It's something I've never understood with gamers ? And this applies to all games that are released as 100% finished or sold for full price. Why is it okay to pay up to $202 [ on steam Norway ] and the product you buy doesn't work ,unfinished, buggy , lack of testing of some items before release, passengers hanging outside the plane and so on. But as long as it gets patched within the year, $200 is fine. What's wrong with gamers not having a right to a product that works out of the box day one? I would like to point out to you and others that it is Microsoft that has published this and not Asobo Studio And as of December 2024 Microsoft has a market cap of $3.200 Trillion USD. And this is what they can deliver. They released this right before Christmas to get the sales numbers and boost for December sales. Cloud streaming that Microsoft is trying here does not work. I for one have Download speed 602 Mbps and Upload speed 602 Mbps and ping at 13 ms from fiber and I have a terrible experience with this simulator. These are server problems with Microsoft. And again Microsoft is one of the world leaders in technology. But as long as there are gamers, it's not that big of a deal to pay up to $200 for a product that doesn't work. Had this been anything else that would have done the same. Companies and people have been sued them for not delivering the goods promised. Imagine if you had bought an apartment and when you got it, it was missing doors, some walls and a bit of the floor. But I, who built it, said I would fix this within the year. You had demanded your money back because I didn't deliver what I promised. But as long as it's a game, it's okay that it doesn't work. As long as Microsoft charges full price $200 for a product, people have a right to expect it to work out of the box. The fact that people say it's a difficult simulator to make is not good enough when you, the seller, charge full price. This is not the first simulator they make and it won't be the last. And if there's anyone who can and has experience with technology, it's Microsoft. And with $3.200 Trillion USD, this shouldn't be a problem in 2024. And now are refunds for FS2024 being refused? That is bad --- forums.flightsimulator.com/t/why-are-refunds-for-fs2024-being-refused/669056/6 I bought MSFS 2024 on steam and there we have 2 hours right to refund it without questions The problem is that those hours were spent just downloading this crap and I'm left with a half-finished product at full price. So it's no wonder that gamers feel Disappointed, frustrated and robbed - not the experience I expected! And I hope everyone can do what Microsoft will notice best, that is not to buy more from the Microsoft store That's the best way to send a signal that they will notice and that's sales and money That Microsoft $3.200 Trillion USD company released this in this state shows disrespect to everyone who supported this company through fs2020.
The walkaround is not there for you to explore the airport. Pilots walkaround their aircraft, from tiny Cessna's to the BIG ones, to make sure, the plane is not leaking, has no dents, cracs and other defects that would make a flight dangerous.
just when the sim will be near working state they will announce flight simulator 2026 or something like that. its a money scam, getting you to constantly replace planes you previously bought which wont as well on newer versions of the sim so you have to buy updated ones. airports etc with updated modelling which will again cost money. asobo are not interested in fixing things completely because they see a revenue stream every 2-4 years and increase the top package prices promising better features. add the coming rtx 5900 which will be recommended for sims like this and you got a seriously expensive hobby. i had 2020 many hours of enjoyment but it got to the point that when 2024 was announced i knew development was 2 years at best then you need to reinvest in the next. you cant keep doing that when things are so tight money wise.
I agree with your assessment of the current state of the game. I upgraded my PC just to play 2024 and I'm over 200hrs in playing only the career mode. I hope they fix the game soon. Time will fix it eventually.
Misplaced positivity will not help them grow into a better game, neither get a better customer policy. Companies are getting a bad habit of releasing unfinished products. They should stop, and they should understand we customers won't accept it anymore. Good music, I like your guitar playing.
I would agree with you, with the idea that it's in a similar condition as 2020 when it was first released. But because of that experience I expected this would come out, if not in a complete state, then at least on a 2020 level as it's base. Yes there's alot of things that are better, I think, in 2024 than even 2020 now. But there are some basic flight/flight simulation things that don't work which doesn't make sense.
long story short, this whole streaming thing and graphics visual downgrade is a joke. Switching from 2020 to 2024 you notice a big blurry difference, reshade doesnt do the job either.
Yes, we are learning to so easily accept that it's OK for companies to release products that are full of faults, nowhere near ready for release. They'll fix it all one day eh? Let's hope this doesn't flow through to motor vehicles and real aircraft. Anyway, as a reminder, this was not sold as pre-release software but rather as a finished product so it can be expected to be just that.

I Agree, it is what it is right now. But, why not call it MSFS 2026 and have another 2 years to release a more polished product, with servers ready to go and kinks mostly ironed out? They probably had to push this title, because they spent 10's of thousands on "2024" marketing, which wouldn't have sounded great being released in 2025/2026 other than having to spend more thousands on changing all the marketing imagery etc etc.... They will improve it for sure, but was a bit naughty charging up to 200 dollars for a half baked product (when they already had 2020 to build off of) looking forward to seeing how it progresses in 2025!
I have to disagree what you said about shadows..... The large main shadows are OK but if you have not raytraced shadows in use in 2024, for example the knob shadows in the cockpit are just a smudge, and the difference is huge between raytraced ones... and they were actually better in 2020.... but if you look at the shadows in DCS or even AeroFly FS 2 (from 2016) they are near identical to raytraced ones in 2024... i hate how the devs these days outsource things to raytracing when most things look the same, but eats up your performance. Glad they still use ray marching in 2024 for reflections, since that looks good and do not eat resources. And glad that the raytraced shadows are not very expensive on the hardware (but much more than the afs2 or dcs method with same result)
i still fail to understand why MS cannot open the marketplace to download even only there own products. and who would build a sim/game without a "start in walkaround" option?
