If you have only time to do one trail in the Denver area, I would argue that Switzerland Trail will give you everything you want. You WILL NOT see hardcore obstacles but what you will see is amazing views and run into alot of various local outdoor enthusiasts. This trail will let you get out int he mountains and spend hours roaming around. While this will not check the boxes of the technical rock crawler, this will allow you to spend countless hours with your friends, family and loved ones experiencing what you desire from Colorado.

This looks a lot more fun than crawling over boulders and taking 4 hrs to go 1/4 mile. I like trails where you can take a bone stock 4WD , check out the scenery and not to worry about getting rescued. Different strokes!

you passed a sign that said dead end before you hit that shelf. Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery has pulled many rigs out of that dead end... i believe we placed those logs to keep people out, hopefully you put them back.

Cool video. I have a 1972 Toyota Fj40 that has done a lot of 4x4ing in death valley. I inherited it in 2017 when my uncle died. Now it lives in Colorado. The past few years I've been afraid to take it out because i don't want to do anything to it to ruin the memories i have but I'm ready to take it on some trails. This one looks good to get the tires dirty and gain some experience with driving something like that. My uncle built it to go off roading so i aim to get it back out there

Thats too bad, you're right there at Left Hand Canyon rd with is a well maintained paved road that leads back to Boulder...close enough anyways. Even Gold Hill rd would have been nice, that will take you back to Gold Hill town and then either jog back over to Left Hand or take Sunshine Canyon into downtown Boulder. Anyhow, good info. I'm also a Texas transplant looking to get off road. I've driven up and down a lot of the main roads already. Seriously though, if you're going to live here, you should drive some of the scenic roads as well! Trail Ridge Rd and Old Fall Ridge rd comes to mind. These roads will blow your mind! Fall Ridge road is dirt but any car can navigate it while Trail Ridge is a paved road. Good video!

Do you air down your tires when you go offroad? It will help a lot for smoothness as well as traction. Better check your tires first to see how much they can air down. Are your birfs still clicking? You might want to get that sorted or at least do the mod when you can lock the center diff when in 4 high. Search is your friend in the ih8mud 80 forums.

I do when I’m rock crawling on technical trails but for this no. Usually 12-15 pounds is my go to.
Birfields still clicking, it’s become music to me when my one channel doesn’t come through the station lol

@@FreedomCrawler air down even on dirt roads makes a huge difference especially if your at 35+ PSI. But then of course you'll have to air up and have provisions for that. 25 is nice for dirt roads.

Agreed. I don’t when I’m not worried about it though. I 100% agree it would have made for a softer ride but again, I base it on the trail. For ouray/telluride/Moab we just ride around at 15 the whole trip but if I’m just doing a run like this I’m not worried about it
