Hey Crossfield and Shields, eat your heart out. This is the truest to the game golf channel on TH-cam.

I found a set of 1956 Wilson Dynapower irons at a tag sale. They had the original reminder style grips on them. Like a fool I gave them away a few years ago.

As to the wind noise which has plagued your audio before and is a very common problem in on-course videos, I saw a video by some chaps on your side of the pond where the trees (40-60 footers) were swaying in the wind, flags were straight out--and yet they had near perfect audio. I inquired as to their mics, but not go reply. It was astonishing how much they tamed the wind, but we could still clearly hear the ball hit the bottom of the cup from several feet away. I do recall their lapel mics had a fuzzy black windsock, maybe 30mm in diameter. HTH and enjoy those Wilson's. They're the clubs I learned to draw and fade with when I was a teen.

I could certainly do with a good wireless mic but they're not cheap. I just use the one on my phone for the moment but a wireless mic is certainly on my wish list.

Oh wow, that guy never played the wedge. He was all about a mashie though!
They strongly resemble my WS Tour Blade/FF from the early 80's. My only irons until I went on a collecting spree last year. But I like the Wilson's so much, I have two sets now. I've yet to swing a Dynapower.

In 1971 I received a set 2-pw Wilson dyna power irons. They had the aluminum shafts and were the best irons I have ever played. I absolutely loved the 2 iron and never missed it. Pw from a hundred yards in was deadly. Second time I played with these irons I shot a 67.

      Great memories Mike!
Not very many of the aluminium shaft versions seem to have made it to today.

I have been playing my 1962 Turfrider irons for the last couple of weeks. yours are much nicer though. I have the 2-9. The 2 iron serial number is a 1963 however and the leather gripes are embossed a little differently then the 1962. Normally the black painted band means regular and the sticker on mine has the R. They do however play stiff. They are fun to hit. Have the 1962, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1978 and 1981 Staffs. I believe that even with the introduction of many new brands in the last thirty years Wilson still holds the record of winning the most majors with 64, followed by Mac Gregor with 59. Yours look practically new and they are quality clubs!

'Dynapower',occasionally referred to jokingly as 'Dynarods' (!),I have a set of 1973 Staff aka 'Adjustabacks' sitting in my John Letters Golden Goose staff bag, great set of irons that I could always go to if I was struggling.
Sadly you don't seem to have the same good fortune with Wilson Staff irons!
Wilson Staff blade putters have been my nemesis, always loved the look but have never putted consistently well with them particularly at long range.
The camera breaking is a good reason to reprise the outing and treat us to a proper show!
    Thanks for another enjoyable upload.

I'm playing this set in a Stableford competition tomorrow, (might slip a MacGregor 5 wood into the bag) I'll let you know how they go.

@@christopherfranklin972 Decided not to add the MacGregor 5 wood as this is a strictly Wilson bag.
Our first hole is a simple 350 yard par 4. I fatted my tee shot, then shanked a 5 iron, then shanked a 6 iron, wedge onto the green and three putted for a 7. 😵‍💫
Came good after that though and scored 37 points off 95% so should get a 0.4 cut. 🙂

Very nice-looking set of irons. I just found a set of Wilson dynapower irons like this 2-PW. Also came with the Wilson Staff 1, 3, and 4 woods. It's like owning a piece of history. Thanks for sharing!

Nice Wilson Dynapower set of irons, I have a set of 1971 Dynapower Button Backs I picked up used not in as good condition as your set but still beautiful. I think club manufacturers could learn from the past club designs. Great vlog as always.

Those are nice looking clubs. The woods are very nice too. I am currently playing with a set of staff blades from around 1976, I think. I love them. A friend got 2-pw from a second hand store for 10 dollars (crazy!). I played with a set of Wilson Staff fg-15 (or fg-17, can't remember) tour blades when I was in my twenties. Nice drive, Nick, on the second to last hole, and great par on the last par 5! Thanks for these great videos, love 'em.

Had a set of 1964 Wilson Staff DynaPower irons in 1964. Great clubs. Just as a side note, if you can fix that "over the top" move, you will stop cutting across the ball and hit it straighter and much further, mate. Cheerio.

    • @ClassicGolfClubs
      @ClassicGolfClubs  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for the tip, one of several flaws in my swing. At the moment I'm trying to get my hips moving earlier which I hope will also reduce the tendency to come over the top.

Seem to be dipping a bit.......is more pronounced with the irons from what I can tell. Maybe the arms a getting a bit too disconnected from the body. Maybe not using the lower body and hip movement to pressure onto and into the feet to get things loaded and pressured and taught and tight in the torso which might lessen the need to feel you need to strike at the ball with the upper torso?? Lots of ways to hit a golf ball.......just a thought. Would be nice to see you crushing all those old beauties you are so good at acquiring. jdp

Cracking irons mate Wilson did make some fantastic clubs. Today their Staff irons are as good as anything. The specs always make me smile compared to those of today. Do love your course vlogs so true if your good your good if your not on form then that's shown (if the tripod mount doesn't fall to bits...LOL)
