't figured out that completely yet" that was around the time the show came out. They have been saying 3 or 4 since the show came out.
Blame the guys that directed and wrote this show (the dudes who directed Game of Thrones). The characters in the books (except the last Protagonist in the final book) aren't near as dumb as anyone in this show. They really just dumbed these characters and some of the themes down so casual viewers can watch it without having to actually think about what's going on.
@brayerkh hard disagree they improved the characters imo. The books have great ideas but the characters for the most part are extremely flat and all talk like robots with zero human emotions. The show actually made them feel like humans and also almost all the stuff that happens in this show happens in the books. Some of it is shifted around and characters are added or changed but the plot is basically the same. I think they did a really great job with the show and added some human emotions to the core of the characters that I found severely lacking in many of the book characters. They also got rid of some of the weird underlying sexism that seems to run through the books.
I don't think they're I like that they're still humans and even made some mistakes. I saw many actual scientists praising this show for having scientists act like humans with all the messy human emotions and even mistakes that so many shows fail to do and seem to always reduce them to someone in a lab coat that's super smart about everything
@@jeffbachman2949 They're definitely more flat in the books, I agree there. But they most definitely dumbed down how the scientists in the books think and speak. I mean, they kind of have to dumb them down a bit too be fair, at least if they want casual viewers to watch who wouldn't necessarily read a sci-fi series with ideas like Remembrance of Earth's Past. I also heard that the translation from Chinese to English also plays a large part in why the characters are so flat. But still, some of the shit they say and do is just absolutely stupid. Like how Raj in the show (who I assume is the show version of Zhang Beihai) doesn't know how to open Wade Wilson's window. Then Wade just unlocks it like any normal window to open it. I was literally on the floor laughing my ass off at how dumb that scene was.
@brayerkh hard disagree I loved that scene. Raj thought it was a test and it wasn't Wade literally just wanted to open the window. I thought that scene was funny. I just disagree I think these characters feel much more fleshed out and human than 90% of the book characters. Many scientist said they way these characters speak is much more realistic they speak like a group of friends and speak like humans and yes scientists do curse. In the books I found myself many times thinking who actually talks like this? A very common criticism of these books is the characters and the way they speak and have almost no emotions

THE SECRETARY GENERAL IS THE VOICE OF AMANDA WALLER! I had to share that. I got so hyped when I saw her
“I’m not a wall facer I turned it down.”
Okay guys hear that? He’s NOT a wall facer *wink*
glad im watching this show through reactions 😂. appreciate yall.
I enjoyed the series too. I really hope they get a 3rd season because "Death's End" the third book in the trilogy is trippy af.
Relax dude. Maybe watch the actual video next time and see that they said they are ready for season 2 lol.
It never slowed. 6-8 was just a great build up to the next season that takes some very important things from the third book.
I find episode 8 as the best episode this season
There's a bunch of nukes floating in space now
I saw a really unique animated show on HBO max called scavengers reign, i recommend it I believe on the first episode yall will be hooked
Haven't seen it myself but from the bit I've seen and heard it seems like one of the greatest scifi shows of this century
It’s on Netflix now!
If you guys found Will's launch cool, I'd recommend checking out "For All Mankind". It's set in an alternate reality where the soviets landed on the moon first and the space race never died off
It really falls off after season 2 tho imo
RIP Benny The Comicstorian, youtube og and solid ass guy

@JC-wm1uw yeah man his wife just broke the news on socials a few hrs ago. Some kind of accident this past weekend
@@nobodyexceptme7794 wth RIP Benny :(
Sooo…Who’s reading the books?
Or who wants to read them?
i already did read them and im telling you, season 2 and 3 are gonna be pretty wild lol
Just finished them like 3 weeks ago and i still cant stop thinking about them. Fucking Space sociology.....
@@jaredf6205 i agreed with you. Im only a bit worried about season 3. Just because of how hard that's going to be to visualize...
I have all the audiobooks on reserve at my library.
I think the satellite went of course (broke a bolt) because of the extra added weight from the seeds saddly.
@YaboiRoshi i dont know if you guys have a lot to see but i have a suggestion. Kabaneri of Iron Fortress.
Sophon can go in the rocket, calculate the trajectory, then send a probe to meet it on the way
7:31 everything she just said sounds hella familiar. 🤧😂😂
@@damodaralluri8988wow 😮
@@damodaralluri8988Will Saul eventually get the joke?(assuming that you read the book)
Maybe they made them see that the craft with the brain went off course.
What if....Will us brought back by another extraterrestrial race and figures out how to stop the San-Ti?
love it!
Dang why is Link click just Friday only?????
So is season 2 going to be a timeskip? Or will a 200+ yr timeskip happen in season 3.
There is a time skip. Which is absolutely insane. Book 2 is crazy....
My guess is you might see a little of modern time in the beginning but I think there will be a time skip for most of the next season
Can u imagine the brain float because of the extra 16mg caused it ?In high speed with the extra weight make the certain edge broken they miscount the force
who else saw the nanasail unfold and thought orgalorg
Book reader yes this version changed some things but I thought it was better than the Chinese series
cant w8 for season 2
This is the way the books ends. Roshi was right. I'm gonna go read the sequel first though.
if 5 mill twinkies are needed then 5 mill people will be forced to make 1 twinkie each. It's as simple as that
Am I the only one who feels like the wire coming lose was done by someone intentionally
Don't you dare envoke Thomas Shelby's name or ROBO CAMPBELL is gonna rise from the dead and take over this show man
Awesome
Those are F35s
As in the most expensive fighter aircraft to own and operate in the world. 6 of them in escort costs a million an hour of flight time.
wall
would you say that mister beast is already working in the capacity and budget of a wallfacer?
Spoiler 🌟
Staircase project will be a crucial part of Humanity's survival. (Death's End)
guess now saul's gonna be an unreliable narrator....
Aliens - 1

I really like this show.....but it's not for everyone😊
Taco
this just prove that DnD good at adaptation, but horrible at make shit up
Some of the most acclaimed moments and episodes from GOT is stuff they came up with. Some absolutely incredible moments from the start of that show are stuff they came up with. They absolutely can come up with great stuff. I read their novels to and all of them I think are fantastic
It’s based off a book but this show takes a lot of creative liberties
It's great that they go into concepts in the next book but the problem here is that you're left hanging for months until season 2 comes out. And then there's always the risk that something goes wrong and we don't get season 2.
They're already in pre production for season 2 filming starts in the fall. It was also renewed already for a third season.
🎉❤
3 books 3 seasons but the show runners want 5 seasons they may get it if season 2 does better than season 1
the showrunners never wanted 5 seasons. Here's a quote from one of them a month ago "either 3 or 4 seasons or maybe 3 seasons with maybe an extended 3rd season we haven't figured out that completely yet" that was around the time the show came out. They have been saying 3 or 4 since the show came out.
@@jeffbachman2949 thanks for the correction
Why are the smartest ppl on Earth often the dumbest as well
Blame the guys that directed and wrote this show (the dudes who directed Game of Thrones).
I felt like I lost some braincells when I watched this episode
why is that
